Omg my favourite burger is back. And cheap. Curse you McDonald's, you are making it so hard to stick to the diet

    • +2

Do they still have the McFeast as well? Normally the McOz is instead of the McFeast.
BTW awesome burger though. Wish they’d focus on what they’re good at, items like this, instead of trying to create the next wagu angus premium organic flour dusted bun served on a wooden board.

      • +1

I don't know if the mcfeast is back, when they had the deal with the double beef and bacon the mcfeast no longer had the deal. The double beef and bacon was gross, but since the patties were worth $1.10 each I made some cheap bacon sandwiches by removing them (added lettuce for 50c, total of $3.30 for bacon sandwich, chips and drink)
Would rather have an actual nice burger for $5 instead of the Frankenstein for $3.30 though! So glad about the change!

        • +1

"The Frankenstein" is a great name for a burger! Actually should be Frankenstein's Monster, but that's a mouthful (unlike the burger, which is more than a mouthful, hopefully).

  • +5

    excl Qld

    :(

    • +12

The burgers are better at hungry jacks

      • -3

but hungry jacks doesn't add drink and fries for a $5 meal ….unless it's some sort of Junior burger .

I tried the Mc Oz, not sure if the meat pattie is smaller or same size as 1/4 pounder.

      • I’ll be honest. I was expecting instant downvote. +3 vote was a surprise

        • +1

3 other people also know the truth

        • @ngengerous: lol. My first comment is still upvoted but my comment about being downvoted is downvoted. This system is a bit flawed to be honest

    • +3

that's odd, I work at a Maccas in Brisbane and we have the deal going.

      • Which store please?

      • +3

Kindly inform your manager that Queensland is apparently the most obese state in Australia and we need discounted salads with water deals instead ;)

      • Working on the GC,you have to ask

    • It is in qld. Got one today. Gold Coast

  • +2

Yes! Been waiting sooo long. Get in ma belly!

    • +1

If you go into customise burger you can change the bun (the McOz uses quarter pounder bun but the normal bun is larger I think?) and get it toasted.

      • does it taste better?

  • +2

Also available via the app anytime

    • Like the double beef burger meal?

      • +1

Correct, like the double beef & bacon meal, and the mcfeast before that :)

    • +3

Thanks for the heads up, loved getting the mcfeast $5 after night shifts

  • Sad to see the McFeast deal go, but the McOz is even better!

    • +2

McFeast went ages ago. We had to put up with a double beef and bacon meal in between. Thankfully that's now been replaced though with this. Just had one, it was divine :D

    • +7

The double beef and bacon was absolute crap, glad to see it being replaced. Hope this burger is as good as the mcfeast was for me though

      • +2

Yeh, bacon was so dry was more like jerkey.

    • I can't quite remember what was in the McFeast - how are these different?

      • +1

Think these are basically the same, but with Beetroot

      • Different sauces too

  • Only Medium and Large meals available via the app for the locations i've tried.

    • +8

The small option sits below medium and large, not above.

  • Is it possible to get this deal on the self service in store?

    • I believe yes but only at lunch time (the mcfeast was available on the kiosk)

  • Nice: https://www.frugalfeeds.com.au/2018/deal-mcdonalds-5-mcoz-me…

BTW, how do you add links the nice, clean way on OzBargain instead of as above? Just did a search but couldn't find anything. I know how to do it in an eBay listing but that didn't work here.

    • +2
      • Yess.

        • +2

Do this [Link Name] (Link) without the space and it'll work. Not sure if eBay uses the same system of hyperlinking though.

        • +2

Directly under the reply box it says Formatting Help. Instructions there.

Essentially square brackets around the caption followed by url within parentheses.

        • +2
        • @sTon3r: Am I going blind or could it be a browser issue? I honestly cannot see 'Formatting Help' directly under the reply box sorry, this is all I see when I hit reply and is in fact a screenshot I took just before typing this message. If it was that obvious I'm pretty sure I would've seen it sooner. I've looked & looked in the past but could never see how to do it.

        • @SteveAndBelle: Click anywhere in the text box area and it'll come up.

        • +1

          @JSQUARED: Boom! You're a genius :) NOW I see it… but I can't upvote you as you're a moderator. Seems a bit unfair :) I'll upvote you in spirit.

I guess QLD isn't Australian enough for this deal, thanks McDonalds! :C

    • QLD, Australian enough, its owned by Adani isn't it, or at least the politicians anyway.

P.S we do actually respect that Queensland is major food producer for the southern states.

      • You'd better or we will cut off your banana supply and send you more Clive Palmers and Pauline Hansons.

    • Wrong, got one today. Just ask for it.

  • -8

    I can do without beetroot.

    • +4

Sorry but I’m gonna have to revoke your australian citizenship.

  • In before the health whingers.

    • I'm sad that there isn't a list of ingredients yet

      • I'm sad there's no staff hack on how to get this down to $3.25 yet

        • +1

Take out beef pattie to save $2.25, meal now costs $2.75

Edit: and add 3x pickles to burger and free tomato ketchup from condiments.

        • +1

@em: Actually I wish I'd thought of this when it was double beef and bacon - I would have been ok being one pattie down for a $2.75 meal!

        • @em: the problem with modifying the beef and bacon was they would usually remove both patties. Alright if you ate in store as you could get them to fix it but too annoying if takeaway. Easier to just remove both (rather than paying for one and not getting it) and have a bacon sandwich. The patties on the beef and bacon were $1.10 each from memory.

  • This must be the first time QLDers don't get preferential fast food deals.

    • I think it has to do with QLD having the highest rate of obesity in Australia … 64% overweight …. only leaves 36% of Queenslanders who should be worried about not getting this offer.

      https://cancerqld.org.au/news/queensland-regions-hit-heavy-s…
"Obesity rates have increased in Townsville faster than any other region in Australia over an eight-year period, a new report has found.

The number of obese and overweight adults rose by 20 per cent in the wider Townsville region between 2007-2008 and 2014-2015 – the highest increase observed in Australia, Progress in Australian Regions* showed."

We are playing catch up down south …. had the Mc Oz meal for lunch today.

      • Jesus. Looked at that link. Apparently 80% of my region is obese 👀. That can’t be right…..

        • Overweight and obese, not just the obese. It's shocking when you actually look for it, and start counting people.

          6'0" and 83kg = overweight.
          6'0" and 100kg = obese (class 1)

          http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/conten…

It could just be everyone in your area is a 120kg of pure bodybuilding muscle.

edit: just noticed I necro'd this.

    • Wrong got one today. Asked for it.

  • Not there for me :(

    • +1

It doesn't sit in rewards, you need to go to classic burgers - McOz - scroll down to small meal. Hope this helps.

      • Thanks but McOz isn't in my classic burgers category either.

        • +1

Do you still have the double beef and bacon at $5 by any chance?

        • Yeah I do. Probably a tastier option but miss the McOz. First world problems.

        • @Snoutface: if you update the app it will probably be there

        • +1

@Quantumcat: Yeah… I tried telling the mods here that the beef and bacon burger deal is no longer available and should be marked expired, but they were like 'yeah nah it's still showing up in my app' but I'm pretty sure it's just that their app is buggy haha.

        • Update: McOz $5 small meal is now showing for me on the app.

        • +1

@Snoutface: Welcome to the best day of your life…

        • Up all night on the toilet though? Will be worth it!

        • @em:

It was definitely available yesterday as I was able to put through an order. However I've installed a second app on Parallel Space and can see the deal for $5 small meal is now only for the McOz burger.

        • @em: The double beef and bacon deal is still on in QLD because QLD doesn't get the new McOz this time around for some bizarre reason.

  • Having trouble in the app. Apparently there are 'no restaurants' in Perth when trying to order on app. Hmmm…

    • The meal is showing on drive through screens in Perth but operators don't seem to have the ability to place the order on their systems.

  • +1

so a mcfeast.. with beetroot 😂

  • +3

    Just had one. Tasty AF.

  • Why no QLD? It's not like KFC where there are different franchise owners, so what gives?

    • Because you constantly have 9 pieces for $9.95 at KFC ;)

  • To anyone that can't find it, try reinstalling the app, should do the trick.

  • What's in a McOz?

  • Can't find it in the Sunnybank store…

    • Sunnybank, although having one of the highest Chinese populations per capita in Australia (over 40%), has yet to abdicate from Queensland and form a sovereign state. So the part where OP said "Excl Qld" still applies.

  • If you are on Android avoid downloading it's a creepy wants every permission including making phone calls.

    • What do you do on your phone that you'd be scared of a takeaway shop knowing about (even though that's not how permissions work)?

  • +1

    I lost 10lbs last week…but i guess it'll be going straight back on !!

  • WHY NOT QLD?! :-(

    • +1

Because the other states are jealous of how awesome QLD is

    • It is you are doing it wrong.

  • If you wanted more info on the McOz like me, check out this vomit inducing website design: http://mcdonalds.wikia.com/wiki/McOz

    • Well, for a fan-made Wikia, I don't see why you'd expect anything more than that.

  • What happened to the grilled onions??

  • Not available in sydney wtf.. Not in apps, try order in store and its full price..

    • If it helps at all, the fourth tab along on the Maccas website banner shows the $5 for a small McOz meal deal: https://mcdonalds.com.au/

      • -1

Huh? I mean the offer is not on for sydney, not that I cant find detail regarding 🍔
