Decent enough price for a couple of cruzer blades. Cheapest on staticice is $8 each (sans shipping), so real good for a national B&M store! :)

        Sandisk?

        • -4

          KINGSTON….. SANDISK…… Whatever same thing

          SYDNEY as above

          BRISBANE as above

          MELBOURNE as below

    • Sandisk?

    • Given that the sandisk (the only comparable brand) you mentioned was 7.12 it would be a .76 saving. Including the shipping costs its not a particularly good bargain especially for those outside qld

      • +1

I think you meant to say "kingston (the only comparable brand)"….?

  • -1

if in Melbourne, MLN have 4GB @ $4 each

and clive peter have 4GB @ $5 each
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/37276

    • I'm Melbourne, I have no idea where the nearest Clive peters is, also there are
only a few mln stores, so how much more likely do you think I am going to take up dick smiths price?

    • +5

Harsh neg, I'm sure people OUTSIDE Melbourne might find it a good deal.

      • I voted NEG coz people doesn't realize there's cheaper deal out there
to be honest, even Harvey Norman have 4GB for $6
        http://catalogues.harveynorman.com.au/portal/search/usb+key
and Officeworks have Imation 4GB for $6.94
        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/37287

well…is these good enough for people OUTSIDE Melbourne?
and would you still think $15 for 2 x 4GB is a good deal?

        • +4

No, you're imposing your views on other people; and not giving them enough credit for making their own informed decision at the same time! We ALL know there's cheaper USB drives out there, but they are not the same brand/product!!!

For better or worse, some people will want the Sandisk brand for reliability or peace of mind; and if you can't find a better deal on the same product then your neg is utterly irrelevant…period.

        • BURN!!!!!! Lol

    • +1

:S I've only tried a few times, but every time I've been to the Greythorn branch of MLN, they have always been sold out on cheap 4GB drives. Then they can't tell me accurately, when the next lot will be in (if there will be one).

      • call before you go?

        • Tried that

They never picked up the phone when I rang.

Note though - I haven't tried calling them in over a week.

When I did visit the Heidelberg shop, the person answering the phone was the person operating the till. Though I've seen up to 2 sales people in there, often there was only one person.

So even at the best of times, if there are a few customers buying things, it's gonna take ages for them to answer a phone call.

But that was the Heidelberg shop. I'd guess the others would have more staff and might be able to get the phone faster.

    • C'mon Mate.. You can't compare the Cruzer blades to traditional bulky USB drives.. These are so sleek n sexy!!!

      • +1

They're sleek and sexy, but they're plasticy and vunerable, fairly cheap build usb drive. Budget sandisk.

      • Plus I've never had one die on me. I lose them long before that happens.

  • The reason that this is more then other is because it is a Sandisk not an unkownbrand. Buying Sandisk is buying quaility from a well known brand. This will also help minimise dataloss as their chipset is reliable.

  • the Sandisk chipset is reliable but be warned, it maxes out on the write speed at about 5MB/s.
Other brands like Corsair offer write speeds of around 30MB/s

  • +3

The speed of this USB is extremely slow. I wouldn't recommend it.

    • Yepp.

    • i second that. The $1 sandisk sale wasn't that great (more like a dumping sale). Write speeds were so damn slow there's really no point having more than 1gb on that poor usb stick and when you want to utilise all 4gb of it in one go its gonna make you cry…

    • +1

Yep, I dont know about other people, but I always value speeds over disk size (unless I'm getting a rediculously large drive for a bargain i guess :)

  • Still $5.99 at J&W Computers, Sydney (albeit limit 1 per customer).

  • mrkorrupt, what brand of 16gb usb drive is at Harvey Norman for $19? Still avail?

  • +1

Not a great bargain, but better than DSE's usual.

Harvey Norman have Lexar 4GB USB Jumpdrive for $6.

  • +1

The Lexar 4GB is $5 at Harvey Norman in Bundall and Oxley (QLD), the 8Gb is $12 and the 16Gb is $19. Bundall store has sold out of 16Gb and so has Oxley, but Oxley are selling Toshiba 16Gb for $19 as a replacement.

Bought myself 2 from Oxley's store yesterday.

    • Thanks. HN Oxley is right near my work, so i'm thinking i might pick one up tomorrow for that price.
My brother might want one to upgrade his 4gb Xbox360 memory, i wonder if they still have the Lexar one in Adelaide….? Anyone know? Near Ashford, or city.

      What's the Toshi look like?

      http://www.dc-battery.net/images/toshiba_asagiri_16gb-240x20… ??

  • Followed the link to the catalogue and a single 8GB drive is only $2.88 more (ie $17.88)…
(PS - I do have one of these 4GB drives already and it cracked fairly quickly)
