  • Was just about to tell the missus a sale on Hermes at Ikea.

    • +3

You gotta be quick to get the message to her.

      • +1

She will probably get the chest of drawers to put all those bloody bags into.

        • Dare you to light the chest of drawers on fire once her bags are in

@montorola: in the news a woman just cut off her BF penis. This would be me.

        • +1

Can't fault your commitment to OzB after the chop and searching for hospital/bandage bargains before you pass out or ambulance arrives.

  • Despite the sale starting tomorrow for the hemnes console table, the Logan store in qld have told me they won’t be in stock at Logan until Saturday

    • Isn’t that’s wrong? They tend to advertise products which are not in stock or have no idea when they will stock again.

      • Other stores have stock. They say there’s will arrive in the warehouse late Friday and may not make it to the store until Saturday morning or small chance of Friday night. Might be worth going in Friday night in case they’re early since they’re open until 9

I’ve been waiting on these to come back into stock because it will fit a small space in the spare room perfectly, and I’ve seen a lot of stores siting on a lot of the, but the Logan has been out of stock for a few weeks

        • I am looking for a product and they keep advertising online while it has not been in stock in last two months across Australia

I called them and last one they sold in February this year and not been I stock since then.

Either they should not advertise or clearly mark as out of stock item

    • +2

Was at the Logan QLD store this morning, they were putting them on display. Heaps of stock.

  • +1

Does signing up to the friends/family as of now, make me eligible to purchase tomorrow at discount price?

I thought I had an account, but turns out that was under the old Ikea account which ceased October 2017.

    • +2

I’m not 100% sure but I’d have thought if you have an Ikea Family membership you should be laughing. I mean, it’d be pretty darn nasty to refuse if you’ve got a membership, right? I don’t think this is like an email thing, I think you just need the membership.

    • cool no worries, will give it a shot. some really nice items listed there.

    • +2

You most certainly can sign up at an orange IKEA Family kiosk right next to the registers and use it with all it's benefits (sale including) the next second. If you're having trouble with your account I'd recommend to see the Returns and Exchange section as staff there can help you with changing details on your account and even ordering out a new card. If you wouldn't like to go through with the hassle, a new account can be made easily online or through an in-store IKEA Family kiosk. (keeping in mind account details like email and mobile numbers might not be able to be used to register for a new account as it's attached to a pre-existing account)

  • +2

HEMNES chest of 3 drawers is the perfect height for nappy change. We used it with a nappy change pad on top and it worked like a charm. Great price at $119

    • +4

If you're using the Hemnes chest of drawers as a nappy changing table, I'd be sure to make use of the enclosed safety wall anchor, which is a piece of metal that attaches to the back of the chest and then can be screwed into the wall behind the chest of drawers. Different walls require different screws and methods of installation. If your IKEA product did not come with a safety wall anchor or are missing your anchor, they are provided as free spare parts in the returns and exchange section after the checkouts. Simply take a ticket at the returns and exchange section for spare parts/information, ask the staff for compatibility advice relating to the anchor for your piece of furniture.

How are they going to know?

They have rules like this on baby formula, but people get around it very easily. The gesture is just for show.

    • What are these baby formula rules you speak of?

      • Varies from 2 per person to 4 per person.

But this is no deterrent. They bring their whole family over and each person buys the max they are allowed to.

What happens is they work as a team, with each person going to separate stores to camp the formula aisle until it gets restocked. They have a fair idea when a store's fillers start putting it out, but there's always delays. When one store gets stock, they call everyone else, and they all head over there quickly and each buy their 2. Then they wait for the other stores.

When they were going for $250 a tin, it was super easy money, and there was no point working a job. In a day, each family member will have gotten anywhere from 8-16 tins, depending on how lucky they are and if they were in the right place at the right time. How much would a family of 4 make in a day? You do the math.

These supermarkets think that putting a limit of 2 or 4 will slow down the exporting, but it does nothing. You can always get around their rules.

And I don't see how Ikea can possibly know you've made your two purchases already. Just get each person to make their own Family card and go.

  • Are these offers targeted? I haven't receive mine but partner receive one.

  • They dont do click and collect do they? Do they reserve products over the phone? Any idea guys?

    • +1

      Hi!
I work in the IKEA North Lakes QLD store. We certainly do offer Click and Collect for same day purchases (a great way to ensure a purchase, since you can pickup the item anytime during the same business day) and sadly we don't reserve items over the phone. Though if you are in store, you're welcome to put the item on a trolley and ask to hold it in our holding bays, each store is different with how long they hold the trolley for, though that's a sure-fire way to reserve something if you can't make payment straight away. (North Lakes store has a policy of 1 hour hold) The best way to check stock is certainly online (mobile app including) when you can't pop in, I believe you aren't able to call directly to an IKEA store specifically, it gets redirected to a centre, so not much use there for checking stock.

    • +3

It's very important to remember guys that each item has a day specific sales period! For example the "Hemnes Chest of three drawers in white" is only available 3rd-7th May. Best bet I would say is to stay up late the 2nd of May, into the 3rd and order a click and collect for your particular store online, pick it up later that day.

      • How do I do click and collect? Cant seem to find option online.

        • +2

I think it’s $40 to Click and Collect so keep that in mind

        • +2

@kerfuffle: yeah just checked that. Its a huge turn off. I am only interested in their floor lamp however given they will be available on sale from 3rd and I am off that day so will go there first thing in the morning

  • No fan of ikea lights since they advertise products without any supply of bulbs to fit them.

Don't believe a word of when they are due in either cause that's just dumb.

    • yeah but…. everywhere else including bunnings sells all the same bulbs, u dont have to wait for bulbs.

      • unfortunately this is not always true

    • This one is just E27….

      • but many in the catalogue aren't - ikea ignore selling goods they cant supply - have done for years. Ikea advertise lamps with special bulbs they do not have stock of.

  • Seems like IKEA SA+WA aren't segregated from the rest of the country anymore?

  • +1

IKEA family cards also give discounts in the restaurant. My Salmon main was $2 off when I was last there. Basically $10 instead of $12. It is also worth looking at the scratch and dent areas as well.

  • +1

I actually thought that Ikea had brought out their own console for a second.

  • Does the daybed come with any mattress? Anyone that has one, how firm are the mattresses?

    • +2

No you have to buy the mattresses (2), they have a couple of options

  • +3

I'm a little bit simple, so please bear with me. I just want to understand this 100%

    (I'm in Melbourne)

So, for this deal, to obtain the chest of drawers….

    I can't pre-order
    I can't pre-pay
    I can't shop online
    I can't order by phone

The only way I can get this is by physically attending the Richmond IKEA on Thursday morning, picking up the 25+ kg box, and placing it in a trolley.

Given the 'estimated product availability' on Monday 30 Apr will be just 11 pieces, I have visions of frantic OzBargainers pushing the doors down at 10:00 am on Thursday, like Myer Boxing Day sales of old, to obtain the handful of available items.

While I admire both the product and the company's nice sale price for it, the prehistoric sales methods are just not up-to-par for 2018. I cannot take several hours off work (and let's face it, it will take hours won't it?) on the possibility of gaining a purchase.

If you do go, do you mind grabbing me the daybed and delivery to the west? (Being half serious)

  • +4

$40 service fee to order online and pick up? No thanks ikea

  • HEMNES
Console table, white stain, 157x40 cm
    Only this colour for $99

  • The floor lamp seem to be back to $79. Service fee for me including delivery is $159! Wow

    • +2

The floor lamp is $39 from May 3 which is why it’s $79 today …

      • Ah okay. Thanks. My bad, didn't read the details.

  • Hemnes console is out of stock at Richmond, wasted half a day coming here…

  • -4

The daybed with three drawers is priced at $499, not $299. Can you please check?

    • +2

you need to read the post…..

  • +1

$299 for day bed Hemnes is really good value, we paid north of $500 for it last year. Works well.

    • Reviews on productreview.com.au seems to suggest a trend with broken slats. Have you experienced anything like that?

      • No but I can imagine this could be an issue if not assembled properly, or handled roughly.

The slats on both halves come in close contact with each other when you extend the sofa into bed-mode. It takes a bit of navigating to pull out the bed properly without the slats scraping off each other.

  • Have been waiting for the Hemnes day bed to go on sale for years. Just paid online for it plus delivery. Even with delivery still cheaper than it’s been for a while.

    • Are you buying the mattresses from them as well? If not, got other options for mattresses. Don't want to be paying $320 for 2 !!!

      • +1

Bought an Ikea single mattress ages ago that would fit it when it was on sale. The mattress is currently on the kids play mat. It cost us just under 100 at the time and we’re pretty happy with it.

  • +1

Just picked up a hektar at IKEA Logan. Loads of stock, they're well prepared.

    • Is the lamp post one long piece, or it comes in pieces, mate?

  • +1

The hektar looks big and nice.
    Thanks OP!

    • Is the lamp post one piece, or it comes in two pieces? I wanna know if the box can fit in a small sedan or not. Cheers

      • +1

The lampshade is divided into two parts and comes back together,AussieDaddy

        • O, thanks! I've just checked my local online store and there are plenty in stock. Will go tomorrow and pick two.

PS: Am I the only person who isn't receiving those OzBargain notifications when someone replies to their comments? I didn't edit my settings, and in the last couple of days I wasn't getting notifications when someone replied to my comments. I just checked this deal by chance and saw your replies.

        • I'm not sure about this. Good luck to you.Cheers!

@AussieDaddy: yeah easily fits in the boot of your car.

    • Keep checking stock level on IKEA website. It look is like they do restock everyday, at least they did it in my local store. Good luck!
