you only smell your own farts in the car, on the train it’s other people’s, you can pick your nose at the lights, tricker in train as people film and you tube, on hot days you only smell your own perspiration not others .
, you can use hands free to make a phone call in privacy instead of sharing with the whole carriage.

and it’s expensive to afford a house walking distance to a train station so many people have to drive.

i take the train to work and live walking distance to station, actually car only gets used on weekends and only do about 8000kms per year.

That is not a lot of power in this day and age.

7 seconds isn't slow, but okay. I mean I would prefer to get the V6 to get 4.6 0-100, but you lose a fair bit of efficiency.

        • @OnlinePred: 7 seconds is slow these days. Particularly when the gearing means that’s where the acceleration ends. I also highly doubt the V6 does 0-100kmh in 4.6. If that is a figure stated, (I didn’t check), that’s probably the figure for 0-60mph with a rollout. So the 0-100kmh time would be more like 5.5.

        • @Burnertoasty: You are kind of right, in the U.S they get the AWD model which is sub 5 seconds. 5.1 in on road Australian tests for RWD model.

Given that the Ford Mustang Ecoboost has none of the luxuries of the Q60, and a 4 cylinder that does 0-100 in just over 6 seconds, is that <1 second really that much of a difference? Given they have similar overtaking abilities, but just the 0-100 is different.

If 7 seconds is slow, the rules out many luxury coupes at $49k. Oh wait, there are no other luxury coupes haha. I think you are thinking about sports cars perhaps? This is luxury coupe.

        • -2

@OnlinePred: Most of those ‘road tests’ are taken straight from the manufacturers website. Hardly any publications actually use Vboxes. There is a huge difference between 6 and 7 seconds and 6 is still slow. Personally, from my butt dyno, 5 feels quick but not hectic, just a reassurance that you’ll beat most cars off at the lights. When you start slipping into the low 4s, you start to feel pretty quick and it gives you a pretty good feeling. Below 4s is plain fast. That being said, there are hardly any cars that can run in the 4s without enabling launch control. You’re basically limited to proper AMG Mercs (V8s), Ms and RS Audi’s, Supercars and Teslas. I doubt an A45 for example will run in the 4s without using launch control.

        • @Burnertoasty: that's the thing though, 6 doesn't seem like much, but in an actual sports car it can feel very fast. If all you care about is drag times then get a GTR. Although not sure where you do these drags on the road.

        • -4

          @OnlinePred: Bullshit 6 feels fast. Maybe if you’re 90.

        • -1

@Burnertoasty: Clearly only driven family cars. Try doing 0-100 in 6 seconds in a go kart. Have you ever driven anything other than luxury Family cars?

        • @OnlinePred: Does a Mclaren 650S count?

        • -1

@Burnertoasty: It would feel like a bus compared to the go kart lol.

        • @OnlinePred: A Go Kart is not a car. This post is about cars. You are the only person talking about Go Karts.

        • -1

@Burnertoasty: This post is about a $50,000 luxury coup, but you clearly couldn't understand that, or basic aspects of driving cars.

        • @OnlinePred: I'm not the one bringing up go karts.

        • @Burnertoasty: You are just the one with no clue right? I mean you can only try so hard to explain basic concepts to people like you. I give up.

        • @OnlinePred: You should give up, because you are speaking shit.

        • @Burnertoasty: Okay, clearly those interested in a base model luxury coup also need to be able to do bogan traffic like drags. My bad.

        • @OnlinePred: I think you're missing the point. The car has nothing going for it. It's not that luxurious, it doesn't handle that well, it doesn't wear a prestigious badge, it isn't fast. There are many cars that are better options. That being said, none of what you have said in your last post has anything to do wiht a go kart. It's like your throwing out random words in the hope that eventually they'll form a coherent argument.

        • @Burnertoasty:It's a luxury car that may not be as good as it's competitors but is $15 K less. It's actually more powerful than some of its competitors. It isn't that fast because it's a (profanity) luxury coupe! Do you say no to SUVs unless they do 5 sec?

        • @OnlinePred: A Coupe is supposed to be quick. You love throwing out strawmans, don't you?

        • @Burnertoasty: A coup is a style of car lol. Wow. A style of car isn't directly attributed to performance lol. Do you actually have an interest in cars? It appears you know nothing.

        • @OnlinePred: A coupe means a two door sporty car. Cars like the 6 Series Grand Coupe and CLS are not Coupes, regardless of what the respective marketing departments want you to think. Coupes are supposed to be sporty and quick. If they aren't, they don't live up to their image. As for not knowing anything; I'm not the genius drawing useless analogies to go karts, and throwing out strawmans when he can't argue a point.

        • +1

@Burnertoasty: Ahhhh my bad. I'll go let Toyota know for their Celica and 86, I'll also let audio know for their A5, BMW for their 420, clearly they stuffed up as a coupe isn't a style of car at all, it means a lot more. I guess they also stuffed up by making wagons fast, and sedans fast, as they are not meant to be. And what about the quick SUVs, let them know too, clearly they stuffed up, and you are the genus that knows everything lol

          Paging Alfa Giulia QV.
You stand accused of possessing sports car and coupe-beating performance. Your acceleration figures offend British, German, Asian and US marques. This includes the Mustang V8, which is the pinnacle of luxury and performance motoring.

You, Alfa Giulia QV are charged with:

          1. possessing too many doors for your performance level.

          2. flaunting your 50-50 weight distribution. While admirable, it serves to confuse and mislead the internationally sanctioned and long-established Shallot Of Performance.

Therefore, according to Enforcers of the Hierarchy, you are hereby ordered the following compliance measures.

To keep your rear doors, you must add 0.5 second minimum to your 0-100 km/h time, thus allowing the best of HSV and FPV to almost match you, and King Mustang to keep sight of your rump.

          OR

To keep your rear doors and straight-line performance, you must shift 10% of total mass forward of wheelbase centre-line. You must also add a minimum of 100kg to your overall dry mass. These measures will classify you as a Muscle Car.

          OR

To keep all existing performance levels, you must lose your rear doors, thus becoming a coupe.

        • @OnlinePred: Not everything, just more than you.

        • @Burnertoasty:Clearly. Hot hatches can't be fast either I suppose. I'll let them know they should focus on fitting cabinets in the boot. AMG will love your input on how their entire model range is wrong, perhaps they should design their supercars as coupes as their designs can't be as fast as a coupe.

        • @OnlinePred: Oh you think that implies that cars that aren't coupes shouldn't be fast. So by your logic, only one body style of car can be fast, because I said coupes, by their nature, should be quick? You think this is normal logic?

        • @Burnertoasty: It's what you said. All coupes need to be fast.

        • @OnlinePred: That’s obviously not what I said, and also does not relate to anything you said in the previous post.

        • @Burnertoasty:So coupes don't need the be fast. Glad you finally got there. I feel proud! YouTube come so far! You now understand how logic works! And basics of car design and sales!

155kw rear wheel drive - just a tad over a toyota 86, the toyota 86 is lighter probably - I can see why they dropped the price, its not competing in the price range unless you compare it to a c200 benz.

how much power do you need if you are stuck on a melbourne freeway in the morning ….only place to overtake is via the emergency stopping lane.

      • -1

Who uses Melbourne freeways in the morning though? You'd have to be crazy.

        • +4

Well lots of people clearly, that's why they're so jam packed

        • @picket23:

I think a minority of people still use the freeways. If the majority (5 million) used the freeways, it would take an entire day to get anywhere. It's like NYC - nobody drives, but all the streets are packed with cars anyway.

    • It's not a sports car though, it's a luxury car. Looks like a lot of car for the money to me. Nissan build quality is really quite good in my experience too.

You're paying for a good looking car and a comfortable techy interior.

Infiniti is just not a popular brand in Australia. In 2017 it was the 32nd most popular brand with just 776 sales for the year.

    https://www.motoring.com.au/vfacts-2018-winners-and-losers-1…

It's something to consider when it comes to resale value and you're trying to get rid of a car that sells in a year what Toyota sells in just over one day.

    Mercedes Benz 32,068
    BMW 23,619
    Audi 22,019
    Lexus 8800

    • Not just poor sales, but a couple of their dealerships have closed recently as well.

    Why not a 370z?

    • For$49k?

      • +1

Yes 370z start from under $50k now….bit old now but I'd still buy one if I was on the market.

        • +1

I've got a 370Z that I bought new (well, it was a demo with about 50kms on the clock) in 2012. I absolutely love it but, like you say, it is getting a bit long in the tooth these days in terms of having all the latest tech bells and whistles that people expect in a new car in 2018 - it hasn't changed in any major way since it first came out in 2009 apart from a few minor cosmetic tweaks and some optional gear becoming standard.

But yeah, for < $50k there's not much to compete with it - I'd certainly buy one in a heartbeat over something like a Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ. A bit more expensive than the 86/BRZ, but when you drive it you will see (or feel) exactly where that extra money is going. There is the Nismo version available in Australia now, too, although personally I don't think it's enough of an upgrade over the standard version to warrant the extra dollars.

Lack of a back seat or any significant boot space may be an issue for some people looking at the Q60, but if you don't care about that stuff (like I don't), then you'll be hard-pressed to find a car that offers a better fun-per-dollar equation than the 370Z.

        • That's my point, there is no new model. Even still I would buy the Skyline/infinity 370gt with extra seats…

        • -1

@AngusD: Coming from a R33 GTST, 350z, to a MX5, my wallet and smiles disagree with your statement 100% haha.

    • 370Z is a different size vehicle for one, with only 2 seats. Rear luggage space is non-existent in the 370Z, maybe enough for 2 shopping bags. One thing in common - they both use the same 7-speed automatic!

    • Because they were designed right after they invented the wheel?

  • infiniti cars are just ugly and weird looking. I feel good to get that off my chest now in a public forum.

    • Poor Nissan Skyline. I'm sure you don't mean that about the q60.

  • +1

Gut feeling, this brand will shutter….AGAIN

Closed a dealership in QLD, moved one in Vic. into a corner of a Nissan dealership

They are a orphan, nobody wants them, do laps at the wholesale auto auctions, not even a bid

    • +2

they tried to become the next lexus and failed miserably

      • +2

Infinti know how to get down wit da kidz. They snagged Henry Rollins as brand ambassador ffs. A faded, 50-something C-lister who monetises at every opportunity.
        How very punk >_>

        • Holy shit. I was a fan in the 90's but….. Infinity ambassador? What where they thinking?

  • -3

I only drive Mercedes because I’m riiich ;)

  • You mean it competes against the lexus is300 Audi a4 and BMW 3 series.

Some of these have run out sales at mid 50k drive away.

Infinity has no brand awareness to compete so it needs the discounts.

  • +2

    Price match at Officeworks?

  • -7

I can't believe this deal is so popular. I've been researching cars for the past 12 months (I'm very patient) and had my eye on most cat brands second hand on Car Sales. The Infiniti cars rarely sell and when they do its always at a bigger discount than the BMW, Audi's and Mercs. This is the kind of discount that I would expect as standard from Infiniti

    • +3

I don't think you should be judging cars based on their second hand value…let's be honest here, value of cars drop like crazy no matter what brand it is, so most cars are not worth buying?

    • Not sure why you're being negged. Even those that appreciate the looks and can handle the lack of power associated with many Infiniti models don't buy them because they depreciate like stones.

  • They should've revised the look when they could.
It looks like 7 8 years old car

  • 'Sport semi-aniline leather+ accented seating' Eh?

    • Don't forget
      "19-inch 3D Bi-tone alloy wheels"

I mean. This is a lot of car for 50K DANMTP.

  • May as well but a 911 GT3 which will actually appreciate in value lol

  • +3

Renames it "Nissan Skyline" and sales will double overnight…
Just look at how much a decent condition R34 GT-T coupe is asking.

    • If priced as a Nissan and they ditch the electronic steering it could do a lot better.

  • Gonna go Broden on this deal!

  • +1

The Q60 is a beautiful looking car, but the only version I'd even contemplate would be the Red Sport, and that's so ridiculously expensive that you might as well go for something like a BMW M240i, which also has the bonus of being available with a manual transmission.

I wish Nissan would pull their finger out and get on with making a new Z sports car…

    • But with a BMW you have a 50/50 chance of getting a lemon… well that's what I tell myself about the lemon BMW eventually bought back off me… took a year and a lot of effort.

    • That's the problem competing in this market at this price point the "might as well buy a xxx". Infiniti hasn't done enough to stand out imo and the cars are average. People looking for luxury cars will always think of Merc/BMW. Lexus carved themselves a small slice of the market for being something a bit different and for being reliable.

  • This brand will close up in the short term in my opinion. No one wants them hence the price drop. The nissen dealer network is small and thus if there are any issues with the car you will likely get the run around. Also assume customer service wouldnt be great as the dealer wouldnt have the cash flow to do that properly. When was the last time you saw any infinity except for a grey import on the roads. I only see them as I drive past the dealer. By the way the car will sell if you have a specific spec criteria and like the look. Then you may still buy due to that and just wear the cost as resale is not what your thinking. If you keep the car for 5 to 10 years then resale will be less.

Went to the dealer when we were looking at the Q30. No follow up from salemen. Helpful and got a test drive, but gee its not like he had any customer rush. If you were looking fof a luxury car, Infinity wouldnt even be on ppls redar. Merc, BMW, & Lexus do,inate with their car range. Go into BMW and you will find any type of car you want optioned to your liking. Great customer service and dealer network. Sure you pay a premium, but then your resale may be better for it.

  • These aren't bad looking cars. Too much recycled Nissan components but trade off is reliability. People that buy the German 3 probably aren't going to shop Infinity or Lexus? People that are are a bit more savvy probably will consider but Infinity (much like Lexus years ago was) is an unknown so people are going to be cautious dropping $60k+ on a car.

If only the v6 Q60 was offer for $50k + negotiating them down to $40k, then might be seriously worth considering!

    • Reliability? The Q60 GT shares its drive-train with the MB C250.

      • +1

Electronics look Nissan - not much goes wrong with modern drivetrains, its the electronics that tend to cause issues. However, I have owned VW, BMW, Audi, MB in the past with no issues. However, Japanese brands always rate better on reliability surveys. Could be that people owning expensive cars expect more?

  • +1

could i trade in my nans sigma?

      • No such thing. Magna launched in 1985.

    • What's a sigma?

For those who don't know, this is the legendary 'Nissan Skyline' in Japan, although they've introduced this pissweak version.

I drive the model before this V36 370GT SP / G37 S, and it's a hell of car for the money. 10 years old and it still turns heads and people ask me what type of car it is. Rock solid 'Datsun' reliability, tonnes of power, very nice leather, 14 speaker + 2 sub Bose stereo. 245kw. Only gripe is the fuel economy - think HSV.

  • just like the 370z deal that got heaps of votes

Why would anyone bother with an Infiniti? The actual luxury marques are all offering hefty (unadvertised) discounts on their non-SUV ranges as well. You just have to go to a dealer and ask.
