  • It is some stores only

    • Which ones?

      • +1

        Merrylands

        • This works at a store that did not have these signs up (Sydney). Stock is pretty limited though

  • +2

might be better off buying those 5% off discount woolworth giftcard

    • +13

might be even better to use this 5% discount woolworths giftcard to buy the VISA card. 😊

      • +3

and beauty is you can rotate, buy egift with visa1, & then visa1 with eGift. only time will not allow us to save more.

        • +4

You wont get the max benefits if you do that.

        • That's what we call recursive. 😊

        • +1

@Turd: yes would definetly save 5%, buy egift $105.26 with $100 Visa1 on cashrewards website

        • @vv2017: Deal ends tomorrow. Don't think you could get too many.

        • +11

@MelbBargainChaser77: Oh Fellow ozbargainer you shud have informed us as well :)

115 cards * 15 = $1725 in savings you shud get top Bargainer of week award

        • @MelbBargainChaser77:

So that confirms with one rewards card u can buy multiple & get 2000 points each time?

        • nothing

        • -1

@vv2017: I did mention this in another post- so I didnt bother making an entire new post about it. Deal dinishes tommoro night

        • @vv2017: yes, I buy them in batches of 5 though.

        • +1

          @MelbBargainChaser77:

This is why I couldn't find any card left at my local store, All were bought by staff.

        • @vv2017: Exactly what Ive been doing

        • @T-man: I dont work in the supermarket/retail business of WW

        • @MelbBargainChaser77:

so how could you get staff discount on top?

        • @T-man: because im a Woolworths Ltd employee- and our staff discount works on gift cards.

        • @MelbBargainChaser77: The same store?

Not all stores have this discount

        • @vv2017: Also for some reason unkown to me, Im getting 2252 bonus rewards points per card

        • +1

@Turd: every store within 10km of me ive been to has it- although 4 of the 6 or 7 stores ive been to, do not display any signage about it

        • @MelbBargainChaser77: I went to two and both didnt get any offers. Weird

        • @MelbBargainChaser77:

You should have done so. I just learned about it here. Would have loved to know earlier:(

        • @MelbBargainChaser77:

Does that mean the limit is 5 per Rewards card or is there no limit?

        • @MelbBargainChaser77: because it is set as 20x bonus points. I hope you don't get call to your store manager. Headoffice do monitor your staff discount card, buying many will get you into trouble.

        • @samehada: i dont work in the stores, and last time this kind of offer was around with the eftpos gift cards i milked it just as much

        • @MelbBargainChaser77: not the store you buy it. The store you work get a call from HQ

        • +2

@MelbBargainChaser77: I think we have found the new broden

        • -2

@tassieeagle: really? Im not onselling for a profit- jealousy is a curse

        • @samehada: again, I dont work in any store, Woolworths is comprised of many businesses that arent just stores. There is no limit set on these cards as per T&C's and Im entitled to use my staff discount on them. I dont see what the problem is and why some are negging. Also their is no rules against using these cards to buy discounted wish cards, then rinse and repeat the process

        • @Yola: sorry ;( Theres still time for you to jump on for a few cards at least

        • +1

@MelbBargainChaser77: 17,000 points for $500 outlay is not worth the time+money spent

        • +4

@MelbBargainChaser77: be careful mate, a friend did something similar in the past and got a call from Woolies profit department. Staff discount isn’t meant to be used for profit seeking.

        • @MelbBargainChaser77: you won't get both points and discount. Initially it is instant 10% off and you don't even have to scan rewards card.

It changed to bonus points on Saturday and you will get 20x pts i.e 2,120pts for $105.95 card which is similar to the 10% off anyway.

        • @samehada: Anyone other than MelbBargainChaser able to confirm you can get the bonus points more than 1x on a rewards card?

        • +1

@knobbs: limit 10 cards per transaction. You can just scan your reward card and you will see the points on the screen instantly. If there is no bonus points showing it means you can skip that store.

        • @samehada: So I can buy 10 $100 Visa cards at a time but I can do that multiple times or just 1x?

        • @knobbs: try it for yourself ;)

        • @tajid: they should exclude their employees like other promotions or disable their staff card discounts during promotion period for those promotional items.

        • @daft009: PLUS $2000 of free gift cards? And I have the initial $500 worth of cards also, sure worth it to me

        • +1

@tajid: It is much easier to manage by capping the saving at $100 per month to avoid staff's misuse. That's for a total $2000 worth of grocery.

        • How would you buy $1000 worth of eGift cards with 10 visa cards, do you have to but 10 egift cards one at a time?

        • -1

          @MelbBargainChaser77:

I've sold my Woolworths shares. No point investing in Woolworths if their own staff are ripping them off blind.

        • @maraco: hopefully the profiting from pokies was your reason

  • +1

It does say only 1 VISA card so I would not want to temp using it more than once

    • +5

only1 is the name of card :)

      • Oh lol I didn't see that haha

        • I thought you're sarcasm. 😂

  • Works out alright, $5.95 to buy 870 QFF points plus whatever your credit card points you may score.

    • or just 65 cents for all that if one buys them with 5% off eGift cards.

  • How can I find out if this is at my local?

    • +2

      Visit or ring then?

  • Doesn't the fine print Terms and Conditions in the picture linked say this promo expires tomorrow (ie Tues 19th)?

    • yes that's why Deal expiry is set to 19th June

    • You must be new here. Oh right, your username checks out too.

  • which shop did u see this @ OP?

    • Merrylands

  • Anyone QLDer knows which store has this promotion? I tried my local store and the full price was on the screen, no discount or bonus point.

  • So you make $4.05 profit or I am missing some thing else about this deal?

    • if you pay with 5% discounted gift card, you get:
      $100 for 106*0.95 - $9.5 (in points) = $91.2
      $8.8 profit

  • Hi
Would like to know will you able to buy gift card by egift card again?

Or it is only available in some stores that not ban the egift card payment for the gift card?

Last time my local Woolworths just wont allow me to pay by egift card for catch gift card.

    • +1

Last week bought a Virgin Australia Gift Card, paid for by egiftcard.

I think it works on the new Woolworths software upgrades stores, I bought it from a store that recently had the new pos update

      • Thanks, will try again, it seems my local woolies get the upgrade as well.

  • +5

not worth the effort.. yes revoke my ozb licence

    • If you bought it with a wish egift card then you could get $9 profit for each one bought. 9% off money isn't too bad.

    • +4

Hope you will reconsider your position once you factored in 3X MR points on eGift card purchase (at 5% discount via cashrewards) paying with AMEX Platinum Edge :-)

      • What are MR points?

        • +1

American Express Membership Rewards points. Comes in a few variants, but at a basic level just think of them as points similar to Qantas FF points or FlyBuys points.

    • For how pathetic what is?

  • +1

    Or……

$105.95 gift card for $100.65 with e-gift cards. That nets you 870 qantas points for 65c plus at least 100 bonus points with a points earning credit card ($1=1 Point).

That’s 970 qff points for 65c or 0.067cents per Qantas point. Buy 99 gift cards and you get east coast to LAX in business class for $64, but you’ll have a stack of eftpos gift cards to spend somehow…

    • Not eftpos cards

      • Sorry gift cards - but in reality how are they any different from a eftpos card?

        • -1

No they are VISA cards, not eftpos. These you can use for online bills and shopping if needed. Eftpos you can't.

        • +2

these visa cards are so annoying to use in store because you have to choose credit and sign your signature for the receipt, some stores like coles you dont have to sign but most of them you do need to sign. with eftpos card u just use the pin at the back. with online shopping you cant do split payments if its over $100.they only good if u pay for bills

    • I don’t think there has been evidence that you can get multiple 2000 point postings per rewards card. Does it apply instantly?

I’d hate to but all those gift cards then have only one lot of 2000 points post.

You then run into the general issue at Woolworths of the Store Manager or whoever refusing to put through that many cards. Buying 100 odd gift cards paying with egiftcards reeks of suspicious activity/money laundering. Yes understand it’s not but Store Staff won’t understand the whole ozbargain way of life.

      • +1

you definately do get multiples off 2000 points per card purchased. Its coles that limits these to 1 purchase only

        • +1

Back in the day coles didn't and I bought 20k of their cards. Was very good hehe

    • -2

Good luck in getting a reward seat to LAX if you aint P1 with QF

      • +2

I am Silver and I was able to book 2 business reward seats MEL to LAX on their new Boeing 787-9 this March.

        • Now thats a score!!!!! Im a lowly bronze with QF and never see these elusive seats- But Ive found it relatively easy to find Round the world business class with Oneworld and 280k QF points. Having said that- Im now Plat with VA and again never see these elusive reward seats to LAX

        • @MelbBargainChaser77: plus ridiculous QF carrier surcharge… Not sure why should you bother.

        • @samehada: The last 280k QF point round the world in business I did had $1300 taxes also, but the cash cost of the flights in business I took would have been close to $15000, so totaly worth it.

        • @MelbBargainChaser77: That is the only worthy redemption of Qantas points, the rest of redemption for a return or oneway ticket is way too expensive.

    Any in SA?

  • +3

Thanks OP! I wish this was posted earlier but better late than never

  • +3

These 5.95% fees should be investigated by the authorities!

    • It’s how visa and the store make their money $5.95 is split between the vendor and VISA.

  • +1

did not received points at Harvest lake, WA woolworths

    • Seems like Perth store won't get discount. Someone even flew to Sydney to buy.

    • Me neither here in the ACT. The offer is probably specific only to certain states.

      • Ramadan stores only

        No act stores.

  • Does any store in Melbourne have it? I've gone to a few but no luck…
