    I think 1st gen you need to guide the cleaner with your hand as it cannot detect walls. That's 3rd gen.

      If you move a bookcase into the middle of the room for some random reason, it doesn't care, it just navigates around it.

    Guys if i order now can you delay shipping by 1-2 weeks since I would be buying this for my sister's birthday which is in about two weeks

    Also, I couldn't understand the combos. Are they just additional brushes? Which one is the best combo?

      please request to delay your shipping, that is no problem. Combo for extra brush and filter which need to replace 3-6 months time. Virtual wall use to stop vacuum enter the area that you donot want to.

          It might be useful for those who often place it around the house (e.g. upper/lower floors). In my experience, zone control is only limited to the map of last cleaned floor, e.g. last cleaned lower floor, can't use zone control on upper level).

    For those wondering the cheapest this has been was $299 delivered a shopmonk deal.

    Beside that it sometimes goes around $311 delivered with Australian plug.

    This is a good price but it can be cheaper.

      I got it at the $299 deal but that was for very limited units, I would personally be happy to pay the extra 5-10% and have it sooner rather than going without for 6 months waiting for a slightly cheaper deal.

        Gumtree is flooded with cheap robot vacs. Either pay for quality like roomba etc..which cost a heap or get this great unit. I know guys who have both roomba and this and this unit gets the nod at 1/4 price of the 980.

    I bought this same vacuum in July 2017 from gearbite but for the last couple of months I've been getting the "error 5: remove and clean the main brush" error, which happens every 5 minutes meaning that I have to manually tell it to resume cleaning every 5 minutes even though the main brush is clean and there's nothing wrong with it. So the vacuum is effectively useless at the moment. This is not an isolated issue, if you google for "xiaomi vacuum error 5" you'll see forum posts and reddit posts about it.

    I'm going to make a warranty claim through gearbite and hopefully they'll back the product they're selling.

      Hey zaidoun, there's actually an FAQ on their website covering this issue:

      Why my vacuum keep having error 5

      A:This Vacuum cannot be used in long hair carpets and rugs. Vacuum detected that main brush created too much ground friction. Please try to block this area, so vacuum will not show this problem again.

      I'd advise contacting them anyway if you're having an issue, they're really helpful.

      Error 5 may need to change main brush or main brush gearbox if you do not have long hair carpet. I have received your PS, will solve this out shortly.

        Thank you, Gearbite. I have taken your advice and ordered a new main brush from you at a price of $18 including delivery. I hope this will resolve my problem as I don't have long haired carpets, in fact this issue is occurring on tiles. If the problem doesn't go away after trying the new main brush I will be making a warranty claim.

      Vacuum isn't working very well for long hair carpets, you may need to block this area by barriers or virtual wall. Timber floor and normal carpet would be fine.

        I think they mean hair, as in human hair or animal hair, on hard floors. i am also interested in this. Some people tend to lose hair and a small vacuum might get it tangled.

      It vacuums it up fine, you'll just find that it wraps around the main cylindrical brush à bit, so you'll have to cut and remove the hairs every so often.
