WHAT DO WE SAY?

While training at Bali MMA (shout out to Bali MMA) good friend of DCE and professional MMA fighter Luke Howard introduced us to Jamu Tonic; an Indonesian drink that aids recovery and helps with inflammation.

This was directly after Luke beat us up for the 2 hours so being the vain individuals we are, naturally we assumed the Jamu was giving him superpowers. We proceeded to drink the Jamu everyday and maybe it was the magic of being on holiday but most of my niggling injuries (especially my lower back pain) cleared up for the rest of the camp.

Arriving back in Australia we couldn’t find this magical drink anywhere and after converting back to AUS dollars I’m not sure we could afford paying $7-8 dollars for individual serves anyway. Solution: after 6 months of trial an error and much investigation we have Dirty Doctors Magical Elixir.

BENEFITS OF JAMU?

Ingredients in Dirty Doctor’s Magical Elixir may help with:

  • Inflammation
  • Digestive Health
  • Infection
  • Immunity
  • Energy
  • Metabolism

These benefits range from peer reviewed research (i.e Turmeric as a proven alternative to Ibuprofen for inflammation treatment) to traditions passed down through generation but may not have been studied in a scientific setting aka “mumma said”.

Our goal isn’t to make false promises. We encourage you to undertake your own research and make up your mind on how Jamu can work for you.

Me personally…I take it everyday 🙂

WHAT IS IN IT?

Turmeric, Ginger, Garlic, Cinnamon, Chilli, Black Pepper, Apple Cider Vinegar, Lime

SERVING INSTRUCTIONS

There are a number of ways to drink Jamu including mixing with cold water, mixing with soda water, brewing into a hot tea or taking a shot. Simply mix a serve (10 ml) with your desired drink and enjoy.

WHAT DOES THE INTERNET SAY?

Jamu is traditional Indonesian medicine, predominantly made from natural ingredients including roots, bark, flowers, seeds, leaves and fruits. It dates back thousands of years and has some similarities to Ayurveda. In Indonesia jamu is used to address a wide range of ailments, depending on the ingredients used.

Widely available from cafes and restaurants across Bali, turmeric jamu seems to be the most commonplace. A Balinese cook told me that women traditionally drink it two or three times a week for beauty, and men drink it mixed with raw egg yolk for strength.

One of the most powerful healing herbs, turmeric is a rhizome or root (similar in form to ginger) that can be used fresh, or in dried powder form. Besides being a powerful anti-inflammatory, natural liver detoxifier and kidney cleanser, it’s also thought to have a host of health benefits including antioxidant, digestive, antiplatelet (decreases clotting), cholesterol lowering and anti-carcinogenic properties.

Turmeric’s health benefits come from curcumin, the active ingredient now being studied around the world for its potential health benefits in warding off dementia and cancer.

The benefits of this so called "Magical Elixir" can be gained from a healthy lifestyle & diet.
It's 2018 not 1818. Some things just don't belong on Ozbargain, neg.

Ingredients in Dirty Doctor’s Magical Elixir may help with:

    • Inflammation
    • Digestive Health
    • Infection
    • Immunity
    • Energy
    • Metabolism

We completely agree. Those benefits can be gained from a health lifestyle & diet. This is a supplement containing natural ingredients that form part of health diet.

      What's your point?

  • Negging due to major issues with retailer. The ingredients are a secret, there are no reviews whatsoever and we are not told the quantity in the bottle, only how many serves of an again undisclosed quantity.

    • Jesus man. That's bit rough. It was our first go posting on here.

      To answer your questions

The ingredients are on the back and clearly displayed on the website(the secret part is a joke)

No reviews because I made the account 5 minutes ago

Serving size…good point. We have it on the bottle but we will update the website.

You work for this other company mate???

I feel like we already had this chat.

      • +3

We come here for bargains. Would we save money paying you $22.49 for a smaller bottle of something very similar costing $6.00 elsewhere?

        • -3

The simple answer; that is a different product intended for single serve with different ingredients but I'm more worried about you?

Are you ok? Do you need a hug? Why is this so important to you?

        • +3

@DirtyCleanEats: We come here for bargains. Have you considered posting one?

  • +3

As PJC pointed out if you really want it it's cheaper elsewhere.

As WatchNerd pointed out even at $6 it's probably a waste of money.

  • I'm starting to think I'm being trolled here

      Welcome to OzBargain.

    • I feel like Ozbargain may not house your demographic. I would buy a 150$ juicer down from 600$ and then purchase the individual ingredients to make this myself, if it was cheaper per serve over a 12 month period. if I wanted it, which I would not as I don't believe this would net any legitimate benefit over say a multi vitamin. Furthermore inflammation is an immune response, if you're becoming inflamed on a regualr basis may I recommed seeing s doctor.
It's free with a Medicare card.
Good luck out there though :)

      • Yeah I'm thinking you might be right about this platform. I don't necessarily agree on the multivitamin/doctor part but appreciate the feedback.

        Cheers man.

Negging as cheaper elsewhere as pointed out by PJC.
