  We bought something like this from K-Mart (http://www.kmart.com.au/product/dog-harness-and-seatbelt/722…) for $6. It came with a body harness as well, but also clipped onto the collar.

  Your local $2 shop probably has something similar.

  Are there any Australian standards that these things should be meeting?

  Or are they mainly to stop a dog walking around a car, rather than intended as a safety feature for the animal in a crash?
