          Yeah that's over a $300 price difference. In my opinion it wouldn't be worth it over this $179 deal for this Xbox One S. It can still play 4K blu-ray and streaming media.

          But this minecraft edition looks ugly
          with the blocky colors on the console and control. (I know it is minecraft theme, but it does not look nice)

          No. The One S can't do 4K gaming but it can do 4K video streaming and 4K blu-ray. This would make for a very good and cheap 4K blu-ray player.

          @hollykryten: anything not native will be upscaled on a 4K display. If the Xbox doesn’t do the upscale then the TV would anyway.

          One S should look fine. X is better but it’s youre call if it’s worth the extra money. Not every game will render 4K natively on the X though, so factor that in.

          Umm no. Upscaling is just interpolating the missing pixels. One X will actually render in 4k. This means you will get a crisper picture than an upscale it will look significantly better. You also have higher framerates which equates to smoother motion. However, this is only if the game supports 4k otherwise its just 1k upscale even on the one X.

          I’m talking about the Xbox One S. It being able to upscale to 4K is no different to your TV which would upscale to 4K anyway. As I said, it’s nothing special. It’s just marketing.

          I have an Xbox One X, so I realize it renders in native 4K with higher frame rates..lol.

        Depends on the games you want to play and whether you have a 4K display. I have XB1S and XB1X. I spent more time on XB1S (mainly because I don't have that many 4K enhanced titles and I already spent a lot of time on Forza Horizon 3 prior to the 4K patch became available).

        XBox One S 1TB at this price is a bargain. The Minecraft Limited Edition comes with a vertical stand.

    Can you buy cover that hides the hideous minecraft skin? Alternatively, these ok to be spray painted?

      Yes to both.

      For the former, you can buy stickers (skins) that cover the plastic, but it won't be seamless.

      For the later, you'll need to remove the outer shell and it's not exactly a quick fix either.

    Total newbie questions about the cost of new games:
    1) What's the cheapest way to get Forza 3 on this console? My kid seems to like racing games, but from this page: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/forza-horizon-3 it looks like the going rate is around $40.
    2) Is paying for an ongoing Xbox Game Pass subscription worth the $11 a month?
    Just trying to work out what the actual total costs are (i.e. console + any games you want to play).

      This bundle has 1 month game pass trial included (might also have 1 month XB Live Gold included). 1 Month game pass is pretty decent. You can play the entire Gears of War 1-4 (for Gears 1, play the ultimate edition), Halo 5 and quite a number of decent games.

      As for ongoing game pass, personally, I would say no. I bought 1 month game pass for $1 last December. It was enough for me to play the games I wanted to play. I still have a couple vouchers and might want till one of the better exclusives come out before using them. However, I have PS4 Pro as well though (and PC games).

      At this price, and being a lightning deal, better be quick.

        I've found Game Pass well worth the $10/mo, given that I've been able to play hours worth of Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2 without having to purchase/resell the two games. There's a few games where I'd only play them for a couple months and then not play them any more and sell them at a loss. Game Pass is ideal for this and especially when you have kids that might get bored of a title easily.

      PS4 is more popular this gen, probably mostly because of better exclusive games.

      But this is obviously much cheaper than the cheapest PS4, and can play 4k HDR blu-rays.
