    depends on state laws. Vic/Qld/NT it's ok. WA/SA/ACT/NSW/Tas it's not.

    Pretty sure this has been dealt with before - but since you're making the claim - evidence?

    Fyi, in NSW you cannot record unless… (One of many exceptions)

    the recording of the conversation:
    (i) is reasonably necessary for the protection of the lawful interests of that principal party

    And that's not a high burden of proof is someone is making a verbal agreement regarding work, refunds, warranty, making threats, you're getting fired, etc etc.

        Good question - I would think that the law in NSW would apply if you were located in NSW and the recording device was also in NSW. But hey, I'm just a bargainer… I don't interpret the law, that's for grown ups.

      The scope is not your particular lawful interest at the time, but rather 'interests conforming to the law'.

      The Courts have put high burden on it, thats why your Solicitor will almost never allow an illegal taped phone call into evidence (as you are committing an offence); so much for the low bar…

      Blackmail or extortion they probably would allow (see: Groom v Police [2015] SASC 101)

      Also if you allude (threaten) you have a recording, you are basically alluding to the fact you have committed an offence, and the other side may force you to disclose that you have recorded (and then perhaps even ask the Police to charge you).

      Also you won't get reinstatement in a Workplace case. Entering the alleged behavior into a Diary is enough evidence any way.

        No - if you use it in a civil case its against the law (and your lawyer will not admit it).
        The States criminal code trumps your civil redress (i.e. you cannot break the law to enforce your rights).

        Lawful interest is not how you understand it, plus the threshold is quite high (hence not used in civil cases).

        You may use it in a criminal case - but then its not you who is prosecuting, its the state.
        And so that is protecting your lawful interest (your interest against having crimes committed against you).

    Same on my ZTE Axon 7. Does not matter if I pre-select "Audio voice call or MIC", I only hear my side of the call clearly, I can hear an "almost whispering" voice for the other party. Shame. I had this same issue with the previous call recorder offer too. Maybe that will get fixed with the Oreo update that should be coming soon for the Axon 7, or maybe this a hardware issue? Who knows.

      Not sure if the Axon 7 does have a hardware issue after I looked at one of the ZTE forums and they recommended "Call Recorder - ACR" for the Axon 7 (Unpaid with ads), I put that app on my phone, and with the standard presets I get only my side of the calls still, but within the app itself is a setting to configure your phone to other presets (The tab that for "Recording Issues"), once I selected the preset for Android 7.1.1/2, the "Call Recorder - ACR" app just works for both side perfectly (May even risk spending the $3.29 once I have finished sweating over the idea of paying for something - Free is always better)
      P.S I will never actually use the app of course, just in case it is illegal.

    Yeah not too bad. This one sends off the call recordings for analysis and sells the data for advertising purposes, but I just talk in a funny voice with all my calls now so they shouldn't be able to profile me too much.

    ACR works like a charm, I have been using it on my ex Note 5 and now still using it on my Note 8, it records both ways and even when using bluetooth headset.
