  • any difference between Gen 1 and 2?

    • Brighter and Gen 2 supposed to work with apple homekit from memory.

    • 600 vs 800lmn

Credit to Clear for the following:

They're now 10W (was 9W), have 800 lumens (was 600) and have native Apple HomeKit support in the second half of 2018.

Like the previous version they have a massive range of colour combinations and equipped with WiFi that allows you to control them through the Yeelight and Mi Home app. They can also be integrated with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and other smart home systems via IFTTT. They're great for setting mood lighting, flowing lights for that romantic night or beat in sync with music.

I haven't tried one yet personally, but I recall reading some online reviews complaining that the colours are not as vibrant in the new ones.

  • Thanks ioio

  • do people find 800lm to be sufficient for room lighting?

    • Received 2 today. trying it out. Definitely not sufficient for my likings maybe because I replaced Phillips 13W 1400 lumen with this. But it'll be used only when we are late for home at night or on holidays.

    • It's about equal to a 60w incandescent light, maybe a bit brighter on whiter settings.

Perfect for a bedroom, but would need a second light in a larger room

Receiving an error when using the code that it is limited to select countries. Price being given is $33.61AU

    • I also can't get the code to work.

  • Do these dim lower then gen 1

    • Would also like to know. Even dimmed at the lowest setting Gen1 is still too bright as a night lamp for the kids. Good product though.

    • You can get dimmer than the dimmest white if you use the reds and orange tones. Try out the sunset mode to see some of these dimmer colours. That said, I'd still say that they're too bright for a night light.

    • In a link posted above someone states it's brighter than g1 on the brightest setting and they can no longer use them as nightlights.
