I tasted a vienetta the other day for the first time in about 10 years…they're shite now! They used to have thin layers of interleaved chocolate right thru the entire block, kinda like a choc-icecream lasagne…now there's stuff all & it's just in the middle…what a rort!

  • I will get some paddlepops. drumsticks are okay but they are usually around $1 each on sale anyway..

wonder if that vienetta thing is any good.

The only iceccream i usualy buy from woolies is homer hudson, and they have increased the price significantly and its rarely on sale anymore. use to be about $4.50-$5.50 on sale now its over $7.

    • Homer Hudson's Hoboken Crunch used to be really good… then I think they changed the recipe and it's not that good anymore. :(

      • yeah I heard they changed it as well, the tubs look a bit different. wouldnt be impressed if they have because the price rise was bad enough..

          yay for diabetes type II

    • I buy the peters light icecream (chocolate, caramel and vanilla swirl)

It might not be that healthy, but its more healthy then the chocolate I normally buy :)

  • 1.25L soft drink also bargain, around 91c/L

interestingly some of the peters icecream in tubs is not vegetarian, kosher or halal friendly.

I don't know about you but when I eat ice-cream I don't need pork gelatine in it.

    • Do you prefer horse's hoofs?

We are talking about icecream, not meat pies :)

  • there is no place for gelatine in real icecream or yoghurt. it is disgusting and i stay away unless its vegetable based.

They put in in there as a 'filler' substance, makes the ice cream taste/feel 'creamier' whilst taking up a lot of volume within the container. Imagine how cheap it would be for these companies to get a few tonne of powdered pig hoofs and bones (gelatin) and add it into the production process! It would save them tens of thousands of dollars in production costs each year. Vote with your wallets!

      • yay for using every bit of the animal that we kill

Yeah I don't like all those airy icecreams in the supermarket fridges. There are a few nice ones which do not use gelatine. it should be creamy without the need for that crap in it..

Did anyone else notice this icecream has been on a diet?
Only 1.8l - not the 2l people would expect in that sized container!

    Another case of shrinking products

  • vienetta is F nice
