Cheers mate - just trying to help out anyone that was keen from your post ;)

    • To me it seems the Dell is the one to get at these prices (because 110 degree FOV).

Or the Samsung which is a bit more expensive but has roughly the same screen specs as Vive 2.0.

      • The Samsung doesn't have roughly the same screen as Vive Pro, it is the same screen.

    • Can I use any of them with Ps4?

  • How would the Samsung compare with Hive 2.0 (pro)?

I was reading about the issue of MRH of not being able to track the movement of your arm if it’s lifted beyond the ‘sensor’ area of the goggles.

From what I can gather, not owning either, the Vive Pro is better in every way BUT the screens are close. But the Samsung is so much cheaper obviously.

I have the Samsung (have used the Rift and Vive). Tracking is 95% of the Vive when using room scale, with the added benefit of not having to setup sensors in the room. If you plan on using it mostly for seated or cockpit style games its just as good as the Vive. The screen is literally the same screen that's in the Vive Pro. It has built in headphones, dual mics, IPD adjustment, 110 FOV. The controllers are better than the Vive wands. The lenses are better from all accounts in the Samsung, although I haven't tried the Vive Pro, from what I've read they stuck with the same cheap lenses from the Vive, meaning there is a very small sweet spot.

There is absolutely no way I'd waste my money on a Vive Pro when the Samsung can be had for less than half the price shipped from the states. HTC are kidding themselves with that price.

  • Can you just use it to watch movies?

    • +1

      ‘Movies’?

      • Yeah movies.. Like running some theatre application and load up an mkv or mp4 file?

        • +1

          U sure movies?

        • I’m sure there’s a software that does it.

        • @ywaa1124:
Doesn't it matter? Why do you care so much?

        • @HandsomeMonkey:
Easy bro just having some fun here.

          @xenoic:

For that price I think it's better to get it than to get a larg led tv.

        • @HandsomeMonkey:

Well these VR goggles are not really meant for watching movies in the first place.

        • @HandsomeMonkey:

For that money, I’d recommend you to buy a HDMI cable and connect your PC to your TV. Costs you $5

          @xenoic:

You missed the point. Watching movies on a VR is a different experience compared to just a normal 3D Tv. I already have a 3D TV and shit loads of HDMI cables.

        • @HandsomeMonkey:
You missed the point too. Watching non VR movies doesn’t make your experience any better than watching on your TV.

3D movies and VR/360 movies are NOT the same. When you’re watching 3D movies on a VR headset, you’ll see a virtual ‘TV’ or ‘a sense of a wall’ in front of you. When you watch a 360 movie, you get the sense of being in the space and moves when you turn around.

Secondly, watching a two hour movie can be super sweaty. Not sure if this is the right device for you.

      Movie or porn?

    • +1

      Yes apparently..

Plenty of supported 3D "Movie" players out there. lol

    • Yes.

  • Thanks - so, essentially, what are they for?

I have an i5 laptop xbox one and ps4.. What can I do with it?

    Thanks

Check the GPU minimum requirements of your notebook.

Forget about the PS4 or XBONE.

      • Thanks man

I brought the hp mr set, it is fantastic so far, I use it for fitness mainly now, boxvr is honestly the best investment but there is a free game called compound, excellent procedural generated fps. I can play everything with no problems and I have a laptop with a 1050ti. setup takes time, not setup but the download may seem slow at times even with decent speeds it sits at download and installing tricking you into thinking it's frozen, but it's really easy to setup. Plenty of free games like the lab or taphousevr

Edit: On many review sites, the acer is obviously the worst due to the foam in the vrset, apparently it's ultra cheap, my hp one is good at sweat absorbing

  • shows $239.95 to me
