It's fairly safe to say that the original Beats by Dre Solo is one of the most—if not the most—popular headphones in the world.

You might want to do a quick Google search, you obviously don’t know who Tyll Hertsens is. Also, how does his statement about Beats being POPULAR have any bearing on his credibility?
The difference between you and this Tyll fellow is Tyll looks at sales records where you use your imagination.
I’ve noticed a lot less beats around. Bose is taking its place with almost everyone having QC35’s on public transport. But these are wireless so they have one thing going for them.
Beats really lost momentum after they got acquired by Apple

Bose never left. They were never competing: dre and iovine state as much on public. Beats were made for base and high volume music. Bose were made for quality delivery and ANC. Source: iovine statements on defiant ones.

I take the train into the Sydney cbd to work and home again every day and this sounds like hyperbole to me. In my experience, far more people use cheap earbuds than either Bose or Dre.
Yeah. Dont know about almost everyone using them. There seem to be more and more i see who has them though.
I take the bus. Probably different demographic then.
solo 2 arent bad for this price.
i have these, they're easy listening, enough bass, enough mids enough highs, non fatiguing, comfortable, wireless… all pretty good, not stand out.
what does stand out is BATTERY LIFE. i went for a trip to canberra for 3 weeks and used them for my commute, and barely ran out of juice. even after 1.5 years of use the battery remains solid.
Was your commute from Fyshwick though?
