  • do people still use ink jet printers?

    • huh?

      • why buy an ink jet? i think a laser printer is a much better option. purchase cost is only a small part in tco.

        • to print photos?

they both have advantages and disadvantages. to say ink jets are obsolete is ridiculous.

online printing is so cheap. why would you mess with photo paper and ink?

Well, there is a big difference in purchase price for colour laser and monochrome laser…

If you only do the very occasional page though I think this HP is a good option. From what I can tell the first 1000 pages would be 4 cents each, right?

I totally agree also that online printing is way better for photos, but having your own printer means you can instantly print those flight/event tickets or vouchers from ozbargain or scoopon.

Personally, being a cheapskate I bought a second hand monochrome laser and have an eBay saved search for any toners that come up. I also got a really old Parallel print server to connect it into the router's ethernet port, and now we can print wirelessly to this ancient lump of plastic and metal lol. I'm really surprised that the drivers are compatible with Win7 64 bit.

Because the only use for a printer is photos. No one needs to print documents, designs, forms, vouchers, letters or anything like that. No sire, just photos.
