Not a bad price, I've been using the Ryzen 5 2600x the last month and it's superb.

Though, Ryzen really benefits from having high speed ram - 2133Mhz doesn't bring out the true capabilities of the processor. You would need 3200Mhz with CAS 14 latency RAM to be in the optimal zone

    • Any 8400/8500 GTX 1080ti pc's?

      • Unlikely, as the CPU might be an FPS bottleneck at that point.

        • That's OK I just don't want to buy an 8700k yet

    Thanks heaps OP.

Have been looking for a semi decent gaming desktop for someone who doesn't know how to build one (me) for under $2k.

  • Hey, has anyone actually bought a gaming PC setup from PC Byte here? This seems a really good deal and they have a few other configurations.
I've read about a couple of bad experiences with this seller but most of the their ebay reviews are positive (almost none for a full system purchase tho).
I've been holding off buying as I'm almost suspicious that something has to be wrong compared to prices from competitors? I'd appreciate if anyone has had any positive experiences with buying from them?

    • I've bought a GPU, mechanical keyboard and some usb sticks from them and had no issues. Fast delivery and responded to my inquiries within a day. Can't speak to there warranty/refund tho which is the big one.

    • CAUTION: Long Story Ahead, go to end for TLDR

      Just wanted to comment

If you live interstate do not buy from them if you value warranty, I've read comments here on ozbargain which mention it's best to go to the manufacturer and I totally believe it now.

If you want to get anywhere with them you have to paypal dispute and escalate to a claim.

If I had to do it again, next time I'd probably hound them on the phone just got to remember it's an (02) instead of (3) number being NSW and all.

The PSU I bought was an Aerocool Project 7 850W (12/12), it's shit, can't power a 1080ti without restarting after some time while gaming.

They are unresponsive on ebay (msg'ed late feb), unresponsive at their customer service email (emailed early march).

Went to the manufacturer (late march) got a quick response regarding the issue overseas tech support was very timely in responding, local dude said they'd send me RMA details but I was recontacted or they didn't give additional warranty / RMA details though in that round of emails.

Troubleshooted a little more during April/Easter break, recontacted them late april (26th), didn't hear much more from the manufacturer / local warranty dude regarding the RMA.

I also recontacted PC Byte at that time on the 26th, got a response next business day (27/04 hooray!), replied same business day with the receipt (but my receipt # was in title). had no response for a while again. So I went down to scorptec bought myself a Seasonic 650W PSU and had no more issues (4th May) and by 5th of May started paypal claim requested a refund.

They replied to email on 9th of May finally with return/RMA details, sent it back via auspost at my own expense 12th may, I printed the paypal claim out which showed me requesting a refund, citing major issues with the product, sent it back along with highlighted text of the printout ACCC/ACL printout re major problems.

They rcvd the PSU back on 16th may, contacted me on 18th May, i replied 19th May. they reply on 21 may asking for a copy of paypal invoice, and emailed saying they would refund on the 22 May.

I let the paypal claim lapse anyway on the 24th/ 25th 2am-3am, should have escalated,, I accepted but importantly they didn't act on it and I should have escalated it before letting it lapse.

At this point no other option but to fill a card chargeback form which opened another paypal claim which is under review now (up to 30 days)

      Apologies for the rambling.

TLDR: bought cheap PSU, had read reviews that recommended it, but still shit anyway, 1080TI will restart after a while. pc byte will give you the runaround delay shit and ignore Australian Consumer Law and will take your money and you'll be left with a half-arsed faulty product (or left with nothing if you sent it back already) if you don't escalate your paypal claim.

So Paypal claim and escalate before 20days (20x24hrs cos Paypal don't use business days), if not Card Chargeback will open another claim again if you're out of the 180days period. still in paypal review stage (up to 30 days).

    • oh and one last thing is that they've provided a fake tracking number to paypal for the paypal review
