put it into a USB case and it's good for people backing up phones or MacBook air size devices and more durable than SD cards.

Any recommended external cases to do this? I've been thinking about backing up some of my old photos on an SSD.

The Orico transparent cases look nice

        • +3

Didn’t work when i put this SSD into the Orico case.
Could pickup HDD fine but didn’t see the SSD.

        • @FireRunner: That's weird, I put an SSD into an Orico case and it was actually one of the ones from a Macbook Pro (Apples weird proprietary connector that looks like M.2 but isn't) inside some SATA adapter I bought off eBay. Works perfectly.

        • @FireRunner: You'd need to format it through disk manager first.

    Save about $10.

Quickly swallowed up by delivery fee

  • I bought this for 60 bucks once when I was an idiot and fell victim to ebay price jacking :(
    Great deal for 40 bucks.

Your not a true ozbargainner, it's $52 from msy

      • Didn't use Ozbargain back then on a regular enough basis
All I know is that I checked PLE and it was 60 bucks there too at the time so I didn't think too much of it until a few days later where it droppped in price by 10$ ish.

      • Can they even be trusted? Didnt they get fined 500k by the ACCC?

    +$8.95 shipping…

Easier to get it from MSY for $49

    • Isn't it better to get at happy hour and use shipster for free shipping?

      • I don't believe ShoppingExpress offers free shipping through Shipster.

      $49 + Shipping :)

      • MSY have many physical locations. $49 + Petrol.

        • +14

Or you can cycle and drink water from water fountains for free on the way to the shop

    • That's MSY bargain

  • +7

$9.95 shipping so basically $43.50 each (if you buy two of em, $48.95 for the single one).

Umart sells these for $48 pickup from over a dozen location nationwide, msy sells for $49 and mwave also sells for $49 with scorptec being the only company selling for $59.

$4.50 savings compared to Umart prices (assuming if you buy two, you save more the more you buy) each with a two week shipping period off a website when you could pay cash, escape the credit card surcharge fee and have it immediately by buying it locally. Not sure if this is a great deal :(

If there was no delivery this would be a steal, thanks OP

  • Any good as a O/S drive?

I want to sell some towers that only have spinners at the moment, should I put these in or pay more for the UV400, I'm afraid people wont pay me enough for the towers with the uv400's because they don't understand the value.

Surely these are good enough? They are so cheap!

    • Surely anybody buying a second hand tower isn't going care that much?
The enthusiast will want to replace whatever you put in it.
The normie won't know or care.

    • +1

Yep, perfect as an OS drive. Chucked one in a cheap sandy bridge laptop I scored off ebay. At $39 it's a great price, but unfortunately limited to one per customer.

    • +2

Don't bother adding SSDs to try and sell the towers, sell them as is. The second-hand market is a buyers market.

Useless deal after shipping. There is no savings over MSY

  • It's a poorly performing SSD but can't argue with the price.

    • +1

I found the performance to be amazing, it's still an SSD nevertheless. I plopped this in an ancient Core 2 Quad machine and it turned it from a snail into a spaceship for general tasks

    • Comments above actually do argue about the price after adding shipping and comparing it to other local stock.

    • The A400 is much faster then the old Kingston model, but it’s obviously no 960 Pro ;)

  • Will it work as a HDD replacement in an old macbook core 2 duo? Still my daily laptop.

  • We'll see if it can resurrect an old Lenovo e520. Cheers

  • +1

Shipping kills it. Might as well get Sandisk or Samsung from MSY instead.

  • +2

Totally don't understand this one being upvoted when the shipping makes it a similar cost to store prices elsewhere? Not a special deal by any stretch, maybe a 5% discount? Oh, and maximum order - 1 FAIL.

    • I was planning to buy this but had obviously misread it as I was under the impression it was including shipping. Not including shipping its pretty close to regular sale price
