I don't normally recommend the 6gb version, but for only a sub $50 difference i definitely think its the better buy. normally the price difference is 100+

  • +3

They're being a bit stingy with that 8gig of ram lol

I have been looking around eBay since there is a deal on, but I haven't been able to find any other computer packages at this price point with 16GB of RAM unfortunately that is similar or better to the setup here.

Still browsing, will update if I find anything

      • Please do. I am on the lookout/waitting for a good laptop/desktop deal to appear. So far im shocked there hasn't been one.

Can you also add their upgrade option?
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161813007228

    • to be fair RAM prices are insanely high atm

    • To Upgrade it to 16GB is about $127, bringing it to $1120.

  • Is there a simmilar ryzen system available?

    • They do seem to have this - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/152990025065 - $1266.10

However, unlike the other packages with does not come with an SSD or Windows 10 and you would to buy them separately as upgrades it seems

      • Wow. Ryzen system comes with a 1080. Not sure about this processor as have been using Intel for more than 10 years now. Purchased Samsung SSD, so not an issue as well.

Go for it. With a 1080, you're probably gaming at >1080p, so the CPU won't bottleneck for gaming. And in other tasks, the 2600's 12 threads will be great.
Only issue there is the 2133mhz RAM which is kinda slow, but you might be able to run it at 2400 or more.

  • This is a pretty good deal for anyone looking for a new rig for 1080p gaming.

  • I want to get a VR ready PC. Any suggestions on this build and which options I should consider upgrading?
Not sure I like that some of their parts are listed as unbranded.

looks decent, be aware though, it does not come with Windows. Though i guess it doesn't matter if you have your own copy or if you can acquire it cheaper on "The Internet"

      • Aware of the no windows, you can add a copy through here at it's 15% off also:
        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/152119116984

I'd probably want to add liquid cooler also. Still worried the RAM type isn't specified…

        • You can get windows 10 keys fot like 15 dollars on kinguin.

    • Ryzen 5 2600 GTX1080 8GB - $1266.10 Delivered

      • AMD 6-Core Ryzen 5 2600 3.4GHz ~ 3.9GHz (6 Cores 12 Threads)
      • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 with 8GB

Linked above, a lot cheaper in $$$, but not significantly different in performance. Of course the 8700k is faster, but its almost twice the price.

      Can upgrade RAM to 16GB

    • Maybe check out some PC Meal listings. Offer some better case choices and you only need to add a third party cpu cooler

The amd build is nice unfortunately the low ram speeds will effect ryzen with such a GPU

    • Yep. Would need to bump that RAM speed up a bit.
Not as big an issue as the Ryzen 1xxx series though.

What happened to the price of the Ryzen build? A bit of price-jacking ?

  • Hey guys, pretty new here. Was just wondering, how often do deals like this one come (budget gaming desktops around $1k)? I am considering purchasing one in 2-3 months as I am running low on money at the moment.

    • +1

The 1060 deal pops up regularly at around the same price (usually 999, though not always with an SSD). Haven't seen the Ryzen one with a 1080 before myself.

Dell usually has the gaming desktop on sale for sub 1k with 1060 and current gen i5. Keep an eye out for it
