  • Any comments as to whether I should wait for a wireless clipper deal or go for this?

    • The wireless wahl clippers are significantly more expensive because of the lithium ion battery. Also beware that some of the wireless models have a really narrow shaver head, which I found it harder to use on my head.

I use the small wireless one for facial hair, then use a wired one for the head.

      • +1

Not all of them,I had a nightmare experience with a non lithium one.
But you are right: I've now got a made in USA lithium model which goes like a dream.

        • Yeah I've found the battery life in the lithium models is fantastic.

    • Depends on your hair/head type as Stuffedcrust says. General rule of thumb is to not buy anything that comes from Hungary or China as their motors are weaker than your standard US/German ones that barbers use. The one OP posted is of a Chinese model that also sells for 19.95$ if you don't mind it in a blister pack. Would heavily suggest to stay away from this model!

EDIT: Link for blister pack model

If you buy this for $19.95, you have the option to spend an extra $5.05 to receive free shipping with Shipster (with $25+ spend).

    • +4

Just a heads up, when I used shipster they sent it via fastway not AusPost. Took me 3 weeks and a 28km bikeride to collect it. It was sent from a store 7km from me.

I remember getting this one for $10 a few months ago 😀😀😀

    • -1

      Was it the last one?

    • same here, that included delivery too from what I remember.

      • True.. $10 delivered

        • Verdict? Some emit high frequency noise when in use. Had to return one myself because of that.

        • @Banana:

Mine still in box. It's a spare as I have 2 other ones

  • lack of c&c sort of kills it a bit.

  • Which one is the better quality this, or this one?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated :).

    • +1

Home Cut series are from China, which I would heavily stay away from. If price is the issue, get this as this is the cheapest US motor clipper:

      Shavershop link

      • Thanks verdikt, that was just the help I needed :).

  • Never again. Bought a clipper from the Shaver Shop (in the Sydney Galleries). Was up-sold to a higher one. Went home and never used it, but decided to go back and exchange it for a better more expensive one. Then they wouldn't accept it because they said it was USED.

So they sold me a used clipper, and wouldn't accept it back because they sold me a used clipper.

The shop assistant was a jerk and very rude. I had to complain to corporate and inconveniently take it to another SS store in order to get my money back.

    • Can I ask why you firstly were up sold and then upon not using the device, went to upgrade once more?

Surely before upgrading the second time you would have liked to find out if the SS products were worth your time?

      • Well I knew Wahl was a good brand so I was purchasing based on that, not based on whether it was SS or some other retailer. The guy upsold me by telling me the motor was 2x more powerful so it won't catch my hair and it was only $10 more. When I took it home the device didn't actually look that good, and my friend also suggested I should upgrade to a professional series model because they are way better, so that helped make my mind. I didn't really do my research beforehand, so I was more price and brand driven when I made the purchase. But that shouldn't really make a difference to the fact that they sold me a used product and wouldn't take it back.

        • how did they sold you a used product?

didn't you buy the upsold product brand new?

do you have the link for the professional model you wanted to buy?

        • "When I took it home the device didn't actually look that good"

How do you mean? Did you open it and try it to use to notice that it wasn't good? Or you returned it unopened and unplugged (which makes your above statement an odd one)?

        • @pinkybrain:
When I returned it they checked to see if it had been used. There was hair in it (obviously not mine) so they claimed that I had used it and wouldn't accept it

I don't have a link but it was the Super Taper Professional model. Just please don't buy it from SS!

        • @AussieDaddy:
No see my reply to pinkybrain. I never used it, but there was somebody else's hair on it.

I did take it out of the box to take a look at it, and that's when i realised it looked worse in real life than on the box. I never plugged it in.

  • I've been using this since the last deal and have been pretty impressed. Quality is good.

  • Can anyone recommend cordless clippers?

    • Unfortunately, the best cordless versions with no issues start around 120$ mark if that's what you're looking for?

  • I bought this one and when i open it there was hair on the scissors and some finger print on Trimmer

  • Any comments on the Compact Trimmer for Detailing and Touch Ups.
We only need a trimmer, but the online review of this trimmer is not so good. Thanks

    • It's a AA-battery powered trimmer. I'm not a huge fan of this and would definitely not use it as a selling point for this clipper.

(PS: I used to work there and all staff members are equipped with this information so you can ask them these too)

      • Just got the Lithium Ion powered big trimmer, which like this deal came with a cut-price, cut-down cutter (it's so cheap its plain black to cut it down-down even further).

On inspection it proved to have an (empty) battery compartment for two AAs. Wow, a rechargeable trimmer with a second trimmer but the second trimmer doesn't charge from the included adapter. Wow. Who at Wahl conjures up such great CX, let alone this kind of product strategy?

I tried a pair of NiMH batteries, and it proved barely underwhelming in cutting facial hair.

Took them out and realised if I wangled the cell locators out of the way, a 9V sized battery could be inserted instead. Wouldn't that liven it up!?!

Then decided on a better path:
Took an old rectangular 9V battery (Except I used a special one that emulates a normal 9V dry cell on the outside only. Inside it uses two 3.7V LiIon cells and a circuit to allow charging and produce 9V at the terminals. Opening it I found I could easily and safely remove the output wiring from the board (which normally inverts the cell voltage to a regulated 9V). Then I wired the external terminals to the 3.7V battery circuit instead (bypassing the inverter), and screwed it back into its 9V battery casing.

The battery still charges via the micro USB socket on the side, and fits into the trimmer just fine, mating with the +/- terminals meant for the AA cells (with the assistance of a little bit of folded al-foil. All of a sudden the trimmer works a treat, although it is certainly a little loud.

I could cut a hole in the side to allow it to be rechargeable via the USB socket, but for now, the battery still has to be removed.

  • The product is no longer available to order online

Same model as the clipper, only has the trimmer missing and is 10$ cheaper:

      • You certainly know you hair clippers verdict :)

        • Work there occasionally as a store assistant every now and then. If you have any queries regarding clippers, shoot me a DM! :)

  • Was on the process of paying when it wouldn't continue. All of a sudden it says the item is unavailable.

  • Looks as though its no longer available:
"Your shopping cart can currently not be ordered since one or more of the products in your cart have an invalid price or are not available in the requested quantity"

With Wahl, i would never buy one which it wasn't made in europe. As the Chinese made ones are pretty junk.
had a good laugh at one of the comments on the Shaver Shop Website for this product:
"I didn't exactly expect great things out of this set for the price I paid, yet it still managed to disappoint.

The cordless beard trimmer couldn't even manage my peach fuzz excuse for facial hair and the main clippers, while they didn't do a bad job cutting my hair, vibrated so much I can think of at least one better use for them. My brother also bought the standalone clippers recently and had a similar experience."

  • I bought a set of Wahl clippers once and after about 3-4 uses, the power button became buggy and I had to hold it down to use it. I was also sold the lie that Wahl products are quality. Don't think I'll bother with them again.

    • probably if the wahl was not made in china, it might better quality

    Back in stock!

  • shave10 code no longer working

  • Correction, shave10 still works if you order as a guest

  • Correction, shave10 does not work as a guest either anymore. Code gets cancelled on payment page.

  • Bought this for $10 a few monthes back. I was not impressed with the quality so lucky it was only a tenner.

If you want cheap crap then this is your deal

  • +1

Side note, These do not live up to the brand, they are in my opinion terrible, invest elsewhere as as much as they are cheap, they achieve nothing for me, and take up alot of space…

  • I am using an old, corded Remington hair clipper (one of those that don't need oil or anything) that I bought from Harris Scarfe many years ago, and it's working great. I was thinking to buy one of these new, popular hair clippers in the market, but most of them have mixed or negative reviews online. I will stick to my good old trusty clipper, I guess.
