  • Great screen size for your buck! Pretty hard to beat for PS4 Pro and 4K Netflix use.

    • Over the Hisense 65 N7?

      • +1

The Hisense technically has slightly better specs but nothing you will reasonably notice and is more expensive than this unit. Also, no chance I would personally purchase a Chinese brand over Sony.

        • +3

The sony tv is built in china…

It's one thing to be a little ignorant its another to advocate for something blindly..

        • +6

I didn't diffrentiate on where it's made (which by the way may not be China) but rather the brand.

Sony do some great R&D and produce great products and as a consumer, happy to support that. Not everything has to be bottom dollar.

        • @ASKHOLE: probably Malaysia actually. Entry level big brand TVs are usually Malaysian made.

        • @clse945111: It arrived today and Made in Mexico.

$1091 delivered @ Videopro eBay w/PLUGNPLAY, but there's only 3 available so I'm not sure if more stock will be added later on.

      • Did you figure it out yet?

  • Is this a smart TV?

    • I think pretty much ALL TVs these days are smart. It's just your choice of OS / brand - if you want android, or some native OS, that is the option. No one makes "dumb" Tvs anymore

      • So the smart Tv is just what OS is installed? Maybe I don’t use it much but my 55N7 I’ve just used it to play free to air tv, and play YouTube clips and that’s it. Anything I am missing out or not using it to it’s full potential?

        • Just make sure it doesn't do your kids Homework for them if you have any

I’m going to have to get a second job when Costco makes it to perth :)

  • Can someone upload the full pdf?

  • just wondering, how is the quality of sony tvs compared to the other major brands these days
lg, samsung , hisense, soniq, panasonic,

years ago they were the rolls royce.

When it comes to big brand TVs forget the brand its all about individual models. Pick the right model for you.

    • IMO the gap that existed previously no longer is so. The difference between brands now largely boils down to how much each company is willing to spend on the software and computers they use inside their sets. Hisense make a good value for money set IMO, however some of the more sophisticated areas of their sets are less so than perhaps Panasonic or Sony; such as motion interpolation etc.

Realistically though the difference in price between many TV’s IMO is largely unjustified.

  • Its already on special at Costco (auburn)

  • Anyone know if kd55a1 are sold in Costco?

Here is the RTINGS review (it's sold as the X690E in the US):
    https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x690e

It gets a better score than the slightly more expensive Sony 55" X7000E (i.e. 7.4 vs 7.2):

    • The x6700e has an 8-bit HDR but it is actually better at displaying 10-bit colour than many full 10-bit TV's (due to the use of dithering in the X6700e).
    • Excellent contrast ratio
    • Direct LED has better uniformity than many more expensive Edge LED displays (but obviously not as thin).
  • does Costco do delivery?

  • +1

Heres my write up on the N7 vs Sony comment

The Hisense has the better panel for colour
Better motion processing 100hz vs 50 on the Sony
Better HDR rating on the N7
Better App support on the Hisense as that Sony doesnt run Android
You're basically comparing a entry level to almost top of the range Hisense.
    Sony 1YR warranty
    Hisense 3YR in home warrranty

    • yeah saw this mentioned on one of the other posts

  • Does anyone know if other models of the sony 4k TVs are also on sale? Or just the X6700E? Thank you for your help.

Thinking about upgrading from Lg uj634t. Should I? Will move uj634t to guest room. Considering I have money, would it be wise to buy this model?

    Ya? Nah?

    • U have money, so there won't be any problems.

  • This is on sale again at Costco from 4th - 14th May…Same price too.
