34kg for a chair. r they normally this heavy or this one is something special

  • That sort of weight, i'd be expecting an armchair.

  • Probably has cast legs etc instead of plastic.

    • +2

i was going to reply and say this, a great deal in itself for just the chair but the fact that the shipping is free makes this a great deal.

  • +2

Free delivery at that weight? a plus from me just for that. The shipping is AAE, same as logitechshop so it should be a speedy delivery.

  • it's 23kg more than the mid back chair, that's a lot, from the picture can't see much that would explain the difference thought, apart from the metallic arms? Good deal if they are ok quality

  • -1

    meh, it will be junk

  • What weight does this chair take? Some are only designed for fairly light peopl. eg 60kg.

  • +1

    available in store??

think i'd rather test one out first before buyng it….

    • +2

I will try and make it out to BigW to have a look tonight. If anyone else gets there first please post what you find.

  • $38.48 delivered is awesome!

Has anybody had any buttock-time with these chairs? As it happens, I'm in the market for a home office chair.

    • Initial impression from spending a total of maybe 30mins in it is that its great for the price but is no herman miller. My only real complaint is if you sit fully putting your weight forward on the chair it feels as if the chair is tilting slightly too far forward by a small amount but enough to be an annoyance.

If you push back with your feet slightly which is how I tend to sit anyway its fine, for $58.88 (or even the normal price of $78.88) I'm more than happy with it for use at home but won't be ordering another one to use as my 8hr a day work chair.

It could be because I haven't had a chair with lumbar support before, has anyone else noticed this?

  • just spotted instore, weight on box is 14kg

    • Was it the same price in store? Any more info?

      • yep same price instore i bought it and this desk which is $30 off http://bit.ly/i97zId. not to be confused with the same desk with the clear glass, which is still $88

  • Lol, I just popped into a store and the only chair they have there is the luxury one. But it actually has the 'mid-back' chair sign on it at $38.48. This is the Rouse Hill store by the way if anyone wants to try and get the luxury one for the mid back price.

Edit: The chair itself is very nice to sit on, good back support and comfortable arm rests. Will buy it online.

    • did u sit on the midback one or the luxury one. Wats the difference between the 2.

      • I sat on the luxury one, but it had a mid-back sign on it. It seems as though the mid-back is made from cheaper material and has less chrome and non-soft armrests.

    • +1

why didn't u buy instore and save?

  • Needed a cheap office chair…thanks

  • Is this chair ones where you build it from the parts or is it already assembled? I'm guessing it's a build type since you can pick it up in store. anyone who brought it can answer?

    • +1

      It's flatpacked. Assembly required.

  • 34.6kg will be cubic weight for delivery charging calculation.

  • I popped into a store to give it a spin. Pretty wide and comfy. The arms and legs are made of metal.

Priced at 78 but scanned at 58.

    Good buy, IMHO.

I picked one up, here are the details from the box.

    Luxurious soft feel upholstery
    Padded Armrests
    Built-in lumbar support
    Chrome base
Functions include swivel, pneumatic height adjustment, tilt, lock, tension adjustment
Perfect for the office or home study
    Chair size (cm): 61W x 62D x 102-112H
    Easy to Assemble
    Max weight limited 140kg

140kg rating so it should be pretty durable, maybe someone could use the 711 slurpee hack to obese up and give it a go.

  • Can anyone comment on the Mid-Back?

    • Slightly smaller and hard plastic arms.

  • does it have lumbar support or back/forth or only up and down?

    • It has lumbar support in that there is a bump in the back its not adjustable & in my case I think should be a bit more pronounced. Edit: This is the Luxury chair there wasn't a demo mid back at Belmont, WA store.

  • Can you move the armrests up and down?
I need one for uni, and it has to fit under a desk.

Sorry if its a stupid Q.

    • For the Luxury no you can't, you can of course move the whole chair up and down.

  • Sorry to state the obvious…this will literally crap all over anything else in the market! The $60 chair I picked up from kmart was junk compared to this.

    • +1

A chair that literally takes a dump on other chairs? I'm buying several of these, just to see the @#$! storm.

  • The "Luxury" chair is "Currently unavailable online". Sold out while I was making the decision to buy. Ah well.

  • +4

Just got the "luxury" chair from the local shop, here's what I found out:

    • Net weight of the package is 14kg, not 34kg
    • The chair is vegetarian friendly - the non seating surfaces are made of PVC while the seating surface is made of polypropylene. But with polypro, it's not exactly what I would call breatheable.
    • The base is metal and seems to be quite strong and stable, although you can get the same base from the $19.99 mesh chair as well
    • The foam is this thing is AWFUL, they seems to be of very low density. They were flattened in minutes and I weight nowhere near 50% of the weight capacity. Anyone who weight more than 70kg should NOT consider this chair as an option. The foam in the seat pan acutally resembles those high back "leather" chair you can find in places such as Reject Shop.
    • The chrome / polished metal base was done quite nicely but rough edges can be seen, the armrests were not very well done and you can see molding marks on them. The chrome trims for the screws in the armrest are rather poorly made and don't fit well.
    • Castors are not rubber coated and not very smooth.
    • +2

Just so you know, PVC and other poly- products are made from oil. Oil is dead animal remains.

      Moralise that!

      • +1

Seriously, the $60 Kmart leather chair may be a better option unless soft touch armrest is of vital importance to you (like me, who's a sucker of soft touch surfaces). Or alternatively, the mid back mesh chair seems to be the best value among all those on sale in BigW at the moment (metal base, same kind of foam materials, breatheable seat surface, less than $20).

        • Definitely. I've got a 4yo leather Kmart one and a 2yo PVC BigW job; let me tell you the leather has really stood the test of time & still looks almost new…the PVC one started to look shabby after a month! I will only buy leather from now on! ;)

    • The foam on my chair seems fine, I am well over 50% and there is still a bit of give there when Im seated. I haven't noticed any problems (or looked too close at the) edges etc but for the price you can't expect it to be hand made by Leonardo da Vinci.

  • Just got my shipping notice. It was sent AusPost and NOT AAE as stated on the product page.

So that means over a week for delivery (at least for me, on average) vs a day or two.

    • Ditto.

Was hoping to get my order today, no chance of that now.

      • Still waiting.

        Sad.

  • Reckon if I go into local store tomorrow morning they will still be $58? Lets hope so, im going anyway.

    • Theres a good chance, I think the 28/1/11 expiry is when the online free shipping expires.

  • got one today at big w liverpool

    • cool i'll try & get one this week if i cans as i assume this ends on weds?

  • Bought the $58 one today. Thanks!
