that's roughtly how much a ps4 pro and a game costs, not bad

    • -1

yep, like IOS ….. they just keep on patching and it keeps on playing…. ipads are still around too.

    • +6

Seems like completely stupid questions are, too.

    • +1

Nah op is time traveling from past to post a deal from past

  • +1

    wow nice.

  • -3

I got it on the last deal, the XB1X is just as laggy as the XB1S on the dashboard, I guess the virtualisation/system shares the same resources

    • +1

the X should be able to do the higher graphics without extra lag ????

will be a while before they have enough X content to be able to do nice bundles eg 2 or 3 titles …. not sure the titles they have upgraded from the old one and S for the the X would really add much.

    • +6

what are you on about, it's not laggy even on the XB1S

      • +1

        Nor the original Xbox One….

      • He's probably still on ADSL

I too have found the dashboard laggy(Most obvious is on start up). It'll be interesting to see what we have in common and different to those that don't experience the laggy Dashboard, so we can figure out the cause of it.

I have a hunch that it could be the amount of games in my library and total HDD size. I currently have hundreds of games collected from free games with gold and using a 4tb external USB3 drive.

      Xbox one history:
      * XB1 500gb (~2013)
      * XB1 500gb + 1tb external
      * XB1 500gb + 2tb external (start noticing a bit of lag on the dashboard)
      * XB1S 2tb + 2tb external
      * XB1X 1tb + 2tb external (Dec 2017, had to delete a few games for the migration to fit. also copied over profile settings from XB1S)
      * XB1X 1tb + 4tb external (current)

      What's you're set up like?

Have an Halo edition XBox one and 2TB Xbox One S

Both are fine, both consoles are over 85% full on the internal HDDs, dont have any external drives connected

        • Thanks for your input Danstar.

Although I've never been bothered by the OS lag, just something I noticed. Never had a need to try to fix it, but with these latest info, I may try to resolve it, copy over my main games to the internal HDD and disconnect the external until when I actually need it. See if this will improve it.

    • marchi was referring to the dashboard. The earlier firmware version of XB1X was a bit laggy (it just didn't feel smooth) and when you pressed the XBox button on the controller, it was a bit laggy.

Later/latest firmware is much better, but Microsoft obviously put more emphasis on the games, rather than the actual OS of XB1/S/X. The games do show XB1X's real power, but the OS itself, not exactly.

While XB1X is the most power console at the moment, the interface was laggy with the earlier firmware versions. I wasn't too impressed with it initially.

      • I'm also referring to the dashboard/OS(don't have a problem once in a game), and as of last week, Dashboard is still laggy.

Turn on the X, dashboard loads up, press down a couple of times to get to my Pins, it just freezes, then a few seconds later, all the inputs catch up and I'm too far down the list. Similar to when you start up a PC, even though Windows loads the desktop, you will need to wait a bit while it finishes of it's initialisation process.

On that note, I also have a lot of pins linking to games on the HDD, maybe that's slowing things down too. food for thought.

I understand too. It's just OZBers generally don't like people mentioning things bad about consoles, especially XB1X. Even if they were comments from XB1X owners.

Pretty sure Micfosoft can do better with the basic XB1 OS for XB1X, but it doesn't seem to be high up on their list of things to do for XB1X. Initially, I thought there was an issue with my XB1X controller. But, after trying my XB1S controller on it, I realised it was the OS itself lagging a bit. No issue during game play, just navigating through the system / tiles on the XB1 interface.

Before people get upset, please understand that we do have higher expectation on the most powerful console.

state of decay 2 now on Microsoft subscription play at $2.00 for a month so difficult to add value to it…

  • If yo can get discounted jbhifi cards this would be even sweeter. e.g., lumo energy (ameego) has 7.5% off on gift cards.
Bringing down this to ~$517 for lucky buyers.

Just a heads up there’s a 2o GB update for state of satay 2

    • +6

Satay? I could really go for some Chicken Satay tonight.

    • It's only a 20GB update if you have the game already installed. Since it comes with a code to download the game you would already have that updated rolled in for new purchasers.

      • 20gb update is small …. i feel sorry those on satelite nbn internet who get rations or on fixed wireless nbn who get bigger rations …. we are due to get nbn coax so it will be slow but all you can eat.

The state of satay is delicious.

    • Mmmm… satay… drool….

I was reading an article today that said there is a price drop of US$50 coming in time for E3.

    • Yep, I read the same, although the discount will be from June 7.

I'm holding off till after E3 in the hope that there may be some kind of announcement about a bundle or price drop. One can only dream, right? :P

      • It's going to happen. It probably won't be the $499AUD that I want, but I don't see how it couldn't be $549.

If I can get one this month for $549 with.. say.. The Crew 2.. then that would be a pretty good deal.

        • Well, by using the $100 Amex rebate last year (around Xmas), the console could be have for that price… but it only came with PUBG voucher though. The Crew 2 won't be cheap.

  • Better than a ps4? For graphics?

    • +3

Yes, it's more powerful than the PS4 Pro and generally performs better.

    • +2

Yes it is. However, I bought a PS4 Pro.

    • +1

It is faster. But depends what games you want to play. PlayStation has the better exclusives currently imo

  • Hey guys, is it worth the upgrade from a One S?

    • +1

Definitely if you have a 4K TV. Can't comment for a full HD TV, but from stuff i've read online it's also worth the upgrade.

    • you still get reasonable money for the one s if you were selling to upgrade to the X ….

price drops for the X ?

it’s cheaper for them to bundle more games rather then drop the cost of the hardware and hardware is a real cost for them, software is just potential lost revenue, not a real $$$ loss, and it’s a sweetener for those without an xbox already who own no content. ….. or bundle some game pass months to get people started.

will be a while before it it in the $450s and what do you do in the meantime if you need an xbox ?

    • If you have a 4K TV and you have XB1X enhanced games, then XB1X worth the upgrade. It will depends on the games and your willingness to buy new XB1(X) games.

My XB1X is currently packed up back in the original packaging box right now. The games I like were enhanced a bit too late and I already played enough hours on XB1S. I did try them out on XB1X and the texture are 4K quality, text - 4K quality, and better draw distance. I kinda prefer better frame rate over 1080p to 4K quality improvement though.

Currently, still playing PC games and PS4 (Pro) exclusives more at the moment.

  • Harvey Norman wouldn't price match. Thought I could use my AMEX $50 off with this. Shame.

    • I'm hoping the manufacturer discount of $50US brings it down to $589AU across most stores over E3. Might still be a chance in HN later in the week.

    • Went to Sydney Broadway HN today and got the price matched with JB PLUS the $50 AMEX offer. They normally dont match JB's bundle deals but based on how the deal was presented on JB website I argued that the JB deal was for the console and the game token was just a freebie that comes with it, and they agreed.

  • I just tried again. No such luck. Makes no sense at all.

    • holy sh*t what kind of a tough sales person did you run into……. wait for the Microsoft E3 Fun Deals to land in Australia tomorrow then: https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/promotions/sales/e3/big-fun-deals

HN should take part too as an official retailer. Amex offer runs until end of month while E3 deal will be 7-17th, good luck
