You were first to spot it though…

      • Technically you were though if you posted the deal?

        • *First to spot and show an interest to the post…

    • Hey! I resemble that remark.

    • Let me guess, Melbourne?

  • -5

hell yeah! gonna go the grand big mac and $1 large fries. perfect combo!

edit: although i cant see the fries as an offer in my app

    • I think it's targeted to specific users.

      • Possibly. I didn't get an email about it, was just there when I checked this morning.

      • crap :(

should be changed to targeted then

        • +5

That's a change made by mods and not the poster. Not really fair to neg over it.

        • @Clear:
true that. coulda added it to the description though. neg removed

    • Why is antifoam needed? Would the chips 'foam up' otherwise?

      • "DEFOAMER AND ANTIFOAMING AGENTS IN FOOD AND OTHER INDUSTRIES
Defoamer is an antifoaming agent that inhibits the formation of foam on the surface of liquids by reducing the surface tension. In the additive industry it is typically known as defoamer or defoaming agent. It is mostly used in the industrial processes to give speed to the process. There are oil based defoamers, powder dedoamers, water based, silicon based and Alkyl based anti foaming agents."

      • When oil gets old it foams up. It just lets them use the same oil for longer instead of having to change it.

As long as it doesn't have much if that nasty sugar stuff which is what we should really be worrying about.

      • +1

Should try avoid the sugar buns they have; instead snack on fries only…

    • Cool story

canola oil is healthy, better than olive oil. fat doesn't necessary mean its unhealthy.

      • +2

better than olive oil? this is the first time I've heard of this, I've always been under the impression that olive oil was healthy?

        • +1

          Canola has less saturated fat

        • As far as im aware olive oil isnt good for cooking in high temps with

    • +1

What if I suck on the fries and spit them out afterwards? I wonder how healthier that is? 😂

    • It's 49% fat based on energy which is how nutritionists normally talk about food.

    You will stop eating chips…

    • Don't believe everything you see on the internet. Take what was said with a pinch of salt.

      Simplot – fries and hash browns;
      McCain – fries and hashbrowns;

French Fries supplier, McCain, has developed a new potato variety that meets McDonald’s quality requirements whilst providing greater productivity and environmental benefits. The potato uses significantly less irrigation water than other potato crops. In comparison to the potato variety used primarily by McDonald’s, this new variety is also more adaptable to dry conditions and more resistant to common pests and diseases. This means a reduction in the pesticide and fungicide used by farmers and also makes the safe storage of the potato simpler.

The article probably is/was true in the US, but look at the bigger picture. Corporations will take money saving short cuts, so eat wisely. Home cooked, home grown ingredients will likely be better for you.

i watched it and i'll still eat mcdonald’s french fries again after watching it

but not for $1 cos i dont have the offer

      • So you're negging because the deal is targeted which is mentioned in the title, have I got that right?

        • yeah it wasn't targeted for the first few hours and can't seem to un-neg it now. have you got that right?

        • That's why there is a report button, so the title or description can be fixed by the mods.

  • Everytime deals like these are on the Maccas at 500 Bourke St always seem to have 'problems' with online ordering. So don't even bother if you're thinking of going there…

    • +1

you can still scan your order through the self service counters.

  • +1

I really wish they wouldn't do targeted orders.

Also I did a pickup order through the drive thru the other night but once I got there managed to change it to pick up in store. Anyway we're in the drive thru and they asked us to come inside because apparently they couldn't just bring the order to the drive thru window :/

They haven't really been filling the chips up like they used to. I remember they used to fill it to the brim and a few chips would fall out on the way to the bag. Nowadays, you'd be lucky to even get near that point. I feel like the large fries are what the medium fries used to be in terms of volume.

    • Stock control techniques, all businesses do it

      • KFC chips are still pretty full…

    • The large has shrunk.

      • I think the containers are the same, they just don't fill it up like they used to.

        • Procedure hasn’t changed, I’d suggest the service performance has just slipped from where it once was.

        • @Buyme: Actually, I've noticed they use different scoops for the chips now. They use these big strangely shaped grey plastic scoops now.

        • @Munki: true, that's what they use, however this haven't changed since I worked in the stores 20 years ago.

They are still available in right handed and double handed. Trust me, I'm closer to this than you'll ever know. 😉

  • The app seems to be much improved now.

    • +3

      Wow. Much improved. Wow.

      Sorry couldn't resist.

      • Much improved. Such wow. Many fun.

    • Yeah. Improved at being shit

    • I could at least order with the old one… Tried to order today with the new one and just got in an endless loop selecting the store.

Gave up went elsewhere.. Macca's fail..

    • Hmmm really?

How do you select your favourite stores that you have saved?

It always tries to put me at the closest store, which is annoying when on a train and I need to search for the store I want, even though it's saved.

The whole checkout/in experience is too confusing, sure you work it out, but there is no simple flow to using checkout/in.

My app always loads with the banner up top saying there is an issue with your connection which might cause issues.

Thanks OP, was looking for a cheap lunch today. Got a Grand Big Mac and the large chips for $5.70! (Have to put them through as seperate orders - but they brought them out together).

    • How'd ya manage that, good sir?

      • +1

Just ordered the burger through the app, when I got to the store I clicked for it to be sent to the kitchen then immediately created a new take away order in the app for the chips and got a second number, however the store put them both together on one tray for me.

      • I did similar. One order through the app and second used the QR code. Both picked up in store.

  • Oh if only I looked at the app hahaha
Now I'm on my way home :(

Oh well at least I saved myself a buck!

  • Thanks mate. Munching on these right now

  • This has probably been covered but can someone explain the whole ozb McDonald doesn't like screenshots to me pretty please?

    • +1

Companies complain about trademark infringement and Scotty or someone makes up a non-offending picture. Subway too, probably others as well.

  • The girl didn't allow me to scan the grand Big Mac and this at the same time so I scanned the Grand first and went back to scan this.

  • Didn't get this, but got 25% off instead. Arguably better

  • It’s still on, just got a notification 30 mins ago and app is allowing order
