  • Will JB match this and provide a gift card?

Better off going to JB. Sell gift card for $180ish or use it.

    (I did not neg)

Surely that’s quite a different deal:

$49/mth (not $40), port from a different provider (not Telstra Prepaid), 25GB (not 15GB), etc.

      Different all round.

      • +1

Also does not include unlimited International Calls and SMS from Australia to standard fixed and mobile numbers in eligible countries. Eligible countries are Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, USA, UK (Eligible Countries).

        • +1

Yes this deal is better for the international component

      • Yes I agree with you.
JB method is cheaper out of pocket after you factor in gift card.
        JB method provides more data.

The port in from whichever provider part can be worked around with most $2sims or cheap starter pack.

  • Interesting that they’re pushing M rather than Mx.
Probably had too many punch ups in Telstra shops.

  • While this deal has for a long time been obtainable it has become harder and harder to obtain, suggest jump on this while you can if interested.

    • not when their mobile network is not stable and has regular outages and is reflected in their share price movements

  • This seems like a bad deal, you could get Belong month to month for the same price and same number of GB, plus unlimited data banking and shaped data if it ever runs out. Using the Telstra network. If you live in a country area you might be afraid of the coverage not being the same as directly through Telstra, but being month to month you could try it and see, with no downsides.

You can just check coverage maps online. They're accurate. Even better than this deal is to just get boost. Full Telstra network

Meh, Belong has no message bank fyi.

      • I did not know this. Thanks!!

      • I prefer message 2 text anyway

    • I've been trying to compare between boost and belong. Still not sure which one to use.

    • I got 2 Belong sims sent to me last week for a couple of phones. I was about to swap from Telstra and just thought I would do a quick google to see what reviews Belong got. From what I could see they got universally slammed. Consequently I got cold feet and didnt make the change. They could be great, and I'm certainly not putting them down, but its worth having a look at reviews online before changing. Would be interested to hear if anyone here is with them.

      • It makes sense given that Belong is Telstra, stripped of any remaining remnant of quality.

      • Every telco has bad reviews. Try looking up Telstra reviews. I've had nothing but good experience with Belong.

  • Im with boost..
Any way i can take up this offer and keep same number?

    • +1

I'd say by porting to Telstra prepaid first

      • I just got off live chat and tried to get across the stupidity of having to port to prepaid and then return to BYO to get the 10 dollars discount over my current plan (15 gig for 50dollars). I tried reasoning that why not just recontract me for 40 dollars. Seems Common sense is not that common these days.

        • How'd you go?

  • This offer is targeted - via SMS invites.
I guess they are trying to get folks on low and mid prepaid plans to get spending $40 pm, migrating to this postpaid plan.

I'm already on the $40 prepaid plan, and maybe that's why not invited. Confirmed with the Store Rep.

    • Telstra is well known for offering confusing "targetted" offers like Foxtel

It keeps salesmen in jobs after all

    • Yup, it's targeted. I just got off online chat (2 different agents) who kept asking whether I got an email or text. Both of them said they could not assist me or do any deals without that email.

    • It's available to sign up o line via the link. Will they reject the application then if you are not targeted? Seems like the link to sign up is public.

      • I tried that, and it removes the $10 discount because it detects I'm not a prepaid customer :-( This is where the chat folks suggested to 'just continue' and they would make it right afterwards (provided you had the targeted email to produce - which I don't).

        • Oh you did not port to prepaid first?

I am thinking porting to prepaid for a couple days then signing up for this to get the $10 credit.

  • Has anyone successfully signed up for this deal after switching to telstra Prepaid from Telstra postpaid?

  • Been using $40 prepaid for about a year and this deal very timely.

I never received any email or marketing, only knew of it from OZB.

Timely because my recharge was due so I let it expire and the next morning at about 8am I signed up for $50 plan less the $10 discount. About 10 mins after payment the phone was working again. Signed up online and no issues at all.

    • You did not have to change sim?

      • I've been told by a few different chat staff that they have to send you a new SIM. Is this true?

  • No. Just signed up.
