This comes up every time but it needs to be said each time.

Yes they do taste terrible and probably aren't even worth the $2 but if you are getting this you most likely have no other viable alternatives.

If you are popping in to try one though, please save your money. Especially if it gets to the end of the day.

    • +3

      Yes they do taste terrible

Also, the ones in the store don't look like the ones in the picture

    • -7

Made with somebody dead bodies can never taste

      • +12

was that translated in google translate from your native tongue?

@codebased: your response made less sense than your original statement

          @codebased:

          Ni Hao.

        • +1

          @codebased: Oh god. I hope you don't write code….

    • Nah I’m just slack to cook

    • please save your money. Especially if it gets to the end of the day.

If its end of day, and one is concerned that they have been sitting in cooker for too long…. There is a draw under the cooker, with the fresh frozen or refrigerated ones. Could go home and cook yourself to ensure freshness. Apparently a trick to make them really nicely cooked, is cook at about 120-140celsius, takes longer to heat, but does come out much nicer than fast cook.

      • +4

If you are going to do that, just buy it from coles for cheaper… There is also no such thing as "fresh frozen". Ask Gordan Ramsay.

        • +9

          Ask Gordan Ramsay.

I asked Gordon Ramsay. His polite response was "F—- OFF you fat useless sack of f—king Aussie bargain-bogan peice of shite! F—- OFF WILL YA!"
          I cried for hours 😓

      • ishtar. e better of with a pack of the four n twenty angus pies if people are wanting to eat them at home ….read labels on meat content, some, pies are as low as 20%,some as high as 30%. ….can be the difference of 50% more meat between brands and type.

i would expect this deal to only appeal for lunch diners as the eat at home alternative for pies is better.

I don't have great memories of 7-Eleven's pies, but I quite like the pepper steak pie from the BP's Wild Bean Cafe.

    • I actually quite enjoyed the sausage roll.

    • Had a shepherd's pie. Was good. 7/10

Son had a sausauge roll. Was terrible. 2/10

Also got a bacon, egg & cheese burrito. Was hideous. 0/10

  • $2 Pies on Fridays

I got 4 pies for $4 the other week at Coles !!!

    • Was it on Friday?

      • It might have been, I can't remember.

    • +1
      • +3

These are possibly better quality than the 7-Eleven ones.

        • To crunchy as they are frozen.

    • Bet they were frozen.

      • +2

So were the ones at 7-Eleven when they got delivered to the store.

If you want a fresh one, try a bakery

        • +2

          There’s a thing called “Ready-to-eat”

        • +3

          @51ngh:

Read the first comment in the 'deal'

    • And they were hot ready to eat? Nah, they were frozen.

      • +1

They were hot when I was ready to eat, yes…

        • Did you pay someone $1 an hour to heat it up for you and deny them their super?

  • +1

I bet none of the pepper steak ones make it into the oven on Fridays haha

    • Had to try three stores to find one (and only one), LOL.

  • What's in the pies?

    • +17

I tell you what isn't in the pies:
      Beef

    • Obviously all the tasty 'leftovers'. Tendons, ears, lips, buttholes etc.

      • +7

        Mmm buttholes

        • +3
        • You just beat me too it!

        • butt holes …. just like a donut but made of meat, both have a hole in the middle, the hole creates a larger surface area so that you get more flavour.

    • -1

Can you please give me a run down of nutrition information regarding the pastry??

    • Mostly just snouts and entrails

  • +6

Always blow on the pie. Safer communities together

  • +3

their pies aren't too bad imo especially for $2 :/

    • if it’s lunch time they are handy and cheap.

  • deal if it was $0.002 per pie =p

    • How much change will I get if I pay with a 5c coin?

      • +8

        A 7-eleven worker's wage-worth.

  • -1

Does anyone know if this includes their "bangers & mash" sausage rolls?

  • Mmmm snouts and entrails.

  • +1

There's very little meat in these gym mats

  • Peri chicken pie is my favorite.

    • I call BS unless you upload a picture of you eating one

    • Username checks out.

  • +1

What a deal! Food poisoning for only $2. I wish we had the convenience stores like Asia.

    • I don’t recall familymart selling pies. They used to sell microwave meals and steamed buns though.

  • What makes the 7-11 stuff any worse than the ones from coles etc.? Surely 7/11 can't make them THAT bad.

    • they are the same as some of the supermarket ones , but in supermarket you have the ones that are cheaper and also premium so you get more meat …….
i always read label for the % of beef in pies then make an informed selection .

  • The bangers&mash sausage rolls are quite tasty… for something different/unusual. Certainly nothing they sell is great or gourmet quality, but hey, junk food is OK sometimes.

  • +2

The peri peri chicken pie aint to0 bad, I pay $5 for it, so for $2 its extra nice.

  • +1

Not sure the hate, the bacon and cheese travellers and the Peri Peri chicken ones are quite tasty. Even the egg and bacon ones aren't too bad either.

  • Not sure why so much hate. I had 2 veggie pasties last week and thought they were fine. 😐
edit: But I did pop it in the microwave for at least a minute before eating it, it wasn't nice after my half hour commute.

  • The pasties are good.

  • +1

You eat it - arse bits go in to you then they come out of yours. Arseception?

    • Human Centipede - Arseception
      Don't waste a drop

  • The Spiced Pumpkin roll I had was quite good actually, well worth $2 and no questions about the meat content.

  • Can i just say chunky steak was amazing

  • I forgot about this. I went all the way up to Box Hill Station for a 5 buck Macca's deal on my lunch break when I could have just strolled to Sev. Damn it.

    Next week!

    • You're not missing out much…

Had the $2 meat pie, it just tasted meh

  • Does anyone know if you have to pay extra for tomato sauce? Because my 7/11 just gave the sauce for free, did he forget to charge me or is it usually free?

    • +2

Sauce is always free at my local 7-11 stores.

      • Cheers. Didn’t know about this.

      • Can you take as much as you like? One sauce is free per pie at my local. They charge a few cents for extra. 20c or 30c not sure. But I take like 3-4 so could be me specific.

  • As per usual, most of the stores aren't putting out any peri peri chicken or pepper steak pies on $2 day. ACCC should prosecute the pricks for misleading advertising.

  • Some of the pastries are worth $4.
It's nice to have these warm foods with the weather we're having.
