Xiaomi Mi Power Strip - 3 USB Charging Ports with 3 Sockets $9.99 US (~$13.33 AU) Delivered @ Joybuy

660

Cheapest price this has been in months! As of April Xiaomi have sold over 10 million globally since release too!

These are great if you have a lot of devices with different plugs or travelling as it takes AU, CN, US and EU plugs. It also has 3 USB ports for charging up to 2.1A. Xiaomi have good build quality and I've been using multiple versions of these for years without issue.

I have a mild amount of interest in this product, except for the fact:

    • it covers the Powerpoint Switch.
    • I can pick it up cheaper in other stores.
    • USB Ports are not QC
    • Not AU approved
    • Plug is upside down
    • Voids home insurance
    • Plug is Chinese not Australian
    • Where is the UK plug?
    • This product is illegal to import.

So with all that to consider, I'll only be ordering 7 units this evening.

    • +1

Which store can you pick it up for less?

          We all adore our Xiaomi's
It puts a tightness in every arse.

    • Noob Q but what’s QC? Quality control?

And Damm just bought the target surge board for $15 which had 4 poweplugs and 2 USB ports. How do I know the USB are QC?

      • Qualcomm Quick Charge technology which some phones have. No chance of Target ever selling them and this powerboard doesn't have it either. Products would advertise it if they did.

      But no plus vote?

    • Voids home insurance

interesting. is this specific to a particular insurance company? i've not heard of / read this type of clause for home & contents insurance policy.

      • +3

@ameyas7 This resides in the meme category. Those comments are about a fun game of Xiaomi Bingo based on this exact board. Check out the first post from Clear for more information.

It's like a Dad joke. We just feel obliged to say this stuff when met with the same set of circumstances. Like the fun we had in the old days with Eneloops.

Find it hard to believe it would void home insurance…I dont know.. just a fun thing to say after this product has been painstakingly critiqued on ozbargain for oh so long now.

      • +1

It's based on cynicism of insurance companies (well deserved imo) where they may find anything at all blame you and avoid a pay out especially if it is on a house fire or what not.
The board itself is likely fine and imo superior to cheapie Aussie compliant ones, but non-compliant is the perfect excuse if it's in the vicinity of the actual cause.

I don't think you'll find anyone who can prove/disprove this cos I don't think anyone has had the situation yet!

  • Have been waiting for a deal on these but I'm after the black version :(

    • Get some black spray paint.

    • +4

You know what they say…. once you go black.. you'll actually have exactly the same overall product experience. (cos cosmetics)

      • +5

        You've obviously never gone black.

      • +1

        Trying black story:
My brother in law runs a successful tradie type business. His workers all have white dual cabs or vans.
Anyway, once the Toyota dealer didn’t have a white dual cab and he decided to take an otherwise identical black one.

Whenever he went to do a quote in the “Black Toyota” the clients would all claim he was clearly charging too much given the flash car, his mates were claiming business was obviously very good, etc, etc.

He eventually got rid of it and replaced it with a white one, and it is very interesting that those complaints and jibes don’t happen anymore.

    • Used to be more deals on either one. Lucky I grabbed a got one during those days!

  • Here's a review - basically it probably won't burn your house down but only outputs 3A across all 3 USB ports so you can only really charge one device at 2.1A at a time.

Oh, and all the stuff seamonkey mentioned above. I think I'll stick with Australian approved products when it comes to mains power

    • +1

If you don't need QC or other types just stick a couple of these ORICO Chargers for $2.99 US in them as they'll do up to 5V/2.4A in each port making it a Super Xiaomi Charging Strip. Unfortunately all the other colours are sold out though if you're not a Pink fan.

      • That's a really good price for an Orico but I have eno.. ah screw it, family always need them

      • +1

Benefit of QC is you know it's a Qualcomm chip, so you can be more confident it won't fry your electronics.

    • @hambuger Only said that stuff to win @Clear Xiaomi Bingo.

  • It will be nice if they could be remotely controlled…..

    • +1

They have WiFi ones but they cost more. The downside is that you can't toggle individual sockets on or off. It's either them all or none.

      • +3

        You really know your strips.

        • +3

Clear is the man to organise the next bucks party

        • @grrrr: Coincidence. I have one next week.

        • -3

          @Clear:

JV: Are you getting any stripers?

        • +5

@Scab: No but I am getting strippers.

        • @Clear:

          Username checks out.

This deal clearly is a joyful buy :).

    • +2

Not as joyful as seeing you here, Wystri :)

      • +2

        Oh you're such a dear xev 💟.

        • +2

          😊

I bought 3 previously and have had problems with one of them. It short circuits when more than one plug is using power like the toaster and kettle together.

    • +7

Gotta be trolling. Everyone knows that'll overload a power board.

      • +1

        I did not know that…

        • +1

even without using a powerboard, doing that can trip the circuit

    • +1

like the toaster and kettle together.

If that "like" is actually what's happening with yours then it means the board is doing its job like all the others and trip off cos I wouldn't be surprised if those two high power appliances exceed the limit used together.

  • for some reason instead of showing QLD it shows 2459 in the shipping address… (checkout page).

edit: after checkout in the order details it's displaying correctly…

  • so the smart version is also on special at $20.38

    https://www.joybuy.com/product/650102888.html

quick charge is mention, but its only 2A?

    • +1

It's exactly the same as this. Unless they advertise Qualcomm Quick Charge then it's not QC. There are no Xiaomi power strips that feature it.

      • thanks mate

    • +1

That's not the smart version, I don't know why they have put 'Smart' in the title.

It's the same as this one.

That is a mistake by the vendor and not you :)

  • +3

    Guys just a word of caution- I bought 3 of these and now don’t use them unless I am present when plugged in and switched on, reasons being;

    USB buzzing noise when chargin
USB gets extremely hot when charging more than 1 device

I would not recommend these for charging USB devices

    • Some coil whine and heat isn't much of a problem. Infact QC/PD chargers would normally be even hotter.

      • Yeah my apple charger had some bad coil whine the other day and thought that too.

Then it went poof and smoke came out of it and it tripped the house breaker.

So don't think I'll be ignoring that sign again (guess it went internally short).

    • Because XIAOMI trollers define everything from XIAOMI is good quality, maybe even better than Apple, and XIAOMI should be the most valuable tech company in the world. LOL… keep buying, mi sheeps.

      • You're the only one that says how valuable Xiaomi is. No one else…

  • So what connector does this power strip have at the wall outlet?

Sorry I've never looked into it on previous deals

  • I’m after a better power strip than this with QC I’m trolling round OZbargains but can’t find one has anyone got any suggestions it would be much appreciated

    • Orico had one with QC a few years ago but hard to come by. You're better off getting a dedicated charger.

  • Does anyone know where I can get a power board like this and it has UK/Sing plugs too?

    • Yep, in Singapore or the UK.

In both cases, the product will most likely be approved to the proper safety standards, which are just as strict in those countries as here in Australia.

  • Back in stock

  • There is no joy buying from them. I have just received a shipment notice :(
