PIZZAZZ

Hi

I'm in the market for a washing machine as mine broke last week and found this and seems like a good deal. Keen to know everyone's thoughts and if there is a better buy around the circa $600 or less mark?

  • LG washing machine are cheaper and also pretty good. I decided on it last year for the extra 100$ bought extra 3 year warranty from Harvey norman. So hopefully i will have a machine for at least 5 years.

Bosch is miles ahead of LG in reliability.

      • Everyone I know that bought an LG front loader has had a dream run, bulletproof.

LG have a great name in washers, the rest of their products it varies.

Are you unaware of HN obligations under ACL?

      • I'm interested to know what obligations under ACLb is being referred to for a washing machine?

        • Cipher needlessly purchased an extended warranty, when a reasonable person (ACL) would expect a machine to last at least 5 years, if not 10.

hopefully i will have a machine for at least 5 years

Any decent brand should easily last that.

And paying for extended warranty is a waste of money.

      Gerry must love you.

    • I have done 2 LGs which lasted for about 6-7 years each.

But I am not sure about being cheaper than this. Do you have any specific link?

  • Wow this is crazy cheap!

I bought this model from appliances Online in May and it was $719 delivered. That was already the cheapest (about $800 elsewhere).

    Great machine

Bosch are super reliable. My last Bosch washer only broke after around 10 years usage. I generally wash 3 times a week.
Even then it was only a minor fault that I could've fixed with a $30 part, but figured I may as well get a new one after 10 years.

    • Thanks for your feedback, I decided to pull the trigger :)

  • If I am replacing an existing Front Loader washing machine, I do not need a plumber to swap over, right?

    • No, you don't.

    • No you don't. Appliances Online will remove your old machine and install the new one for free

      • This is only half true. They will remove the old one and connect the new one if they can easily hookup the hose to a standard waste outlet. Mine was a bit funny apparently and they left me unconnected, recommending me to get a plumber. I ended up doing it myself after getting a cheap connecting piece.

    • Thank you @Scab and @edrift

But are you serious that AO will do that?

My friend bought one from Appliances Online and they swapped it all over for free. I got one online from a different company and they also swapped it over and offered to take away the old one. I think it might be standard practice?

        • It is standard for them. Awesome service.

        • Ok .. thanks.

Buy the bosch. as someone who buys, sells and repairs washing machines for a living, i can tell you that its 100X better than the cheap LG and 200X better than the cheap samsung.

My LG worked well for 10 years now without a fault, will a BOSCH last me 1000 years?

My old Nokia 5110 lasted me longer then all my smart phones combined.

    • Whats your thought on Fisher & Paykel?

  • just bought one, thanks OP

  • Does anyone know the difference between the Asian made versions and Germans ones? Is it purely just the manufacturing costs?

    • I only really know through hearsay and anecdotal evidence (mine included) but I haven't heard of any German made ones having minor issues like rattling, uneven spins, unexplained non-draining etc. I have friends who have the China made ones who have had problems like this. Overall though both seem to be on the higher end of reliability.

  • This is a great deal, excellent find. I recently bought a Simpson from them at a similar price point but I would have definitely bought this if I had seen it.
If stocks run out you could try a price match at David Jones.

On an unrelated note, Bosch has an excellent reputation for being built in Germany, but the website says this one is built in China.

Only the 8 series of Bosch washers are still made in Germany, the rest in China. Still decent quality but if you really want the best get an 8 series on a good sale.

      • Not true.

Others are made in Poland not China.

  • Thanks! Got one :) was able to call Appliances Online to specify an order delivery date, too!

    • how?I called they told me I have to wait for email from them before choosing the date ?
