  • Anyone on this?

My parents are currently on Boost Mobile prepaid but they are very light users. I figure I could save them money by moving them to the Catch Connect $40 plan.

Is there anything to watch out for?

    • Make sure you turn off the auto renewal once signed up. I used their previous promo of $1 and pretty satisfied so far

boost is on telstra network and this one is on optus. Just check coverage to make sure your parents wont be impacted when they switch.

    • What about Belong $10 plan?

      • Belong $10 plan is awesome for elderly. I am planning to transfer my parents to Belong plan.

    • Yes. I signed up to this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/382796 but only activated it on the 7th July. Their calls may be on 4G, but data must be 3G due to how slow it is. It's not just 'a bit slower' either. It's pretty much 'unusable slower'. Google Play Store is painfully slow (2 minutes or so just to display anything but a blank white screen upon opening), and scroll down or sideways through the apps, and many of the icons don't appear for another couple of minutes.

I just went to youtube to check - and the phone says 'can't connect'.

I've used all major carriers in this location except Telstra. Including 3G data for a entire month as my only internet. And I'm in an area with a low population which gets good speed on them all. Youtube mostly worked on 3G before.

I bought this to get some more internet data - and my other main source is an Optus data SIM. So the settings, tower, and carrier are obviously all the same.

Just as well it only cost $1, because that's all it's worth. Good for phone calls & SMS only. The data is virtually useless. I know everyone has different experiences depending on their location, etc. but if I'm having that trouble when I've had no trouble in the past - on the same carrier and 3G - then I'd imagine many others will too.

In other words, I wouldn't be getting it for someone to use for internet. At least not without testing it first.

  • Hi!
If i buy it now, when will activation expire?
    Thanks

Just to be clear, the 50% off is only for the first 90 days. If you don't turn off automatic renewal, you will get charged the full amount at the end of 90 days.

  • Thanks. Perfect timing as my Kogan 365 plan is expiring, and will port over for 3 months to wait for the next good Kogan deal, after which I should be well clear to port back.

They (Kogan) currently have a good deal going. here

      • Thanks, yeah aware of those but waiting for the possible return of the 2 for 1 deal :-)

    Worth considering. Thanks OP.

  • I had a bad time with catch. Two days no service and waiting For their solutions. Then end up I have to cancel the porting Otherwise I need to wait at least another one day. I am really not angry about them

    • Same here. I initiated a port out from my current provider on Thursday night and still no connected. Made 3 phone calls to their customer service and they are clueless. Horrible service
