No they aren't.
I have 0 social media accounts and they accepted mine almost immediately. Not sure what the criteria they go off for accepting them? Maybe not written with crayons? Though when applying they did mention the review processs would only take a few weeks to review.
I also don't have any social media presence and got accepted. I did give them my OzBargain user id though.
Yeh, Sony haven't approve my membership since last year as well, Sony… be kind please?? lol
If you applied because you saw it thru Ozbargain last year, they actually didn't like that people shared it on Ozbargain and mentioned that sharing it online was against terms of the 'X' membership.
However, we did not receive any communication from Sony for a takedown.

Renewed within a couple of minutes of receiving the email. Hopefully I'll get something good!
Been with Sony X since right at the beginning when it was outsourced to the Contagious Network. No renewal email :-( Although these days it's been very photography-focused, which isn't really what I'm interested in.
A renewal? I signed got accepted during last year's promotion and didn't know it had an end date or required renewal. What gives?
