  • What do you mean by, "there's often a lot of hate for Daniel Wellington watches"?
Are they good watches, or nah?

There's no "hate" - just observations that you are buying a "name" from a trite little story that sounds made up and getting nothing you couldn't get far cheaper from the same factories. Distain may be a better term, but even that is unkind.

I don't mock those who post Hungry jacks or McDonalds bargains, and have enjoyed them myself. I would and do pass comment if the companies were to suggest that the idea for their food came to them when they saw a tramp hungrily tucking into such a product and then endeavour to represent the meal as the equivalent of a Chateaubriand at Maxims…

You're saving those who want to buy them money. Well done..

Negging because much cheaper elsewhere …

    $108 - 5% code PULL5 = $102.60 + $9 Standard Postage = $111.60 … 52% of OP's discount price for fellow OzBargain Members.

… and OP is already entirely aware Daniel Wellington are the epitome of poor value horologically.

Wow you've got a good memory. This post is starting to look like an exact copy of that one posted 10 months ago.

Why would the same OP post a 3rd Daniel Wellington deal?

      • +4

Good question, because this is nowhere near a bargain. This is one of those rare occasions I neg a deal from a non-Rep.

        Ooooh you smell that?

OP needs to change socks more often.

It absolutely blows my mind that places like David Jones and Myer have DW watches at $250-$350. Think about the massive massive profit margins.

To be frank, there's no need to spend more than $100 on a watch, quartz or automatic. There are PLENTY of styles out there from decent brands that would suit most people in any setting.

You are better off buying a new cheapo quartz watch like a Naviforce Casio Citizen Seiko etc. and changing the battery yourself when it comes time.

Hell, you could throw out a Naviforce every time it kills the battery and buy a new 9044 its still better than buying a DW or MVMT or…

Negging as lower price elsewhere found by member PJC. Even at 15% discount this brand is still selling overpriced quartz watches.

  • THANKS FOR THE CODE!! :)
I got a new watch band. And I don't really get the hate for Daniel Wellington.

I've scoured the internet looking for something minimalist-looking, with a 'ladies' fit ~32mm wide, under $200.
And the closest thing I could find was Fossil. So DW looks way better, and their Petite range fits alright too.

Like I hate kate spade and mimco, etc. And all the men's brands look amazing but are way too big.
So I'm just sticking to DW until I find a better alternative

    • We come here for bargains. These are the clearest example of poor value in watches. One Member reported the dial is paper. No watch in the entire range features sapphire crystal, which for their price level is scandalous.

    • Consider this and this and this.
