  • Was in this deal, but not in title ;-)

Got this basic Flex free with UTAS course 2 years ago. Lost my Flex2 (also free from UTAS) for a few days & reverted to Flex recently - missed the Flex2. (Added it to same account & just takes over recording. Used free Bluetooth App to search for general location.)

Downside: basic with no notifications of calls & txt, quite chunky, a step back in time if you are used to most bands these days.
    Need internet connection to sync.
    Older tech, but it's cheap.

Original Flex played up just under 1 year & was replaced under warranty - they could see there was a hardware failure through the internet sync records. Easy Express Warranty claim, quick delivery. Strangely it came back to life - so another free Flex…

Fitbit has just extended its express manufacturer’s warranty from one year to two years after ACCC stepped in after misleading statements about warranty.

  • Why wouldn’t you get a Miband 2?

Probably only because the fitbit app is better

  • thx, bought all 5 colours

  • Isn't it the wristband….

    • +1

That's the deal. This type of device is known as a wristband or just a band - an activity tracker, as shown above.

      From deal link:
Water resistant, wireless wristband that tracks steps, distance, and calories burned. At night, it tracks your sleep quality and wakes you silently in the morning.

Tracks your steps taken, calories burned, hours slept, Distance travelled, active minutes, quality of sleep
      Sync your stats wirelessly
      see real time progress

      • Aw right, I see. Was thinking it might just be a replacement band for a second lol

        • Wasn't sure what your point was, but guessed that. Genuine replacement bands could cost more! (From $1 on eBay)

        • @Infidel:

Yeah, have seen replacement bands for ~$45 before… That's why $39 I thought was maybe just the band lol

      • Also: "water resistant" != "you can wear it in a shower". Shower use can void warranty as only a few waterPROOF models are ok in the shower. Source: fitbit (http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1598).

Surprisingly they advertise "water resistant" like crazy but they bury "it might break in the shower" in an online-only help article.

  • Surprised by the upvotes - has been cheaper & received little interest. It's a basic old model I have gathering dust.

Fitbit support is pretty good - after two fitbit models and 6 support cases, I can claim some experience here. Warranty issues are nearly always "no worries - write this case # on a piece of paper and take a picture with your fitbit beside it" and in a couple weeks you've got a replacement band/fitbit.

But I'm not buying another fitbit. The first one failed to charge about 3-5 months in. The replacement failed as well. That replacement as well. I upgraded to the Charge 2 and this time the bands warped & clasp failed: one light bump after 3-5 months and the band would pop off. After the 3rd failure I took it back to the store and got a full refund: Big W accepted it after 15 months with no argument beyond "I'd like to return this, it failed 3 times this year and the manufacture can't fix it". I was all geared up for a fight, knew my consumer rights - they just accepted it. Kind of anticlimactic.

After my first fitbit flex, I treated the second one like gold - still failed. I give up. My phone tracks steps, I'll live with that.
