I personally own this bulb as well as several first generation Yeelight bulbs. It is certainly much, much brighter, and the colour accuracy is significantly better than Yeelight. For this price, it's an absolute steal.

How does this compare to the Xiaomi Yeelight?

      I don’t know why you get downvoted - it’s a valid question

      • Maybe it seems they didn't read the full post above or ignored OP a little.

I’ve got both in my Google Home powered setup (four LIFX, one Yeelight bulb, one Yeelight strip), and in use they are quite similar. The LIFX is definitely brighter. Both with randomly drop off my Wifi network and require a reboot too.

That said I have already had the Yeelight die on me after 3 months (replacement sent from the eBay seller very quickly with no fuss), will see how the replacement holds up.

Yeelights are 600 lumens which means that you need two of them to be slightly brighter than this LIFX bulb.

The good news is that Coloured yeelights are 3x cheaper a LIFX bulb and white ones are 5x cheaper. This means it's far more cost efficient to buy Yeelights especially given that they work in with the Mi smart home devices which are all a fraction of the price of everything else on the market.

Only real downside is that you need to buy little 90c adapters that use up all the room available in your light. Or if you need like 3000 lumens at each light cover, you can't really achieve this with a Yeelight unless you have special cover like mine that hold 5 bulbs.

Note that the new version is 800 lumens so that means you need about 1.38 yeelights to match every LIFX bulb. Price hasn't moved much for the coloured yeelight bulb, went up like 10%. So now it's far more cost effective for coloured Yeelights (let's face it, you need 1600 lumens in a room 1100 is far too dim). White price went up dramatically so that's not nearly as economical anymore.

      • Good info mate, thank you.
I have 2 x Yeelight Mijia Smart lamps and 3 x Yeelight strips and am very happy with them considering what you get for the price but have been hesitant to change the bulbs in my rooms to Yeelights because of the low lumen output and have been looking in to LIFX.

One of the rooms has a light with 3 bulb holder so I might give the 2nd gen Yeelights a whirl.

        • Changed my mind, got 3 of these :P

  • There is a $31 bulb at Amazon too and looks like similar. What is the difference ? Wouldn't the Philips one is better and cheaper ?

      Phillips hue needs a hub.

      • Not if you have Echo Plus

I cant get my day/dusk LIFX globe to work. Have been back and forth with tech support several times, no dice :( it refuses to follow a schedule, instead it locks to one kelvin/brightness.

Nice! My second gen ones are playing up heaps so I needed to replace them.

The first LIFX bulbs I bought have been like a beta product. Sitting in the draw unused now.
Hopefully they used my (wasted) money wisely to upgrade the technology.

      Update the firmware.

      • All my LIFX bulbs are pre HomeKit update compatible. They may as well be dumb bulbs because no one can be bothered using the LIFX app or keeping HomeBridge running. Philips Hue would have been the better buy.

Yeelights are great Lifx are much brighter at 1100 lumens v's 600 lumens, new model yeelights are 800 lumens.

Promotion doesn’t seem to apply for the B22 model. Comes at $69 for the B22 one after using the Amazon20 code.

  • Or you can get two mini's for $90 delivered! ($45 each)

  • Made a new account, only coming down to $69?

    • Choose the free shipping to make it come down to 63.20 and add the code manually to get $20 promotional credit

  • Would you recommend this for a table/study lamp? The mini’s are more expensive at $45ea.

    • I have one of these for a lamp and it’s perfect.

  • Just a quick question… whats the difference between the mini and the standard listed in the op ? is it just the size ?

oh just found its 800 vs 1100 Luminous Flux.

Thanks for the heads up, grabbed one to replace a yeelight ver 1 which can now go into the shed :)

It's a shame that the 20% discount doesn't apply to the Bayonet style, just the Edison Screw
    Still an amazing deal though

    • Yeah surely thats a bug? Unless they are clearing stock

  • Maybe I am just REALLY unlucky. But I bought two of these on an Ebay deal sometime ago. One failed after only a couple of weeks and was replaced by the seller no questions asked. The second failed about 10-12 month later; and the replacement for the first failed a couple of weeks ago. So went through 3 of these within less than 18month. Mind you they where used in our Bedroom, so only on for a couple for maybe 2-3 hours every day, if at all. Also constantly had connection issues while in the same room chromecast, Playstation etc. are connected without any problems. Would not spend 10 bucks for on of those again.

I’ve had about 8 in total. A couple stuffed up when updating firmware and were replaced no questions asked, however all then have lasted for a couple of years now with no major problems. I say major because sometimes the app stuffs up.

  • Bought the last bulb. It's out of stock now at this price. Thanks op

    • Can still order it.. they will ship after some time

    • You're welcome

  • Says the item cannot be shipped to my address :/

  • Just sign up with another email address and you get the $20 off plus 20% off.
    Now on back order.
