Are they getting these through customs now?

    • I would like to know too.

      • +1

Yes taken many through customs all around the world with no problems so far.

        • +3

No i mean sent in the post…they were being stopped last year from a few posters on OzB

Didn't down vote you by the way - people are happy on the neg trigger tnt

        • @urbancartel: Had my order stopped last year and had to open a Paypal dispute as I never got a refund. Ordered one of these, hopefully have a bit more luck this year.

        • @BradleyDS2:

Did you win your PayPal dispute? I miss getting cheap powerbanks in the post

        • @urbancartel: Yep, they never responded, so I won by default and got a full refund.

Soon Xiaomi will take over airport technology and use Xiaomi screening machines

Shit, they updated the price as I was paying… Showing $35.60 each.

Edit: Huh, shows the original price in incognito… Changing the price at the last step is a bit shady, be careful you don't get overcharged.

Just checked and apparently it happens if you order more than one at a time.

  • +1

Doubtful about the custom clearance as well. Good price though.

  • +2

Ordered then remembered that the C in the name doesn't stand for Type-C, whoops.

I wonder what the C does stand for…

    • Looks like 2C is just the larger model

      • Just checked and there appears to be a 20000mah version of the 2 as well, looks like the difference with the 2C is that it has QC3 instead of QC2.

    • China? They called the new 10000mAh one the 2i as it was made for/in India.

    • There is a 2i which is made in India and there is 2C which is made in China.

  • How long is HK postage usually?

    • Haven't ordered from them before, but in general 1 week to 8 is normal. 4 is the average.

  • $30 for AU local pick up, good price

  • Are these the units that will charge a MacBook?

    Thanks in advance.

    • +1

No. You want one that has power delivery.

  • Do I need another one?

    • +5

Need? What is this need? This is ozbargain. You buy first. Justify purchase by finding a use for it after buying it.

See, right now, part of me is thinking that this is the problem behind consumerism and its pitfalls and… no wait. I'll finish that thought as soon as I purchase that new keyboard…

  • I see this thing outputs 12v at 1.5a. Is there any adapter i can buy to go from usb to the round old school power plug - like the one you see on modems etc.

    • Yes there is. Here is an example.

      http://www.bixnet.com/cabz4.html

The worry you have though is finding correct size barrel connector.

      • Thankyou. How does the thing know to go 12v and not just stay at 5v, i assumed with the new fancy charging there are some smarts required somehwere to tell the charger to charge at 12v?

        • +2

As you've determined, it's a bit more complicated to get anything other than the standard 5v out of it.
Any device pulling an alternative voltage like QC3 12v has to send a 'handshake' upon connection which requests the higher voltage.
There's a few raw ICs available on gearbest, but I'm not sure yet if there's a simpler plug and play solution.

    • +1

Be aware that output is probably on via Quick Charge. I highly doubt you can get it to do anything other than standard USB 5v without some circuit trickery and let it think it's a QC compatible device.

Edit: You could Jerry rig something externally like a 5v to 12v boost converter but it wouldn't be a neat plug and play solution…
      Something like this for example

  • Thanks for the find. I've been using a few smaller capacity Xiaomi Powerbanks for years and have just held off getting a 20000 until the price dropped enough.

  • Can this powerbank do piggyback QC2 or 3 being charged while charging a QC device?

  • Placed an order for local pickup but no address provided? Does anyone know where to pick it in Sydney

    • +1

Sorry to diasppoint, but looks like their only warehouse is in Melbourne (at least that's in their FAQ). I suppose Sydneysiders still need to select one of the delivery options.

I ordered two of these (the 2C model) via GearBest last Xmas. Both arrived OK after a few weeks. Been pretty good but the QC is a little bit tricky to get going. If you got two devices plugged in, only standard charge rates apply. And if you unplug one, the phone wont resume QC until you disconnect and reconnect it so it can re-negotiate and Quick Charge your phone. Been caught out a few times expecting it to quick charge and had found it was only going the regular rate.

Rated as 20,000mAh BUT thats only the lipo rating. It gives about 13000mAh @ 5v so factor that in when trying to estimate how many times it will charge your phone.

  • Thanks. Ordered 2 from HK with express delivery. $66.88 AUD all up seems like a good price to me.

  • Deal over? I can't add it to the cart

    • Looks like out of stock maybe. Damn.

  • Can't add to cart

  • Yep, page has updated now to show out of stock, so looks like this one is done.

  • It still shows available but not at that price.. Price has been updated to 30$
    And stock is AU warehouse

  • These can be had cheaper from Gearbest at the moment.

    • How do you figure? AU$35.61.

  • About to get mine delivered. Seems like they have shipped out of their Melbourn warehouse, even though i chose HK warehouse.

  • DOA sending back for replacement.
