    It's not really a switch…. More a wall remote holder ;)

    • If you want a WiFi switch (optionally able to measure power consumption OR respond to a hand-held [433 MHz] remote), maybe look at sOnOff WiFi switches on AliExpress.com (generally cheaper via their app "AliExpress").

See also sOnOff deals here on OzB… ~$6.00 (limit: 1)

PS I think I noticed some able to control dimmer-level), if the device (eg, lamp) can be dimmed.

      • Yeah a few around, but non aussie approved does worry me for insurance when the house burns down. I really want some of those mi aqara switches, but same issue.

Anyhow, I was more just pointing out this isn't a switch replacement, but a wireless remote holder you stick to the wall that acts like a fake switch.

      • sonoff not Australia approved tho to be installed?

    • Sure, it's not a wired switch, but then it's not just a wall remote holder, it's a holder + remote. There are physical switches on this "remote" for on, off and + & - dimming, which can either be used purely within the hue ecosystem or mapped to other functions in conjunction with home assistant (though that would still require the hue bridge).

      • Settle… I just was pointing out its a wall remote holder. It holds a WIRELESS remote, and you can use this remote in the holder or you can pick it up and press the buttons.

Some people from looking at the pictures may think its a replacement for a REAL switch.

        Anyhow, carry on

  • Bunnings price match Amazon?

    • I have read posts where people have price matched with Bunnings but that may be store specific and possibly dependent on the salesperson.

    • They will include delivery in price match

      • 2 x dimmers = free shipping. I could have saved another 10%… But then there's petrol and time…

  • Is this tied to the Hue ecosystem or would it work with my Yeelights as well?

    • No, not out of the box. It requires the Hue Bridge to work. It might be able to be used as a standalone Zigbee device, but you'd need a seperate controller/bridge for that if it's even possible.

      • Amazon listing says "Philips Hue Bridge Required = no" in the table, but I don't see how it would work without one

        • +2

You can pair it directly to a Hue bulb, and use the remote buttons. But you lose the ability to control through smartphone app or with Smart home ecosystems.

        • @mouski: hmm I don't see a need for this. Let's be honest. We always have our phones with us. Well at least I do.

    • Its tired to the Hue ecosystem only.

Its not a switch 'replacement', this is basically a wireless remote holder you stick to the wall, and it acts as a fake switch. You can pick it up and carry it around etc. Think AC remote holder ;)

  • are there any other options for controlling hue bulbs?

just want to have one on the bedside table to quickly control a set configuration or something rather than having to get the phone, unlock, load the app, choose the menu then pick the preset….

    • The tap switch. This dimmer is cheaper, allows you cycle through 5 scenes and dim. As it comes with a magnetic wall holder you can keep it by the bedside and connect to the wall when you're up. Tap is cool as it doesn't require batteries.

    • Agree using the phone to turn on/off or dim is a major hassle - i only use the app for special scenes or effects.

  • ah ok thanks for that so really just stuck with Hue products.

tap switch sounds great but at around ~$80 it's not cheap!

might try the dimmer and see how it goes
