Good price I believe for the tp-link hs110 switch with power monitoring. I'm getting a couple just to help monitor power via home assistant and have the ability to control remotely.

    • Don't they have $20 delivery? Edit: Oh, I see same thing here - Ebay Plus sub.

    • Bummer where were you when I placed my order!? :)

      • Haha, ordering mine when I saw the previous HS100 post :-P

  • How does the power monitoring work?? Ive never used a power socket monitor but recently my reverse cycle has to heat both master bedroom and constant zone so i am tossing up buying a cheap heater i.e. oil column heater, or an alternative such as ceramic, radiator etc and trying to work out power usage.

I know kwh can be calculated off watts of the power option but figured each device regulated powet use up to the maximum watts so to compare accurately would need a power monitor??

    • You can view current and cumulative power usage via the kasa app or through home assistant if you want to go the whole smart home direction. I find this more useful than the arlec style plug in digital meters.

      • Thanks - is Kasa app there in house app? Or is home assistant google home assistant? I just have no experience in the area, so curious like how easy it is to use these apps across various phones or platforms.

Would the app show you real time power usage like some of those setups (i.e. time, power use quantity etc) and even allow remote control over the power point to switch it off (if you forgot to and gone to work)?

This might be a great way on deciding on a heater for us, albeit we'd have to buy the heater then test them the hard way.

        • Yes Kasa is the tp-link specific app. I believe they have apps for both ios and android platforms. It provides real time power usage and allows you to control the outlet directly (both within your LAN and remotely if you chose to).

Home assistant is a smart home application that is generally run on small raspberry pi and python supporting platforms. I wouldn't go with home assistant unless you're ready to invest some time to set it up, etc…

But Kasa sounds like it may be a good solution.

  • Is the key difference between this HP 110 model and the HP 100 model being ozbargained currently the power monitoring? I.e. this model is one up as it has the power monitoring, wherea sthe HP 100 is just a wireless socket etc?

    • Yes - which I believe is a major difference. Being able to monitor power usage is worth that price alone IMHO. You could do something similar using xiaomi outlets, but they max out at 2200watts, which won't handle most heater and AC products. This is spec'd to handle up to 3680watts! Don't know how accurate that max is but pretty sure it will support most 10A heater/AC products.

      • Great! I wanted to get this but it may hvae run out. Is there any way to access the $34 price at the time without signing up for this ebay plus thing that has been launched? Was just abit worried about getting the 'free' trial and forgetting or getting honey trapped into exiting it properly before your charged for it.

        • It's $39 from shopping express (see post at top). 20% off for ebayplus members. Just set a calendar reminder or cancel just after placing your order.

        • @wolfshooter:

Unfortunately even shoppingexpress has no stock, let alone if is igned up for ebay plus :(
