  • Please any cheap refills locations near MT Waverley VIC.

  • Ok guys got it. The empty cylinder is $25. Which is a good price.

Recently purchased a new full cylinder direct from Gasmate for $65. Assuming $20 for gas that would mean that I bought the cylinder for $45. This is now $25 a cool saving of 44%.

I personally have never seen cylinders at that price.

  • Was going to buy this, but after looking at refill costs decided:
    - connect the home barbecue to natural gas. (easy to change the jets)
    - stick to butane for the occasional picnic or camping. Those little butane cylinders are 4 for $5 at K-mart etc, and they and the stoves are a lot easier to carry than LPG.

How long before gas cylinders are $5, with a "safety" chip that only lets you refill from Swap'n'Go(tm)?

  • Bought one today from BCF - all I can say to HomerJ is THANK YOU! Bargain of the Year for me so far.

They shelf price was $49.95, but upon asking they said "we just had another guy in asking and yes it will scan at $25"….I nearly said I thought he had to be an Oz Bargainer!

Bunnings prices are a joke by comparison. Even their refill prices are high.

    • was that in canberra by any chance?

      • no. I guess you saw the higher price on the shelf too? So happy that I can run my infrequently used BBQ for another 10 years on a 9kg bottle for $45 - apparently you can't refill 10+ yo old bottles now without sending away for testing.

Just got to figure out where to trash the old one.

        • No! You cannot refill the old bottle, but you can exchange it for a full one, provided it is in OK condition.
Doesn't matter if it is 20 years since test.

  • I went into BCF in Laverton today, marked as $49.95. I asked the girl if they were on special, she said no, but have a catalogue that starts on the 20th, so it might be in that (you'd hope they'd know). I asked about refills and she said it was $22.95 for the refill. Might try and price match this with Bunnings?
