Hmm the last time I purchased a "AS NEW" XPS it had a faulty touchpad, and according to Dell was in fact a refurb model.

    • I have purchased a heap from the outlet. In experience as new has been brand new sealed box, no marks anywhere inside or out. Refurbished was always repackaged in some way. I'd have no hesitation buying as new from outlet.

    • You get free on-site warranty, if there is a problem they come and fix it.

  • latitude is also on sale

Okay deal on Inspirons there. You can get a Inspiron 13 (5378) i5-7200U Touch FHD series for $609. The only problem is the stingy amount of RAM they have, 4GB and 128GB SSD.

    Inspiron 15 (3567) 3000 with i7-7500U, 8GB DDR4, 256GB 2.5inch SSD, Radeon R5 M430 FHD 1080p 15 inch for $669 is probably my pick. If you choose the 1TB HDD version it's $609 dollars. Not bad.

    • The Inspiron 15 in your pick has a DVD, so drop it out and put in an SSD for the OS and it would be fast and cheap.

    • check screen types, some dell FHD are IPS.

      • What's better/preferred?

        • Generally, IPS panels have better viewing angles and colour accuracy but slower refresh times and lower contrast than TN panels (the other major panel type). But newer IPS panels are as good when it comes to refresh times and still have better viewing angles/colours.

Got my mum an Inspiron 15 5000 (5567) Laptop for $799 last week through these guys. $679 today! Ugh. It was “Refurbished” but buggered if I can find a mark on it.

    • maybe 14 days free return?

      • I sent her a screenshot of the sale price so she can contact Dell and see what they can do

    • Well thats the nature of a sale. Its all about timing

      • Completely agree. Still makes me feel sad for her. Her credit card has purchase protection but it has to be “the cheaper price in a catalogue where a physical store within 25km has it in stock” so doesn’t cover “the place I bought it put it on sale less that a week later”

  • XPS 9560 seems reasonable too - ~15% cheaper than ebay 20% off sale

If I bought the wife a refurbished laptop she'd strangle me

    • +7

That kind of violence is not warranted for a refurbished laptop.

    • +1

sounds like you can save 15% then, what a bargain! Some people pay good money for that.

Violence against men. Australia says no.

    • tell her you paid for the technician to burn it in and test so that she would have a reliable machine …. trick is getting that new laptop smell ….

no deals on la perla if you wanted to get a new outfit for while she strangles you …. don't forget the safe word.

      • "… don't forget the safe word."

        I lol'd.

  • Good luck on chat waiting times!

  • Avoid the 3000 series Inspirons - the quality is really poor. Mine has had 3 keyboards so far. I will give Dell some credit for their awesome in home warranty though.

    • I'm not saying it's good by any means, but at least it's just the keyboard…

  • Maybe a refurbished or as new one will arrive in better condition than the three "brand new ones" I've received. Also, the cash rewards deal the other day came pretty close to some of these prices. If anyone is really keen on Dell (via Ebay), I'm guessing the XPS 16gb, 15.6" will drop in price soon, like the 32gb did recently. Along with another likely Dell/ Ebay voucher, it'd be worth the wait.

From what I've seen and heard on my thread, I'd be wary. It'll be interested to see if the 9570s end up with the same reputation as the 9560s.

    • *interesting

  • Interesting, the one with code: "DFO-F1WPFP2IP" is an "as-new" 15-inch Gaming Inspiron with a nVidia GTX1050Ti for only $909. That would be the one to get.

You should contact them as soon as they start work. The list on the website is not up to date with the inventories.

    • this one, i think was $999 during the ebay 20% off sale, early this month. So, brand new was only $90 more.

    • Did you buy it, it's gone now?

  • What happens if you get a dud? Is there a return policy?

    • Yeh I got a dud - an xps last year that kept blue screening out if the box. Returning it went really smoothly.

      • Did they offer you a replacement? Whats their policy

        • oops my bad for not replying, went overseas.
i asked for a immediately after explaining the problem and they agreed - really straight forward.
I used it for about 2-3 months, and took it overseas and may have got tax back on it too lol

  • they don't do replacement, they'll do refund
    Bought a inspiron 13, 5379 2 in 1 last month.
Having a ongoing case with them with keyboard issue which dell replaced keyboard
They also replaced DC, motherboard and trackpad.

keyboard is output "juws" when you they "jus", only when you typing fast.
also "hugrt" when you type "hurt"

and now refused to fix it, they want to refund me but I won't be able to buy the same laptop with
    the money. Not really happy.

    • +5

lol, what more do you want? money back plus a hug?

      • want a laptop that works. It won't turn on and we had to wait for a week for dell to come.

  • Anyone know if its possible to use cashback with these offer?

    • +1

No. you order via online chat.

  • Nothing left except a 9365 2-in-1.

  • Thoughts on the Latitude E5470 Laptop 6th Generation Intel Core i5-6440HQ (Quad Core 2.6GHz, 6MB cache)(REFURBISHED)? Seems like a decent deal at $969 with 16GB ram!

    Really considering!
