  • probably should have put this in the other MSY post as per ozbargain guidelines…. yeah was looking at that as well.. pretty decent.

  • Unfortunately none in WA.

EDIT - Seems out of stock in all states.

    • Give them a call… their stock status is crap.

      • +4

If they do answer the phone, they will probably just tell you its in stock to get you to come into the store, even if its sold out. Happend to me before.

        • +7

You could ring them while queue and ask if it's in stock. By the time you get to the counter they could have sold the last item.

        • Same thing happened to me at Sydney CBD store

      • +2

The Gold Coast store NEVER answers their phone, the guy there is an absolute joke.

  • OOS

  • So do they actually have stock, or did you read this off their PDF?

  • how long till SSDs start falling price?

    • Uhh.. technology always falls in price unless the AUD suddenly drops like a rock vs the USD

    • SSD have fallen massively, 120GB drives were $500+ only 6-8mths ago

      • 120GB G.SKILL 16 months ago $435. So I don't beleive $500 plus 8 months ago, maybe for intel. But the price is great. Just use as boot drive with Apps. Put data on another drive.
With laptop, if you dont use the DVD burner then install the HDD in there and the SSD in the HD slot.

  • msy is hopeless. They advertise low price as bait as I have wasted a lot of time going there on many occasions and having being told they have no stock.

    • +2

I used to think that. However their lazy staff don't even try to sell you anything after telling you what you're after is out of stock.

My conclusion is they waste your time out of simple incompetence.

    • +2

I disagree. I dont reckon they are hopeless and bait advertise…. thats a little harsh. And if you've "wasted a lot of time going there on many occasions", maybe try the telephone first. They obviously have very competitive pricing (not many folk will argue that), and maybe because of that things sell quick. I've bought from them in the past and havent had any issues tbh. Yeah the sales guys dont upsell you or even seem like they care that much, but I actually like that. Don't want a salesman telling me bullcrap, just want my stuff and get out.

      • +2

They never answer the phone in Melbourne. Never. You can try for hours.

EDIT: Neg for no stock - pointless post unless you can buy this item yeah? Happy to revoke if someone can confirm all stores stock levels for us :P

    • -1

Haven't upgraded from the tin can and string yet champ?

  • new intel ssds in feb they say

  • Bought this from MSY for $235 a while ago. Great drive and even faster than the X25. Will upgrade when the Sandforce 2000 controller becomes mainstream.

  • +2

Lol I saw this but it was sold out so i didnt post it =P

  • Website says out of stock.
I rem seeing this ad a week or so ago, is this new ???

  • No stock in any store in every state according to their website. Why bother dropping the price when no stores even have any stock?

    • To troll us?

  • Overclockers.co.UK has some cheap SSD's if you are also buying a 2600k from them instead of waiting for Aussie suppliers…

  • No point posting if the OP hasn't been able to get one from MSY. They always advertise low when ere is no stock.

Something's up though because even PCCaseGear has no stock and they don't know when it will be back. I think a new version is on its way.

  • I'm negging this for two reasons:

    A) MSY do this with X number of products. It's a standard strategy of theirs hoping to attract walk-ins to honey-pot deals that they know beforehand are sold out or close to selling out.

    B) Even IF you call up and by some miracle (literally Biblical) a breathing, conscious Homo Sapien answers the phone on the other end, you can often get contradictory reports on stock levels. I don't know whether it's just the bumbling idiots they have as staff or a more sinister marketing gimmick they pull, but it has happened. Also, trying to place things on reserve/hold often doesn't work as they simply will not call back when stock does arrive.

    • just check there online store, tells you which stores have stock…and yeah its currently out of stock in all stores…
