  • Thanks nocure, interesting app.

I want to mount a monitor on a wall powered by a Raspberry Pi, hopefully this may eliminate the need to keep a mouse/keyboard nearby.

That's if it works with Raspberry PI.

    From their website

Your use of Mouse server is free of charge in exchange for safely using some of your device's resources (WiFi and very limited cellular data), and only when you are not using your device. You may turn this off from the settings menu. Please see our TOS for further information. TOS.

    Sounds pretty dodgy

      Very dodgy!

Apparently it auto registers you as a proxy for others to use for $3/GB to avoid blocking:

Not sure why my comment/vote agreeing with you just got revoked by moderator.
Negging deal as per above. <- wait I cant now. Will try a report instead.

Moderators should be removing this deal.

Agreeing isn't enough to neg a deal. You have to provide your own or same reason.

        • @sween64: Just curious how is "same reason" any different from "agreeing"? Or is it just another T&C gimmick?

        • @DAT: It's OzBargain'a rules. You can't also say "same reason" you have to restate the reason.

I negged saying "hear hear" and it was removed.

This is my first NEG on a deal.
To say that its "legitimate" that it includes a vague description in the footnote, is the same as saying Facebook is responsible with your privacy and never sells your data.

And before anyone says this is incorrect use of the NEG button, it is correct since:
          "Defective product:
Major issue with product in that it doesn't work the way it should."

This App (hence Product) doesn't work the way it should, as it uses up your Wifi and Mobile Data when it doesn't need to, in order to compromise your privacy and enable overseas users to mask their web activity. I'm sure there are plenty of alternate products, paid or not, which do the same task without being defective.

Just in case it's not obvious for some, this could make YOU liable for the activities of criminals or civil litigation.

Dodgy would be doing it without informing the user, this appears to be legitimate.

      • +13

Certainly it would be even worse to not say at all what is happening. But how many people would read this footnote in the description z realise the implications, follow the link, scroll down the FAQ to find the reference to the proxy service, follow that link, then understand what is happening?

If the app description started off by saying: "by installing this app you agree to your mobile device being used by other people to mask their actions, such as participating in denial of service attscks, spam campaigns and credit card fraud", then I'd concede people who installed it understood what they were getting into.

    Just use unified remote lol

Full version is $5.99. I bought the full version on sale for either 20c or 99c (cant remember) and can vouch your rec. There is a free version but has limits applied.

      • I use it, but I do find that the mouse doesn't always work correctly.

  • I use cetusplay, but i am but ignorant if i am compromising privacy there !?

I was going to say it sounds like the same setup as that free VPN extension but I couldn't remember the name, reading that it turns out it's the same company, Hola

      • +1

I used hola for a while, worked some of the time…. when It stopped working fully it just wouldn't remove itself like some crappy malware…didnt use that again.

03/2018 - "Google is preparing to launch the first developer preview of the next version of Android, currently codenamed Android P. In the next major Android OS update, Google has added the ability to use your Android smartphone as a wireless mouse or keyboard." - source

In this case, wireless means Bluetooth, but I think it will be a really neat feature to have!

    Fraudulent

  • Is this app legitimate? Or are there better apps free out there?
