Not bad. Just keep in mind that:

    • The Apple WWDC is next week, so there's a chance that new model's will be released (although hardware doesn't normally feature much at this particular conference) .
    • The Buyer's Guide has "Don't Buy" as the recommendation for current models, as new ones are now expected. https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#Mac
    • If buying a Macbook, Apple is currently facing two class actions because of design flaws in its "butterfly" keyboard design.
    • Only two? Those the lawsuits that claim it is too easy to get food crumbs under the keys, necessitating a replacement of the entire top assembly of the laptop?

Possibly a design flaw, but I’m tempted to sue the disgusting people who eat over their keyboards.

Hey, you know there are far more germs on a keyboard than a toilet seat? People are gross!

Anyway, good advice. I’d wait until after Monday night.

  • sounds tempting but better is to wait.
also wait till any overseas trip too to save on GST.
Not sure if it still legal to claim it when leaving AUstralia just on holidays?

    • Not sure if it still legal to claim it when leaving AUstralia just on holidays?

      why not?

      • Bringing it back when you have claimed GST back means you have to declare and repay GST on entry else risk a heavy fine.

When you bring it back, it has been used, it's no longer new.

@jv: what if you don't open it 😅

        • @sk3iron:

Depends on the value of the goods, if you buy a $1000 ipad, claim TRS when you leave but then you bring it back to Australia when you return, you have to pay the GST back again.

If the item is less than $900, you can claim GST and don't have to pay it back when you return. Note that this is per person though. If you travel as a family, you can pool the limit.

          From TRS website:

If you are aged 18 years or over, you can bring up to AUD 900 worth of goods into Australia duty-free, or AUD 450 if you are younger than 18. Families travelling together can pool this allowance (a couple with one child can bring in a total of AUD 900 + AUD 900 + AUD 450 = AUD 2250 worth of goods into Australia without paying duty or GST). This is called your passenger concession.

If the total value of the goods you are bringing into Australia that you purchased overseas or for which you have claimed a refund under TRS is greater than your passenger concession:

you must declare all of their goods
you will need to repay the GST refund back on the goods you claimed under the TRS
duty and GST will apply to all items purchased, not just goods over the limit of your passenger concession.
Penalties can apply if you don't declare that you have goods in excess of your passenger concession.

I sympathise, but it sounds like you’re doing their work for them.

Ignore trolls, don’t amplify their message.

PS Bought my second HomePod today. Freaking phenomenal sound under AirPlay 2. It is not shit!

      • Thought bout getting one of these are they worth the money?

      • Is siri as smart as google assistant?

  • Officeworks has them for a little bit cheaper to avoid price beating
