Thanks OP for the info. Pretty decent price, which translate to 13.1% discount based on retail price of $229.

Having owned 1 pair, I think their sound is decent, not great, as it is after all a 1st gen earphones since Dec 2016. There are rumours that an updated version may be coming this year, while another report points to early 2019. https://9to5mac.com/2018/03/09/barclays-airpods-2-noise-canc…

Whichever the case, I feel there are a lot of better earphones out there with newer tech from 2017 and 2018. Unless you are a diehard Apple fan (which you would probably already have one by now), my personal opinion is to hold out for the Gen 2. If you really want a true wireless earphones now, for $199 there are other pretty good alternatives out there (based on sound quality alone).

I agree with everything you've said but there's no point trying to convince apple fanbois to look at alternatives.

You need to be mad to spend anything near $200 on these things but yet many people do it, blows my mind. To each his own.

Sound-wise they’re nothing to rave on about but they’re basically flawless from a wireless integration perspective. Tried some Sony and Jabra wireless headphones, but they don’t compete with the range of AirPods. Only complaint about AirPods is sound isolation and the 2-3 seconds of interference that tram lines can give, but all in all they’re quite good.

        • Having to destroy my ears due to no sound isolation is an ongoing cost.

        • What that 2-3s of interference is exactly?

      • You can telll them to wait for Gen 2’s. Or tell them to buy both ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • It's also an option if you are not using an iOS device, as it's likely the new version will have less feature parity with Android given it had to be added by a bunch of third party apps.

I got mine from the Harvey Norman Amex deal…bought two + delivery 403 cashback 100 which translated to 151.5 each.
Then sold one 180 which makes mine about 120 lol.
Now Im looking for one for my friend but prices for these never really drops :/

  • Also same price at The Good Guys and can click and collect with Cashrewards.

Been pondering over them but leaning towards the Anker Zolo Liberty+.

  • Wait for next gen

    • Wait for the 3rd gen. Oh wait maybe try 4th gen and wait and wait….

      • It’s sensible advice… Or you could buy 2 year old tech when there is a new model expected < 6 months.

Same advice I game my friend who was going to buy a Dyson v8 a month before they released the v10 at the same price.

  • When they are down to $100ish I will jump on them!

And squash them. Ahh, that was satisfying.

      • I'll film it in slow mo and get 10 new subs. Worthit

If Labor gets into Government next year, these things will be 10% cheaper with the GST removed……. They kinda do look a little like sanitary products sticking out of peoples ears.

  • Honest question … if you find that the wired apple ear buds don't fit in your ear and seal well, I guess these won't either?

    • They're exactly the same shape so yeah stay away if the buds don't already fit well.

  • Barely any in-store stock for SE QLD, most seem to be at their warehouse which will take a couple of days to be ready for click & collect. Picked up a pair from JB Hifi with a price match, thanks!

  • Price matched at JB Hifi.

  • Picked up a set from Officeworks today before even checking ozbargain. (cardinal sin) paid $199

Very pleased with them but they are what they are, earpods with slightly better sound quality than the $19 wired ones. Very convenient for commutes though sound isolation is not up to IEM or BOSE levels for certain. Hopefully they have an aac decoder inside the units so not to rely on SBC. Did notice the range to be exceptionally good.

They work on my old Android S5 (recently switched back to iOS due to some major issues with two Samsung's and a Pixel)
