Buy a Selected M.SPEC Gaming PC ($1749 - $2559) and Get a Free XBOX ONE S 1TB @ MSY (Instore & Online)

70

Reasonable deal if you are in the market for a new PC and also like a bit of XBOX gaming. Cheapest qualifying PC is $1749 with and XBOX going for $200-$250 this brings the PC price to about $1500 if you sell the XBOX or don't have to buy if keeping it.

I prefer building my own PC's but the specs on these are ok.

Why would anyone need a PC and Xbox when all Xbox titles can be played with PC?

    • +1

I'm pretty sure there are two new forza titles on PC and stuff like gears of war can also be played somehow.
For the few exclusives that don't have a PC port (like red dead redemption) it can be worth it but mostly it would serve as a killer 4k bluray player and a media player. Or you could just gift to a friend/family member or sell it :)

      • -1

Yeah. Microsoft was desperate for sales and made all their new titles to be playable PC and Xbox which kicked themselves in the foot in terms of "exclusives". The only way to have access to all the games is to have PC + PS4 + Switch now.

        • +4

I'd personally just do PC+PS4 and skip out on the switch for now.
I might get hated for this but I think the switch is incredibly overpriced and has not had too many good deals (that I have seen) either. Pretty sure they sell for around 400. Even if you get it on a huge sale for 300 I still think it's not worth the money.

        • @Basimx: Switch is priced right for a 2 year old console that had no hardware revision, can't compare with ps4 and xbox that is already 5 years old and already has so many revision of hardware with ps4 slim and xbox one s for cheap.

Can't call it overpriced really, ps4 and xbox one launched around similar price too.

        • @Letrico: I mean last I checked there were only a few titles on switch worth playing tbh, if it had more 'good' games then it would be well worth it.

        • @Basimx: idk about you, but I think you underestimate how darn good BoTW, and Mario odyssey is. Also if you'll make use of it, the portable part when you want it is very convenient.

      Free 4K Bluray player?

      • -2

XD what an expensive 4K bluray player.

        • +2

Not really, cheapest standalone 4k bluray player is about $200 minimum.

So if you're in the market for a PC and don't want to build your own, why not get a free XB1S and use it as a 4k player or just sell it.

        • @combatant: Yeah that's not really what people use this site for, if the pre-built gaming PC (you know, the thing you're dropping ~$2,000 on) was a good deal, then a free Xbox would be welcome.

MSY aren't doing this promotion so the customer will came out on top.

        • @combatant: I bought a 4K LG Bluray Player with Wifi and Smart TV controls from Retravision last week for $99, from memory it also plays 3D titles.

        • @Lorindor:

Fair point, admittedly I hadn't actually looked at the PC's to see if they are a good deal, which having a look now they are nothing special.

Was just making the point that as a 4K Bluray player an XB1S is very capable compated to the usually overpriced standalone players.

        • @HiredGoon:
If that's true then you got a very good deal. You sure it's not 4k upscaling?

Cheapest standard lg bluray player on their site is right now is $108 and cheapest LG 4k player is $398.

    • I picture two buddies with different levels of cash wanting to get in on the Fortnite action?

  • Good deal for someone who wants to have a good gaming PC but also play titles like halo or forza with optimization. I would worry about the warranty since MSY just seems so shady when it comes to warranty/support and the big ass notices on their website a while back didn't exactly help.

If you have a $1750 gaming computer when will you ever use an xbox one?
    Deal doesn't make sense.

    • I have all consoles and a gaming laptop (had a gaming pc). It's hardly unusual.

      • I guess so. I know I wouldn't use the xbox . I can understand a nintendo switch for portability and exclusives.
Even the playstation has a some good looking exclusives. Xbox not so much. Perhaps splitscreen multiplayer is the only benefit xbox has over a pc.

    • Have all the consoles and gaming pc but my xbox one is collecting dust. Don't remember the last time I turn it on to play it. I got my xbox one on launch date too :/

      • Where as I'm the opposite. Have a gaming PC, PS4, WiiU, and Xbox One X, amd it's the Xbox getting most of my love at the moment. There's just something nice about playing on the couch

        • I wish I could do that but I don't own a console myself :(
I wish they made recliner office chairs that one could actually afford. I'd love that to make the PC experience more comfortable.

      • I have all consoles also and a gaming pc but my PS4 is collecting dust nothing really interesting me at the moment.

    • +1

I spread my gaming between PC, PS4 Pro and an Xbox One X.

Real gamers don't stick to one platform.

    • I do, I have the xbox one for MCC, Halo5, Forza 6 (better than 7) and gamepass backcompat/splitscreen titles ( i jump on $1 gamepass deals).

That said, yes, I rarely use the xbox and could definitely go without it. However, getting it for free is a great bonus.

As far as i can tell the cost would be similar, some parts i have purposely missed due to the RGB etc:

    PCPartPicker part list: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/s8mVFt

    CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor ($238.00 @ Shopping Express)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master - MasterLiquid ML240L RGB 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($86.00 @ Skycomp Technology)
Motherboard: MSI - A320M BAZOOKA Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($85.00 @ PLE Computers)
    Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($246.00 @ IJK)
Storage: Western Digital - Blue 250GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($99.00 @ Centre Com)
    Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($72.00 @ Shopping Express)
Video Card: MSI - Radeon RX 580 8GB ARMOR OC Video Card ($439.00 @ Umart)
Case: Cooler Master - MasterBox Lite 5 ATX Mid Tower Case ($64.00 @ Shopping Express)
Power Supply: Cooler Master - MWE 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply ($55.00 @ Mwave Australia)
    Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit ($119.00 @ Umart)
    Total: $1503.00

Plus an XBOX one deal, of lets say $300….Not much of a saving.

    • ** prices not including postage and handling

    • Is this build even any good? I’m in the market for a new gaming PC.. prefer intel but AMD looks $2-300 cheaper for similar performance.

      • It's not bad. Personally I'd go an NVIDIA card maybe a 1060 6gb over the RX 580 but they're pretty similar.

This machine would run pretty much anything at 1080p.

      • Beware. You may need to get bios flashed with that motherboard and Ryzen is still plagued with ram compatibility problems

        • News to me with the ram compatability problems.

  • interesting combination

  • After spending the last couple weeks going through PCPartPicker trying to combine parts / keep shipping rates low to WA from certain stores I'm almost willing to just bite the bullet on a prebuilt machine. These are the two I'm currently comparing, option 1 obviously custom built, option 2 from the MSY deal with a free Xbox One S that I'll end up selling no doubt.

Anyone with more knowledge than me (everyone) wanna throw their two cents in please go ahead..

    1 (custom built): https://au.pcpartpicker.com/guide/qWLrxr/excellent-amd-gamin…

    2 (pre built + Xbox One S): http://www.msy.com.au/viconline/mspec-gaming-pc/20266-mspec-…

    • If your'e not going to be overclocking drop the motherboard down to a B series, same with the case, it sounds like if you cant build it yourself the case wont matter, the CM lite series has 'ok' cooling for its price range and will be another $40 saved. I would then put that money towards faster 3000Mhz RAM.

      • If I do go the route of the custom built I will build it myself, will be the first I've done but am confident/have some mates that can lend a hand. When you say down to a B series motherboard can you elaborate a little for me?

Thanks for the advice either way, seems as though going the custom built option may be the best?

        • Any B350 board….

          https://au.pcpartpicker.com/products/motherboard/#f=2&c=124
Saves you almost $100 to put towards faster RAM as the Ryzen chips LOVES fast RAM.

Or look at a 'cheap version' of the X series.

          https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/h8DzK8/asrock-x370-gamin…

Basically unless you are going to overclock, put in a second GPU and SLI or need an extra 4 USB ports, get the B350 series and save money :)

        • @XCelR8:

Thanks again man. I don't really know much about Overclocking etc or the need for it. I'm sure I'll learn that down the track no doubt, but if I can get all the parts I need for $1500-$2000 then I'll probably be a happy camper.

    • Mate check out PLE. They are costly but have excellent customer support (compared to MSY) and the guys there are pretty nice (once again, compared to MSY they are angels). They also have a lot of prebuilt options which I think you will be very interested in.

      • Have definitely been visiting their website and having a gander a things, might even head in there this week too and see if getting a prebuilt one might sway me away from building myself. Can definitely see where MSY cut some corners to save money ;)

        • MSY has gotten in trouble SEVERAL times for not honouring warranties. I just checked and the PLE prebuilts seem weird as (profanity). Spec wise the MSY prebuilt is actually OK but I'd advise to spend your time and build it custom. Plenty of lads here who could help ya in the forums.

  • You start off with the xbox then ascend to pc gaming. Something about a master race blah blah blah

  • wow not alot of customization going on in those bulids parts wise
