Galax GTX1070 EXOC Sniper $589 (Save $130) @ MSY

130

$589 is $10 more than the previous MSY deal but is a better card, with higher out of the factory clocks (1708 vs 1784Mhz boost) and a better cooler (including a fan off mode when idling which is great for noise). Also has RGB for even more frames.

Next cheapest GTX 1070 from the usual computer store suspects are Inno3D cards from JW and PCCG at $649.

Also a GTX1060 3gb Galax card for $289, sharing the honours as cheapest local stock with a single fan ITX Asus card at computer alliance, so this isn't bad value either.

      Galax or MSY?

MSY. They're ridiculously stingey and will tell you to get f**ked if you want to return something, and that you should be going through the manufacturer. At least that was my experience in 2015. Since then they've been smacked with a second fine by the ACCC.

        ACCC media statement: https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/msy-technology-ordered…

Nowadays they should be muuuuch more receptive to warranty complaints because they're high up on the ACCC's sh!tlist.

        • Well I can safely say that late last year (around september) Me and my cousin built his first PC with a GTX 1070 from MSY. One of the fans made a jarring noise and wasn't quite working well after about a couple weeks. We took the card back into MSY and got it returned no issues, although my cousin decided instead of getting another 1070 and just bought a 1080 from MSY instead.

Who knows if this is because of policy changes or the dude in particular we dealt with was just a good guy.

        • and will tell you to get f**ked if you want to return something

I disagree too. I returned a motherboard to MSY year before last no problem.

          edit: year before last.

        • They done nothing for the hundreds of customers they f….d over, and they still treat customers like shit.

If you wanna trust a company that has been doing the wrong thing over and over again with expensive component purchases then that's your choice.

Advising others to do it is just wrong.

MSY is a computer store, not a brand

        Do you mean MSI?

        • +2

I'm sure jonoz meant MSY, I'm assuming he's asking whether warranty issues are with the seller or the brand. As mentioned elsewhere MSY got fined twice for warranty

@Loopenip: oh, he was responding to Petry, pretty confusing how he didn't use the reply function.

        • @Homr: I did use the reply button, thats how OzB does the first level reply.

      • I returned a modem to MSY a couple years ago and it was a pretty quick return once they established that it was faulty.

        No complaints on that occasion.

I've had this card from Umart since it released back in 2016. Great card, hasn't skipped a beat.

Ridiculous that these cards are still the same price as they were two years ago. Damn miners! 😠

    • At least they are that price again and not pushing $1k i guess.

    • They're actually much cheaper now than they have been for a long time.

      • +1

Cheaper than they've been for a long time yes, but it's still expensive for a 2 year old graphics card… barely cheaper than launch price. Wish they'd go below $500 soon, GTX 970 of mine doesn't cut it for 1440p. :\

  • Anyone seen a 1070 or 1080 with 2x DVI?

  • waiting for the 1080 be like sigh..

  • Note: Second-tier manufacturers will likely get lower grade binned silicon so things like ASIC rating for overclocking would definitely be lower than an ASUS or EVGA etc. That means less OC capability, less overall efficiency, less life-time expectancy, higher temps, more noise and some third party coolers instead are not recommended. Also beware terrible warranty if something goes wrong.
