Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum 1st Gen $329.95 (AU Plug & Melbourne Stock) Delivered @ Shopro (Gearbite)

1420

Greetings everyone,

I'm proud to finally bring this deal back again, this is the new website that the team at Gearbite have made and I'm excited to finally be able to share it! This has been a very long time in the making, I was able to meet up with Sam (the rep) and have a chat about all the different sides of logistics to be able to source Xiaomi products within Australia and it was a really eye-opening discussion. Rest assure, Sam is working the hardest to try and be able to source a large range of Xiaomi products for a great price in the Australian marketplace.

Even if this isn't the cheapest ever, this is an excellent deal and a great way to be able to show off the website! Gearbite offer an excellent delivery service and also have the best australian warranty for Xiaomi products within Australian in my opinion.

Shopro will also be used as a platform to be able to try and bring good sellers that provide great prices for different good review products which are not only limited to Xiaomi.

  • Is it suitable for carpeted floors? And for hard floors with rugs on them?

    • +4

Shaggy Rugs, big NO. normal rugs it is okay.

  • IS this the one that can vacuum and mop?

    • +1

No. But that one is close to $200 more.

    • +1

This is the 1st gen version so vacuum only. i bought this and we've very happy with it. the only problem is that it cannot vacuum our grey shaggy rug so I still have to use another vacuum. if you want the one with the mop function, you would need to get the 2nd gen version which I believe is around $500 when poster here in ozb

    • +3

IMO the second gen has had app compatibility issues recently and the mop is a dumb mop that isn't surface selective. My colleague has a V2 and it seems like given the price bump the V1 is a much better buy.

      • +2

Got the V2 yesterday for $440 from the ebay fathers day code

        • +2

Wow, really? Is that still going?

        • Why didnt you share with us after you got it for yourself?

        • +7

@bghunter: The fathers day code was a very time limited thing. Plus it was a generic 20% off site wide, so no point listing every single item.

      • +2

We have the Gen 2 and the Mop function is really just wiping the floor with a damp cloth… It's better then nothing, but you'd get fired if you called it mopping at work.
With zoned cleans, you can still use the mop function for select areas.

Having said that. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the V1 model for my Mum. who has carpet pretty much everywhere.

  • I was just thinking that I'd love the opportunity to buy from Gearbite direct and cut out the middleman (and those fees). Any chance you can do a deal on the m365 scooter? I'd be interested in a couple at the right price.

    • Also, any chance on cashrewards?

    • Stocks may not enough to run a deal for Scooter. Please PS me at OZ.

      • Have had trouble importing the M365 scooter into Australia. Would be very interested if Gearbite can stock some.

        • Ditto. The crazy thing is that they're littered all over some of California's cities with their scooter sharing services (Bird, etc).

        • @t3chshopper: I think it's because they're technically illegal to ride in most Aussie States without a motorbike licence, but I'd be willing to take the risk. They look very convenient for short trips (not sure a service like Bird would work in Aus after how the oBike experiment turned out)

      • Sent you a pm

  • Might be a stupid question - suitable for hard wood floors?

    • Definitely suitable for hard wood floors :)

      • How about carpeted floor?

        • +1

Yep works with carpeted floors too, but it struggles on Shaggy Rugs from what I've heard.

    • +1

everything except for shaggy rugs, that's been my experience with it

  • +5

Does it come with an AU plug?

Edit - OMG it’s written in the title.

    • -1

It's a figure 8 cable if you're wondering what type of cable it is

  • I'm having trouble putting in a Brisbane delivery address, it keeps saying invalid address even though I select it's suggestions for my address.

    Great price though

Edit: The issue is that the Jindalee suburb in Brisbane doesn't exist in the suggestions.

    • +1

Can you ps your message to us.

      • I'm contacting support through live chat now, thanks

      • All good

Support fixed the problem in 20 minutes, great stuff!

  • Can you ship today if I order??

    • Will process your order, but post office has finished pick up today.

  • +2

I've been waiting for v2 because I want the mop, even if it's pretty bad, because we have a large tiled surface which I hate mopping with a passion, so anything helps. We're also planning to buy a shaggy rug which I need the extra climb for.

But frankly I'm tired of waiting for a decent price. Might just bite the bullet on this and see how it goes..

    • If you have Shaggy Rug, should buy v2. My 1c advice. :)

  • Can you zone off areas with this model?

    • +1

Yes you can, it was introduced recently in the app :)

      • +1

        Are you sure?

I have the original model and don't have this feature.

        • Have you updated the Xiaomi Home app?

        • @doweyy:

          Mi Home?

Yes on Android, also checked for firmware updates

Which region has the update? Mine is set to Singapore.

        • @samfisher5986: mainland China

        • Please clear cache in your setting of mi home app and update our frimware, it should show up go and zoned cleaning function.

        • did you have any luck? Mine updated in April but still has no zone. Love my Vac

        • please make sure clear cache at setting of your mi home app.

        • +1

          @RobVH:

Not with gearbites copy paste the first thing that comes up in google answer.

Once I changed it to Mainland china the option appeared, no firmware update needed.

          The feature works well.

      • That's great if they have!

      • +1

I just did this today! After changing to mainland china for region, the vac screen showed the option 'Zoned cleanup'. Perhaps this was a coincidence? Anyway, when I clicked on it it said I needed a firmware update, which then took about five mins and finished without a hitch… so excited, it works really well and is a game-changer for me with this vac. We have a massive living area and little kids, and I always had to clear the entire living area of hundreds of lego blocks and textas and ensure two doors were closed until it had finished, or it got confused if I then blocked it off from the rest of the house when it KNEW there were grubby floors 'right through there', but now, just select an area on the map, and off it goes to do that area and then returns to the dock. It's just fantastic. You can tell I'm excited!

  • Thanks OP. Bought.

  • Dang! Just bought it last week with 5% ebay discount. Spewing…

  • +1

Have the accessories cheapest ever been? How often do we need to replace them?

    • The accessories of combo 1 is the same price $30 that I bought (with discount code) two months ago on ebay from a different seller. There are cheaper unbranded ones.
Mi Home app will remind you to replace them after certain hours of usage (like this):
      * Filter: 150 hours
      * Side brush: 200 hours
      * Main brush: 250 hours

Depending how often do you use, the manual mention to replace them:
      * Filter: Every 3 months
      * Side brush: every 3-6 month
      * Main brush: every 6-12 month

      • Wow, that is $30 running cost every 3 months so a year is $120?

  • Just bought one last night from Gearbite ebay. SHould wait for few more hours, sigh*

  • will this fall down stairs?

    • No it has sensors to detect them

  • Good price for Aussie stock and "warranty." This is better than the V2 IMO if you don't care about the mop feature (ie - if you have a room with rugs and floorboards)

  • Wonder why they didn't just call it Gearbite.com.au

  • FYI - virtual wall no longer required…

    • Anyone have any instructions on how to zone off area's that you don't want cleaned?
I have V2 of the robot vacuum.

  • +10

    No deal!

I wont buy Xiaomi products from anyone but Roboguy, specially when it comes to Mi Robot Vacuums…

  • Bought 2nd version yesterday :)

  • Does it come with a tax invoice?

    • GST included, we can provide invoice. Please sent request by email.

Hey all - just letting you know that Mi Home is now listed as a compatible device at the Google Home app. So if you link it up with your Home app you can tell Google Home/Assistant to start your vacuum. Tip: rename your device in Mi Home app before linking up in Google - or you can just give it a 'nickname' at the Home app.

Haven't figured out the full commands but "start #vacuumname" (commences cleaning cycle) and "stop #vacuumname" (pauses vacuum) worked for me. Not sure if you can get the vacuum to go back to dock.

    • +1

You can dock by saying "dock the vacuum" works for me or "send the vacuum back home"

    • +3

      From elsewhere

You can give the vacuum all these commands (from the Google support page):

Say "Ok Google" or "Hey Google," then..Start vacuum
      "Start the [vacuum name]"
      "Start vacuuming"
      "Is the [vacuum name] running?"
      Stop vacuum
      "Stop the [vacuum name]"
      "Stop vacuuming"
      Pause vacuum
      "Pause the [vacuum name]"
      Dock
      "Dock the [vacuum name]"
      "Send the [vacuum name] home"
      Charge the [vacuum name]"
      Is the [vacuum name] charging?

You can also drop the "the" before the name.

      • I downloaded the google home app but can't add my vacuum, how do you get it to work?

        • Google Home app > menu > home control > + > choose mi home from the list > sign into mi account > assign to room > done.

  • This sucks :)

  • Will this work in the US? Moving overseas soon thanks

    • It should. The charger supports 100-240V input.

  • Great price!

I bought this vac yesterday also from Gearbite $311 with the ebay 20% site wide discount.

IF only Gearbite has made the new $329 price effective yesterday I would have saved even more!

    • What was the eBay code?

      • it was the 20% ebay site wide sale which is now ended.

    • Someone with zero feedback had it on eBay for $280

  • Does anyone else have problems with the latest firmware too?

It's great that it adds zoned cleaning, but ever since that firmware got installed the robot gets stuck on things that were no problem in the past.

So annoying. I really loved it when I first got it but now it's more hassle than vacuuming with my trusty old Dyson.

    • Is yours saying "error 5 remove and clean the main brush"? That's what mine says quite frequently even though the brush is clean… Seems to be happening to others as far as I can tell from my google searches.

  • apparently I can not order this item. go figure.

    • What issue are you having?

  • Can it work with Google home?

  • Bought one a month ago. Life changer! From the research done prior to buying this is the best value per performance out there.

@Gearbite Any chance that you guys can do a deal on the Xiaomi Roborock S50?

    • yes please!

    • yes please

  • About time this came back on special, belated bday present to myself.

  • Error?

    ALERT
    You cannot order this item

    • May i know more in detail?

      • All good now, refreshed and clicked between the combos. Bought one.

        • Great, please let me know if you need any help.

  • I have the roborock and currently there is an issue with using the mainland china server. They updated their privacy policy and i can no longer use my roborock with the apps.

A guy said that you can use the singapore server but i have not tried this.

The only issue of changing server is that i have to change all my other devices which may not be available in the other server.

  • are those accessories genuine xiaomi? are those filters washable in combo 1/2/3? thanks

    • it is 100% genuine xiaomi, filters is no washable.

  • Are the combo packs worth it guys or just buy as you need ?

  • Anyone tried building a little ramp for this thing? My rooms are joined to my hallway with ~27mm steps. Wondering if this will work at all in my house.

    • 27mm might be a bit too high. This 1st gen can cross 15mm, while 2nd can cross 20mm.
you can try putting on a non-slip indoor doormat on the step as a sort of ramp. Mine can vacuum over a (thin) doormat just fine.

  • Is this thing can be used for tiles floor? Thank you in advance.
