wot? this is a store rep post….

      • Still tho

        • +16

Still, 500 for a 580, man prices are bad

        • @Bargain4Days: Still makes it $80 cheaper than this time last year.
Are there new AMD cards coming?

  • +4

Man, the state of GPUS, sad that a card with a MSRP of about $350 (released about a year ago?) is selling for $500 and is considered a bargain. Not as bad as memory pricing I guess.

    • dont worry, new cards coming in, crypto mining groups trying to offload GPUs every day esp low spec 4gb models. Gonna be a deluge of gfx cards for sale and hence low prices, just wait 2-3 months.

    [reads mining stats]

Well, thanks for the stopping by.

Hell, mining has ruined my plan to upgrade.
    Luckily, I have no rush.

    • Yeah I am leaning towards maybe a console and TV this year and just waiting for the next generation to get a new pc.

Postpone my take over the gaming world by storm with my new elite epic game changing never before seen mixed genre classic multistyled RTS refresh with mechanics from all your favourite old games and more to 2030 early early access pre pre alpha demo.. I see it.

      • Or just keep using your current PC?

  • +4

surprised amd don’t release a cryptocurrency with an algorithm optimised for their cards so they sell cards to miners …. then change the logarithm so people buy new cards when amd has new chip set …… be great for gamers who can they get cards cheap used.

you could have these miners chasing a new card every 6 months LOL.

    • Why do that when you can get both miners and regular gamers paying a premium for your stock?

I don't think they care whether the buyer is a gamer or a miner, a sale is a sale.

If 100 is considered left overs, how many did this mining customer buy?

    • Probably a lot more than 100 if the store bought 100 extra in case that miner came back for more…

Geezus this rich ass customer……could buy a brand new car with that kind of money….wish I had that kind of money too….

    • This customer made a ton of money in some crypto investments.. Has a massive farm in multiple containers.

We have 1070 and 1080 almost 100 bucks cheaper too from current cheapest price but colorful brand.

Mining is very profitable. $50,000 will make you 1 eth in 5 days in todays difficulty. but that 1 eth can be put into good ico to make u multiple eth. A good example is

Zebi. 1 eth at ico time = 5Eth return.
Dock. Dock went up 60% post ico in 1 day. MAY 4TH 2018.

My parents would be happy with a 6-7% ANNUAL retuns on their savings. Today you have the potential to make 20% in a week clean.

I have attached my current mining screenshot.

      • Good ICOs are so hard to find amongst all the crap.

      • I would take what this guy says with a grain of salt.

        https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/bitmains-antminer-z9-mi…

With the expensive electricity costs in Australia we should see miners bottom line get hurt even more and my advice would be to wait a few months and I believe cards will come back down to their original msrp and the flood gates are going to open with 2nd hand gpu deals galore lol.

        • days of GPU mining is long over, the ASICs have already been mining since 2017 albeit privately quietly, only reason is now ASIC want to offload to public now. buying GPU for mining is a dead game(even if you are mining high spec unknown coins hoping for 100x)

  • this will still take me over 12mths to make back my investment in mining…sigh..

    • likely mining ETH on AMD cards, so with the new Bitmain ETH asic, its 800USD for 180mHz so you need to buying each gfx(30mhz) for 300 USD or less to be worth it

  • For those wondering this is on par with a nvidia GTX 1060 6gb which I have seen in the past for as low as $350 AUD delivered

    http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1060-6GB-vs-…

    • Mind sharing links to that? Am in the market for some. Thanks

    • A 1060 for 350 is a steal if it's new, hook us up.

Doubt this is a good buy ASIC's are out for Etherem so hardly profitable, mining ether. The planned Casper upgrade will likely remove any remaining profit from Mining Etherem anyway. Great if you can make ROI before the upgrade and\or ASICS's. Only buy GPUs for coins where the community will implement regular anti-asic forks. And in reality that only buys limited time as a few are now FPGA's (even bitmain are using more FPGA's) in their miners.

Most would agree Monero is the most profitable altcoin to mine now, and this card would do less than 600 hs. A $120 RX550 can do 470+ hs, using 30 watts. Limited to the Cryptonight coins.

    Great for a hobby, just don't over commit as the rate of ASIC deployment is extreme. This year we have had Bitmain release ASICS working for;
    - SIA (Blake2b)
    - Etherem
    - Cryptonight
    - Equihash
Only months ago, most of the community said ASICS for many of these would be impossible or cost prohibitive, how wrong they were.

    • profitable if you got 1st batch eth miner, 800->2k hahahha

Don't buy into the mining hype. Demand for GPUs has massively fallen: https://www.forbes.com/sites/marcochiappetta/2018/04/27/gpu-…

"Gigabyte Technology, Micro-Star International (MSI) and TUL (PowerColor) expect to see April shipments drop by about 40%"

    Prices will be normalising

  • Type in RX 580 into static ice. $499 is the worst price. Best price for 8gb card is either $469 or $479, either way this is not a bargain. MSY price is also $499 btw.
