Personal Thoughts

I've had it for a few days after upgrading from a Tenda Nova MW6 which would cap at around 50Mbps. This one is maxing out my 100Mbps connection from the furthest point over a medium signal across a 3 storey house using a wireless backhaul. Also this is not the XE75 Pro

  • Have these, great units, good reception throughout the house. Only negative is only 1gbps ports, Pro has single 2.5gbps

    • And losing LAN function when internet is down….. their WAN auto-sensing is a shocking design face plant.

    • Is the high speed useful for streaming from local storage or something?
My internet is 100/20 so trying to understand use case for multi Gbps ports

      • +1

Local storage, security cameras, things like Plex and all other kinds of self hosted services.

        • Thanks, makes perfect sense!

  • How does this compare to Asus?

    • It doesn’t. I even rate the Orbi better than this from my experience.

    • I got rid of Asus XD6 because of connectivity issues (strong signal, remained connected, but no throughput after a few days). Had to reboot more than once a week. Especially my Google cameras were affected and stopped uploading videos after a few days.

Replaced with XE75Pro and everything is stable. The pro is the same except for 1 x 2.5Gbps port.

  • what is the GGC price on TP-Link Deco BE65 (wifi 7) and is it worth the extra?

    • +1

This one and the BE25 BE5000 for $381 are the only TP-Link 3 packs on the site at the moment. The BE65 single is $701.

  • I use these around the house, I'm getting 650mbs wireless using the Wifi 6 connection.

I'm really happy with them, they are 'wife friendly' in their design & once setup they are the type of system that's set & forget.

I've probably setup ten of these at friends houses, GGC always has the best price by a fair margin.

    • I'm assuming this is using ethernet backhaul to connect the nodes, right? Because I'm using wireless and can barely get above 100mbps

      • +1

No. Interestingly I had the same issue with a mates house, this is how I fixed it.

        Turn off the fibre modem.
        Turn off the decos.
        Leave 5 mins.
Turn on the fibre modem first, wait till fully reconnected.
        Then turn on decos.

They were stuck at 100, that fixed it.

Note, the connection is a fibre 1000, all three decos are all full bar connection. You need a device that supports the wifi 6 connection

        • I'll give this a go tomorrow morning when the family is still asleep! I'm HFC so I'm assuming the fibre modem you're referring to is the black NBN box

          • +1

@ericshurn: nbn FTTP NTD box is white. HFC NTD box is black.

          • @ericshurn: Same, same. There seems to be a bug where the deco's just get stuck at 100. This fixes it, it seems to be when the deco switches on before the modem.

As long as you are on a higher speed plan & dont have a 'none gigabit switch' this should work, did for me.

      • I had this issue but on a different model, so it might not be the same.

I had turned on QoS and set the Total Bandwidth setting to 50/20 (previous internet speed) and when I got a better NBN plan it would limit everything to 50/20 until I changed it to be 200/40 (current internet speed) and that fixed it. Now I just have it set to 1000/1000 so it won't limit at all

  • Upgraded to this from my 7 yr old Netgear Orbi (also from 2 units to 3 units).

Once positioned right, it's great and easy to manage. I like their apps as well. I have Telstra Home 5G as provider and I'm getting good speed and connection around the house.

Bing Lee had a deal earlier at $449 and I was able to price beat/price match with Officeworks and got mine for $426.55.

    • do you use wired or wireless backhaul?

      • All wireless.

Using Home 5G, i'm generally getting 150-350 Mbps for download.

I don't have any NAS setup or media center so generally speaking the speed bottleneck is more the internet provider than anything.

  • Have had these for around 4 years I think - fricken awesome. No complaints, great app too. Came from the Netgear Orbi RBK50 (2 units)

    • do you use wired or wireless backhaul?

      • +1

        Wired

  • How is this compared to Deco X95?
    Currently I have 2 x Deco X95.
Will it be an upgrade or downgrade if I replace 2 x Deco X95 with 3 of this?

  • bought via my good guy commercial account.
