Brisbane to Bali Direct Return Flights $199 Via Jetstar (Club Jetstar Required)

630

I received an email from jetstar saying there was a sale on at midday yesterday. The cheapest advertised flights they had were 219 return but I managed to find some for 199. I'm flying out on the 13-2-19 and back for free on the 24-2-19

I looked this morning and there is still a flight on the 4-2-19 returning for free for 199

Also this is a direct flight for a 5+ hour flight time

Now admit it, you're not posting because it's a bargain, you're just brag-posting (broasting) Well done!

half of the pleasure comes from the bragging

Only in Kuta/Legian and even there they can be avoided quite easily. Have you been recently? Or do you just watch channel 9/7? Look beyond the Bintang singlets and bad tattoos found in parts of those areas. Bali has also changed a lot over the last 15 years or so.

Like Australia, some parts are bogan and some aren't.

Lots of other options which are anything but bogan and terrific value for money. There's something for everyone in Bali. Loads of great restaurants, bars, quality coffee etc and a fraction of the price of home. Quiet seclusion or full on hustle/bustle, beach or bush, the choice is yours. The local people are fantastic. There's a wonderful Hindu culture to learn about and lots of natural beauty. Some ideas:

Seminyak - Hipster central. Great restaurants, shopping and bars. Bogan count - low.

Sanur - decent beach, lots of hotel options, good shopping and food. Bogan count - low.

Canggu - Quieter, but close enough to Seminyak to be a cheap cab fare. Still lots of good food options and decent beaches. Lots of hipster posers sitting in cafes with laptops. Bogan count - nil.

Nusa Dua - All 5 star resorts if that's your thing. Very safe, great for families and young kids. Lovely beach area. Bogan count - almost nil.

Ubud - Arts and crafts centre, cool vibe, lots of good eating and drinking options. Rice terraces, quite hipster. Bogan count - nil.

Lembongan Island - short ferry trip from Sanur. Lovely, peaceful place with superb view of the volcano on a clear day. Some great places to stay at cheap prices and awesome bars overlooking the water and volcano views. Worth a couple of nights at least.

Kuta - Full on, busy, lots of traffic, loads of restaurants and bars and large hotels. Also some very cheap accom options. Bit more tacky and bogan count can be high. That said, there are so many places that they can be avoided quite easily. Options rate from very cheap and cheerful to 5 star. I used to hate the place but visited for a couple of days a few months ago (we are a family with 2 kids) and ended up enjoying it, much to my surprise. While its a bit tacky it has a charm of its own and the banter with the street sellers is fun.

Legian - similar to Kuta with probably a bit less on the bogan count.

We keep going back because we've never found better value and the different options mean that no two visits have to be the same. Also the people, they could teach us a lot about friendliness, customer service and humility.

        Above is exactly my experience.

I get bloody sick of people saying "Bali is full of bogans, I know because I spend a week in Kuta 5/10 years ago, Bali sucks!"

Just avoid Kuta and Legian and Bali can be amazing.

        • it is good..less people will come to Bali… which leaves us with more room

Hahaha… don’t tell everyone!!! We go every year and people always ask if we get Bali belly and how we cope with all the Bogans! I was reminded on the weekend one of the reasons we go to Bali for family holidays - Peppers Broadbeach 2 bed apartment $440/ night, breaky at a cafe downstairs $60 for two eggs, bacon and half an avo on toast with a coffee, scoop of ice cream $6. Equaivalent in Bali $200, breaky included and icecream no more than $1.
We live on the Gold Coast and everyone assumes the whole place is like Surfers Paradise - Bali is the same - everyone assumes the whole place is like Kuta. We never go to Kuta - not even for a drive!

        • Spot on. The first time we took the kids there was because school holiday time for anything in Australia was an absolute rip off. It was cheaper, and it turned out a lot better, to go to Bali. We've been nearly every year since.

I quite like those pathetic commercial TV "what happens in Bali" type shows though. if it puts a few people off, it keeps prices low for the rest if us.

  • what about melbourne?

  • What's the regular sort of price from QLD?

    • $400 return without a bag is a great price so anything under that is awesome.

    • I booked mine on sale and 387$ return was the cheapest I could find for few months…
      normally 500$ return without sale
