  • Cut corners of death

    • What does that mean?

      • +2

        Nothing much really.

      • The corners of the screen aren’t rounded like most.
It’s like they have cut the corners off with a pair of scissors.

I’m assuming that’s what it means.

      • +2

It's the worst design choice of anything every thought of in regards to phones. FFS, it's not even at 45°.

        • the setting can be changed to around, check out YouTube review.

        • @maxall: No way … really @maxall? Which YouTube review?

        • @peuwayaqdq: •Rounded Corners:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thsoft.rounded.corner

        • @peuwayaqdq: installed the app for round corner

        • +3

If apple did this, everyone will say it's the greatest revolution in design and all other smartphone manufacturers will follow.

  • I think its only the Black phone at that price.

    • +1

      Black and Blue

      • Oh Ok

    • I just updated the post. Thanks.

  • Tick all boxes except the cut corners … still very tempting at this price point.

  • How's the camera on this phone? Anyone have samples?

    • +2

My experience with cheap Android phones is that the camera is exactly where the money has been saved. No experience with this one though. The other thing I've often found wanting is the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth performance. Again, have not used this particular phone, but some Vernee and Xiaomi devices.

Can anyone link to the freq/band specs, can't find them at all.

  • Just … one …lil …thing …. notification lights?

    • +1

      It has a notification LED

  • -1

    Where does it say B28?

    • +5

WOW……..Minus 4 votes for asking this question. The OP says B28 but where is the specs on the manufacturers site. I'm not spending 200 bucks on the whim of a post without a manufacturer link showing the specs.

      • +2

the negative vote for you is not for your question, it is for your negative vote. Next time give a valid reason to vote down a deal.

    • +1
  • Nice, I paid $210 a few days ago.

As I understand it this phone has band 28.

    • how you getting on with your phone?

  • Read the previous deal if you want more info. Don't ask the same questions here:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/371394

    • So when a new deal is posted, one is expected to trawl through all previous deals for specs?

Even so, I can't find anything from the manufacturer regarding bands in the other deal you linked to.

      • +7

Not expected… if you want to waste time re-asking and waiting for answers you can, but it's smarter to check the comments before where your questions may already be answered.

        • -6

No worries…..so could you link me to that post you referred to where my question was answered?

        • +1

          @f1ng3rs:

Don't really know where I singled you out and hurt your fragile feelings…. but never the less, here's a link - click on the 64gb option and it shows Band 28 support.

          @samba:

Mate all I did was ask for the manufactures link to the phone specs for B28. The OP's link didn't provide it and neither did the one you linked to, that's all.

Manufactures release 10 different phones of the same model based on world variations eg asia, usa….right?

        • @f1ng3rs: he wasn't directing it at you (although it may have been spurred by your previous question) - didn't use the best tone but he did provide a helpful link

        • @f1ng3rs: he should go and tuck you in too, right?

        • @Munki:
          Read as… never mind.

        • @homersimpson: Dirty mind! Get the truck out!

the corners make it so ugly

    • +1

There's an app that'll round the notification bar so you won't see it.

      • +1

You just need to give it access to display over the screen, effectively giving it permission to see everything you do. Good solution right?

        • Apparently it's full of ads, also. I imagine when roms are developed or improved, they'd be able to add this feature in.

    • I can see no future dates.

  • item Not available…I guess out of stock.

    • I just ordered a blue one 2 minutes ago.

      • thanks, I see it's working now

  • What's with the corners in the top?

  • Amazing that a phone can be made like this and the iPhone 8 and x are miles away on price still, like the premium of iPhone x to iPhone 8 just isn't worth it yet people shelled out for it

    • This looks like it's worth $100 though. That's probably the difference right? That and actual quality hardware, support, updates etc etc. Minor things right?

  • +1

FFS I just ordered the blue one two days ago for 159USD. Should have waited. I want a black one.. Grrr

    • A black dye shouldn't be that hard to get. :D

      • Will cost extra for the dye and time wasted doing it.

  • Another confirmation of B28 (highlighting is mine)

There's instructions on the page, but here is a simplified translation:

Update firmware for CN phone out of the box
      1. Make a reset to the factory settings in the "Settings" menu.
      2. Check the phone's firmware version "Settings" – About phone – 00CN 1 35H
      3. Download the latest firmware, the link is
http://www.sharpmobile.com.tw/%E6%9C%8D%E5%8B%99%E6%94%AF%E6… – use chrome browser with translate and go to the third tab across (downloads) go to the SS2 ( not the SAT file download as per Joybuy) file download tab. (direct download is http://dl.sharpmobile.com.tw/update/S2/SS2-135F-0-00WW-B01-u…)
      4. Rename the downloaded firmware file by increasing the firmware version number by one more than the one number in item # 2. and change WW to CN to enable Chinese phone to recognize firmware. ie SS2-135F-0-00WW-B01-update.zip —> SS2-136F-0-00CN-B01-update.zip
      5. Download the renamed file to your phone.
      6. Opening the dialer and type * # * # 874 # * # * if everything is done correctly, the firmware and the "update" button will be displayed.

And someone posted on Whirlpool that they followed these instructions and they worked successfully.

      • Hi @samba, it seems that the download on Sharp Taiwan site has changed since the instruction was written at JoyBuy product page. As per your post above, the version is now 135F while on JoyBuy page is 135E. Hopefully that still works (or even better because newer firmware?). But also it probably means that the Chinese firmware is actually newer at 136F.

  • Looks like it's back up to US $199 for blue/black

  • I want one of these for under AUD200, anyone can sell one to me? e.g. ordered but want to cancel it now or ordered more than one & want to sell it?

  • both black and blue are priced at AU$ 210.69 now, which colour is better and should i buy?
