      It's a superseded model by the Hero6, which does better resolution and image stabilisation thanks to a faster processor. Physically the 5 and 6 are the same, use the same battery etc.

      I'm tempted by this deal but apparently the image stabilisation on the 6 is so good that it can look like your camera is on a gimbal.

        Interesting that I see many unwanted gifts during this period (EOFY) period and in Dec/Jan. Seems like the number of unwanted gifts is directly proportional to the number of online discounts during those periods. And I'm sure many are out to make some good monies. If I were them, I would hold on to some of them and sell ofter a few weeks when the discounts die off and people become more enticed (due having withdrawal symptoms).

    This is a good buy, compared to the Apr deal of $299. And what a joke that Apple AU online store is selling the same package for $699.95 https://www.apple.com/au/shop/product/HL9Y2ZM/A/gopro-hero5-…

    I just want to ask if anyone know whether there is a technical difference between this particular model number CHDAB-501 compared to the most current one sold in local shops and GoPro webstore CHDHX-502. From what I gather, 502 is the most recent version (see https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/345226).

      Yeah the hero 5 isn't the smooth with image stabilisation on. Hero 6 looks like gymbal quality!

      The Hero 5 is definitely a good camera, but I'm selling mine to upgrade to the 6. I have the Karma Stabilizer but it's not waterproof, so the digital stabilization will be perfect for those situations where the Karma can't be used such as snorkelling.

      It is rated as waterproof to 10m, however quite a few reports of water ingress in under 3m. Haven't seen similar reports for the 6.

    GoPro Handler floating hand grip is old version. I guess they are selling this as bundle to clear old stock.
