Have had the P20 Pro for about a week. Brilliant phone, highly recommended

Same here. Would recommend this to any non-diehard Apple fanboy.
The screen is the only weakness compared to other flagships, it's only comparable to OnePlus 6 or Xiaomi 8, both significantly cheaper.

      • +2

Haven't noticed any issues with the screen. I'm aware though that the specs on the screen aren't as high as some of the others

I'm not fussed at all by that though, because unless i'm holding them side by side, I won't notice a difference. Even side by side, i'm not convinced I'd see a difference for most things.

The screen is brilliant unless you're trying to do comparisons for comparisons sake imho.

I actually really like the screen and prefer it over my (now sold) pixel 2 xl. I don't think it's a weakness at all.

        • @gavincato: I am looking at the P20 Pro, I have a pixel 2 xl from JB deal still in box waiting for a buyer, urg. Can I ask where you managed to sell your pixel 2 xl? What do you think of the photos on the P20 Pro compared? Am almost trying to convince myself I want to keep the pixel 2 xl now but really wanted the dual sim and the larger camera sensor.

Then your eye sight isn't very good. There's clear coloured edge along sloped fine lines such as small texts.

Claiming it's the best screen would be absolute dishonesty. I don't need to compare it "for comparison sake" to notice that, I noticed the difference in the for 2 minutes.

        • @gavincato:

It is good, not the best. It's on par with OnePlus 6 and Mi8, no where near Galaxy S9/Note8.

yeah I got this after being an Apple user for a decade…..still trying to get used to it but love the camera and also the never ending battery life

Battery life is insane. I can do 20 minutes of web browsing with out dropping a percent. I've used mine lightly today. It's still at 80% at 5pm.

I took a photo of an engine today and I can read the vin off the firewall's build plate!

    • Switched to one of these a few weeks ago after using an iPhone for a few years. Great phone.

    • Can you please tell us the video recording with no stabilisation with OIS, how is that working out? And if the phone lags on Oreo update or whether there are any other issues?

  • If you hope for a custom ROM, note that "Huawei will cease providing bootloader unlock codes for devices launched after May 25, 2018" - https://www.androidauthority.com/huawei-bootloader-unlocking…

    • Pretty sure existing devices had 60 days to unlock then after that date they are not offering bootloader unlock for any device.

Optus have confirmed they won't be selling P20 Pro on plan: https://yescrowd.optus.com.au/t5/Mobile/Huawei-P20-Pro/m-p/4…

Not sure why not as a lot of people interested in this phone and they already sell P10 and Mate 10 Pro.

    • Dual Sim = no go for Aussie Telco's for some reason

      • Really? Weird as it's Huawei's best phone. What a shame not to stock it. And a load of lost sales.

    • Also Optus have been terrible with updating Huawei phones for some reason. Voda and Optus globally are the slowest for releasing security patches and updates. If you want a Huawei, buy elsewhere outright if you can! My Voda Mate 9 is awesome, but Vodafone suck at updates.

Does anyone know how warranty works after purchasing with Mobileciti?

I’m getting a second hand (5 months old) Mate10 comes with mobileciti receipt.

Do I send it back to them or will I just simply call up Huawei AUS ?

    Thanks!

    • Not 100% sure, but I imagine you contact Huawei directly unless it was DoA (which it clearly isn't)

    • You can PM me the IMEI details, I will provide more info.

      Thanks!
